Hi everyone! I know this concept sketch is so bad it's scary, but it gives me a general idea of what I want. I -might- turn the figure in the pic around and put her in a more somber pose to change the nature of the image. It will either be a sendoff to the fleet, or sorrow as the last evacuation ships leave the planet only half full... We'll see!

Another idea.. I think this one will be easier to develop.

A little more developed concept sketch...

Interesting concept. What's that exoatmospheric thing? Is that a man-made atmosphere? I like the composition with that star behind an iron planet-surface.

Hi coCoKNight, and thanks for the reply. Exoatmospheric is just me butchering the english language to come up with an interim title to give this thing. lol. The overall concept is an enormous battle taking place in the region of the atmosphere almost into space. The light of the star will cast shadows off of the enormous buildings through the hazy atmosphere of the planet below. I decided to go with a kind of tilted horizon because it seemed to go over well in a WWII-themed pic I did a while ago. :)

Great concept sketch, it has a "grand" feelling to it, but I'd love to see more buildings poping out of the ground. Looking forward to your progress! :)
