hi people, first at all, i apologize for my poor english :P

okz, when i read the objetive of GSO , the first thing that became to my head was the concept of evolution that Arthur C. Clarke develops in his book "Childrenhood's End" (also, the concept of that kind of "god" really change my religious point of view). Okz, my idea its too mix up that with some kind of Karma concept attached to it. The final unification to this being is preceded by a purifier process, leaded by the Shepherd to finally arrive where this Mente Maestra (Mastermind) is fisically manifiested and complete the purification and unify the race. So, the idea will become a kind of prophecy instead a myth or legend, cause this didn't happened... is going to (its supposed to happen with all the races of the universe enventually (except the Instrumentals (like the Shepherd, specifically created for this purpose), but the picture focus only in a race.

okz, thats the idea, but ill write it longer later.

Good works & have fun!

the sketch is strange and disturbing, I love it.

10 October 2004, 03:21 PM

Yes , I like your sketches too. I also like the spiritual take on this as well , the prophetic aspect gives a icon feel to it.
Good luck in the contest.

My GSO entry

11 November 2004, 06:13 AM
okz, heres the story, or some part of it. Im really busy, and i dont know if im gona make it, but ill try.

The civilization was ready centuries ago, but the Beign started to demonstrate recently, in the last generations, the Selects, the Last Borns. The Pure Fields appeared and the day arrived with the Instrumental Shepherds, who would guide the Last Borneds through a purification and union procession, along the Grey Path, passing the last Ascension Pillars, down to Mind are physically manifested, complementing with she, without space, without time, been everything, and the rest, the Previouses, obsoletes, with no purpose, will wait the resting time. Only a few races, like this, can see the end from the beginnign. The Profecy fulfils, the moment has come.

supa nice sketchez!! bravo! y suerte con la modelizacion! cool story too:thumbsup:

11 November 2004, 02:19 AM (

at last i found some free time! this is a fast rough of the scene. I think this viewpoint gives a icon feel to the image, but not much "spectacularity" (or however it writes). The lines behind are the Walkers... walkin :P, and that kind of wall beyond the lines is a biiiig waterfall, then biiiiig clouds, and those sticks are like biiiig distant buildings/towes/contructions of any kind (u see, everything is biiiiig... cause its GSO xD )

11 November 2004, 02:47 AM (

this rough is even worse! sorry, no time! but what matters here is the angle... mmm.. i like these one, but i dont know... what do u think guys?

11 November 2004, 08:06 AM
I like the perspective!

style is really outstanding... it's all so... thin... really nice!
can't wait to see more!

11 November 2004, 05:17 AM
Sebastian, your sketches are quite good, and should make for a really neat scene. The sketch of the Walker made me think of a post-Apocalyptic "Cirque du Soleil," and I can't wait to see it rendered in full 3D glory! Good luck! I'll keep track of your progress.

11 November 2004, 11:17 AM

great character sketches... looking very promising.. hoping to see something in 3d soon

11 November 2004, 04:39 PM
I especially like the use of details for your character sketches. That second sketch of the scene is much more dramatic and compelling. Extreme perspective=sweet. My only suggestion is to make one of the shepherds really close up in the foreground, so the viewer feels like he/she's being herded along with the masses.

11 November 2004, 05:01 AM
thnx for the c&c , guys! i really "apreciate" ("" means im not sure how to write it :P) them

Sharga: thnx for the suggestion! i was thinkin to make a Shepherd very close to the camera, but when yr idea of suiting the viewer like he/she's being herded along with the masses, that gave me the camera angle i was looking for! thnx :D

ill post some colouring sketches soon

11 November 2004, 04:45 AM (

okz, i defined some colors of the scene... ill work out the saturation and color balance, but thats the general idea (anyway, i never respect the sketches :P)
as u know, c&c r welcome :)

11 November 2004, 07:40 AM
Holy sht dude,
You have practickly created an entire world. Kinda Dark but really sweet. I am not saying it is un original, nut it reminds me of Warhammer 30000. But only in the religeolse since of with the herding of the races and such. You designs are totally originall. the concepts just reminded me of it. Thanks for the vision. keep it up.

11 November 2004, 09:04 AM
Nice colors man, but I would advice to reduce the clouds. They are too big and cover too much of the sky. The feeling of division between the foreground and background is disturbed by this. Good luck!

11 November 2004, 03:58 PM
GREAT CONCEPT! I loved that book too. And.. Rama!
The character sketches are wonderful, weird and beautiful at the same time, very otherworldly. Keep going!
My only suggestion would be to push the camera angle even more. Try taking it down to the walkers, seeing the shepards and the Enity from a POV inside their eyeline.

11 November 2004, 04:01 PM
how is necessary it to make to be registered with the challenge?

11 November 2004, 04:57 AM
wow! lots of replies!

gmillereight:i couldn't finde WH30000 pics :s post a few if u have, plz!

arturro: excellent, when i was making the colour sketch, there was something on the background that was anoying me, but i didnt see what was it! u r right! but i really like big clouds... so, i think im gonna reduce them a bit, and make vertically larger the final image, so ill have space to play with the sky and separate better the fore and the background (maybe i could desaturate a bit the background, or changing its color balance, makin almost an unique tone... ill see) thnx!

BC "mil nueve sesenta y siete" :D: yes, i was thinkin on it, pushing more the angle not only will give me a more detailed view, i think it will bring more power to the scene, but for the colouring sketch i didnt redraw the scene, i used the old sketch and painted on in :P too lazy and short of time :P

worleyclarence: i didnt understand the question :s

11 November 2004, 05:05 AM (

okz some modelling of the Pillars... the solid structure is quite simple, so im working out the red clothes, but here is what i got so far

11 November 2004, 05:06 AM
Wow nice concept, When could I see more modelings, I hope that will be soon.

I will keep one eye in your work.

12 December 2004, 06:54 AM
I really like your art, but I dont understand what are you trying to do. Those flags, the big sphere bihind, looks great but I dont get what it really is. Are you going to insert some people or ships, It will be really good. I hope so.

12 December 2004, 04:53 AM
thnx for the motivating words, guys :P i found some time, im modelling the shepherd, still, im not gonna make it... anyway, ill finish it, someday :)

mista farlow :): in the reply #22 i wrote a short version of the history, i promess i ll wrote more before i finish the work :) in first place, i considered to place some ships in the sky, but i think it will disturb the spiritual feeling that im triyin to show in the scene , but i will think it if i see i cant finish the work for the contest

12 December 2004, 05:46 AM
