here's a vehicle concept sketch...scrap rig
built from scavenged metal parts etc...steam powered..
Landscape will be a global nuclear winter, about 30-40 years after all hell breaks loose.

Nice start. Wanna race to the finsh line? :)

OK..here's a start on the 3D end, there's still a LOT to go (obviously), built so far: cab, sleeping quarters, frame, boiler, and water tank, (it's steam powered, plenty of snow on the ground so water's no problem.

I like the shabby look you gave it in your sketch ;)
Keep on working ... I’m sure it’s going to be awesome

ok...it's been a little while, but here's a small update.
this is the front "axle" of my scrap rig, I still need to model a pair of heavy chains to loop around the gears on the wheel hubs and the steering column.
any suggestions on a quick way to do that? (LW7)
enough! on to the pic!!
jrockstar, I'm working on it :D

Yo! Nice work!
Like the concept.
For the chain: If using Maya: Make one link and duplicate with transform culd get you straight peices of chain. Or you culd try animated snapshot if you want all of it in one go. :D
keep it up.

very cool design,I like the wheels on the back and on the front, but what kind of cover are you going to put on the front of the motor, I t'd be kinda cool if you used something like a clothes dryer door or some thing weird like maybe a compact car hatch back door??looking forward to seeing updates:D

I'm actually planning on leaving the engine open on the front, but the idea of having something like the rear hatch from a small car, like a (new) beetle, or a honda civic on the front is rather amusing. :D
if I don't cover the engine (which is a diesel engine converted to operate under steam power), I'll probably model a new on as this one feels kinda weak.

I really like the idea of this scrap-vehicle.
Since I'm a big fan of the old Mad Max movies, this is absolutely "my cup of tea"....

That's one tight lookin' vehicle...If you ask me I'd say it's done, cept texturing. I like the "Junkyard Manufacturing" feel that it has.
Keep it up...And good luck.

well, here's what I ended up with for this challenge. Textures will have to wait for another day.
this vehicle was built shortly after the nuclear holocaust. anything flamable has been used to fuel the boiler, for the steam engine. This includes the rubber tires. Equipped with steel paddles on the drive wheels, and skis for steering, the Scrap-rig gets around the snow covered terrain without much difficulty.
