View Full Version : Handling large photoshop files

Are there any tweaks to improve effects and brush processing when working on a really big photoshop file? Some resolutions I've been working on lately are above 4000x3000 and the smudge tool amongst other things become real chuggy when using a size 100 brush or above.
This is on a Pentium4 3.0ghz with 2 gigs of ram, so I know it's not caused by a slow machine.

One thing you can do is turn off the spacing option in the Brush Presets under Brush Tip Shape (top of the Brush preset menu). Your strokes will now work a lot faster at the expense of the amount of stamps in a stroke.

Turn off any "not need" layers...and also turn off all layer styles (if you have any)
