I didn't Understand the concept! There is a story behind?

centavrus
10 October 2004, 05:42 PM
Sirius is the brightest star on which existed a peace civilization refused from use of the weapon, and from conducting interplanetary wars. But the dream of peace coexistence became utopy, after the civilization of Sirius was completely destroyed. Now for possession of it there are severe wars between huge empires of evil.
In the scetch I show the moment of destroing one of the big cities by the gravitational mechanism-weapon which results in earthquake on a surface of a planet, destroys city and involves as a magnet it in itself with big speed.
Excuse for bad english :)

The star of Isis, called Sothis, or Sirius, is the brightest star in our night sky. Modern astronomy has determined that it is only 8 1/2 light-years distant, and traveling directly towards Earth at many thousands of miles per hour. The Ancient Egyptians believed that Sirius had a tremendous effect upon life on our planet.

The system of Sirius contains two known stars, the first binary star system discovered. The larger and brighter of the two, Sirius A, is three times the mass of our sun, and over ten times as bright. Shining with a brilliant blue-white radiance, Sirius A easily overshadows her darker companion star. Sirius B is a "white dwarf" star, invisible to the naked eye and packing the equivalent mass of our sun into an incredibly dense globe only 4 times the diameter of our Earth.
The Sirius system is directly "upstream" of our solar system within the galactic arm of our Milky Way Galaxy. Because of this, we now know that the polarized energies of Sirius do indeed wash over us. Modern science is yet to discover if this vast current of highly charged particles affects solar activity or life on Earth .

By coming directly towards us, Sirius creates an axis of rotation with Earth relative to the stellar background. Because of this, of all the stars in the sky, only the annual heliacal rising of Sirius exactly matches the length of our solar year, 365.25 days.

Nice idea, the moment I saw you image I knew it was a gravitaion rift tearing up the planet. I was waiting to see if anyone was going to implement gravitational waves in the work. Good start.

On the composition, I really would like to see the surprised look of soilders and civilians as their bodies start to float away with the rest of their world, and maybe a desprate few holding on vainly to anything they can on the ground.

Looking forward to this comp.

Hey that is what challenges are for :)

Otherwise it is still a very cool pic. Have you considered that the gravitaional fields might be so strong that they actually bend the surface of the planet?? Right now it just has alot of stuff flying off of it.

kaajey
10 October 2004, 10:10 PM
Looks very abstract.
now lets see how you can handle that

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW! :applause:

This is my favourite now... such a great concept and sketch too. Never even thought about gravitational machines and things. Look forward to your progress! :)

To me the space opera theme is about destruction that is silent. In space things could look incredible, with huge explosions if viewing from space, nothing can be heard. It would be very strange to see a planet getting ripped to shreds, but in silence. (i'm guessing thats how it would be anyway)

I really like your magnetic planet apocalipse idea.
Its really interesting the magnetic fields ripping the land apart.

Just on top of that - any spaceships or flying dragons or steam vessels?
Any furry animals on the land? Aliens, knights, robots..

I just think its a little too simplistic so far and a bit deserted.
But its already looking great! Nice composition.
I just hope you're adding more features. Would like to see that.

Please take it constructively :wip:

Looking really nice, but something is lacking inside the body : the eye itself !
Since you use SSS, you should be able to percieve the bottom part of the occular glob inside the creature's body : in other words : separate it into 2 objects : 1* the eye 2* the body

Hi Gulchin,

you got a very nice test here... The texture looks like costing a lot of worktime...
Maybe one little crit: Strong light as u have here is becoming overxposed if the camera direction goes straight in the light, so the light emission in the middle of your sphere should be much brighter! ...but this is only a small thing, I know u will do it right!
Anyhow i like your style a lot, Gulchin:applause:

:deal: I have small amusing lesson on texturing for you - I has developed it recently.
When you have free time you can simply knock on a surface of various subjects (wall, wooden chair, the glasswares etc.) .The sound will give you an idea with what there should be a surface of your objects from which of materials it is possible them make. You must feel the surface and talk with it :)

Soooo glad you're speaking Italian and... you're right. Ficolo is too strong... I'm givin' up too.

Centavrus, your project thread has been interesting to read. The eye being model looks strange and beautiful. The texturing and transparencies certainly give it a jellyfish-like appearance. Very cool!

I love the look of the translucent aliens. They are great. I'm not so keen on how busy the texture is on your latest WIP. Maybe you could keep some plain areas on the model to show the translucency off?

Not bad my dear bad, bad girl:) Your final concept is beautiful! I love it's colors. Alien design is also very nice. Well done on their translucency. I think that their houses can be translucent as well, but maybe with some lights shining from inside... just thinking loudly... Nice stuff! good luck, I'll be jumping in to see how you're doin'

I love your colors, is looking very intersting. I would suggest adding some sort of internat veins and parts that are forming thesse creatures. Like a heart or some sort of nucleus. These creatures looks to me that they are kind of transparent. So if you lit them up from the back, you should be able to see the inside of them. Do not make it look gross or anything like it. Try to add some sort of beauty in the inside, like a ... glowing soft pink heart/nucleus.

BTW = good concept... very... interesting. :)

Cool ! Very nice patern ! As "Bliz" wrote, maybe a little more transparency in some areas shall refresh the hole shape, by seing thru. Is my english understandable? Sometimes I don't understand my own self !:banghead:
Anyway ! I like very much ! good continuing !

I lke your work/art Gulchin..........The whole organic appeal is very nice..........I could only suggest in this last shot that you could create a little less in patterns or design.......Allow the shape to show off the translucence more...The design or heavy patterns takes away from the fluid glows and translucent look you are after.......Not a big thing really, just an opinion.....I could be the only one thinking this.........In either case you are doing a real nice job here,I like the whole concept,I wish you the best in your further efforts.......:arteest: :arteest:

:deal: I have small amusing lesson on texturing for you - I has developed it recently.
When you have free time you can simply knock on a surface of various subjects (wall, wooden chair, the glasswares etc.) .The sound will give you an idea with what there should be a surface of your objects from which of materials it is possible them make. You must feel the surface and talk with it :)wow lol.. good tip... and cool stuff for your project happy bday.. few alot to cram in to one sentance... any way keep on updating!
