Hi mr-carl,

I like this kind of sketches...almost abstract, pictorial. If you try do some more sketches like that I think you will have a good place where to least at this concept stage.

Thank you. bye. Have a nice work.

Good start. Just keep feeling it out until you find your groove!

You aren't *the* Carolus Linnaeus, are you?

11 November 2004, 08:14 AM (

This is the scene that I hade in mind, I will allso try one with a citty background to se if I like that better.
Ofcourse everything is just plaseholders.

11 November 2004, 08:24 AM
ago-stino: thanks man, mre sketches comming soon

TiTaNiuM sAMuRa: Thanks. If you mean if I am "Carl von Linn" Im sorry but Im not, but if you what me to be I think I can :)

11 November 2004, 10:52 PM (

Im not soure about the colours just yet but most of them I will keap_ He will alls have a gun and maby a helmet.

11 November 2004, 10:56 PM
Nice viewing angle,I like the angle and scope,it projects out very well......Nice pleasant character as well........................:arteest:

11 November 2004, 11:09 PM (

I started t model the ship I made thr first consept fore but I didt like the resoult so I started to d this one insted, I like it better but I willl maby go back to the uther and finnish it.

11 November 2004, 12:26 AM
Thanks Virtuoso, I wassent sure about the angle first but the more I look at it the more I like it, so I will probobly keap it that way.

11 November 2004, 12:30 AM (

I hav aded wings t the fron of the ship, wrking on a little storry in my head allso, maby I vill post i tomorrow or something.

11 November 2004, 12:35 AM
Nice character! I love the Knightish look. The scene looks great. I think you could add a little more "weight" to the left for composition. Keep it up!

11 November 2004, 06:27 PM (

Continuing on the space ship. Aded guns and more wings.

11 November 2004, 06:29 PM (

Just a little texture test on the guns.

11 November 2004, 06:44 PM
i like the design of that spacecraft but maybe you should try to place it on the scene to see if it looks ok in the distance (I assume that blue boxes are placeholder for this ship, if not I didn't say anything  )

11 November 2004, 06:52 PM
turbinea: Yes you are right, the blue small boxes and the one in the front are placehlders for the ship. I will make a test render later today or tomorrow to se if it looks ok. The ships in the disttanse will probobly not be as detaled as this one will be.

11 November 2004, 01:38 PM
Hi Carl!

i agree with Virutosso the angle is very nice, cant say so much about the modelling yet,
but it looks clean and nice so far :-) goodluck :bounce:

11 November 2004, 03:04 PM (

A big gun for the fimale character, she the one sitting on the mecha.

11 November 2004, 03:09 PM (

no comment, just some modeling

11 November 2004, 05:13 PM
Love your sketches! The colorset for the ship is great, and quite unique. Would be fun to see it in the modeled ship as well. Lycka till!

11 November 2004, 05:51 PM
I have to say I always love to see when people lay out the scene in 3D with basic shapes, it shows a lot of the thought process and reveals just how epic one can be. Yours reminds me for some reason of Rogue Squadron. It's good that you keep your drawings relatively simple, it seems to me you leave yourself a lot of good room during the modelling phase.

Keep it up!

11 November 2004, 08:31 PM
PauGfx: Thanks.

Gunilla: Thanks, I relly dont know what colours I will use. I whant to have a colourfull sceen but I allso whant to have a bit more earthy colourscheme. I really havent made up my mind yet.
BTW, I relly like the colours in your scene.

SVMaerospace: Thanks man. I hope I understand you right about the good room. I allways offcourse come up with a concept in my head and then I try to do a little sketche, I have found ut that I suck at drawing perspectives so I allmost allways do a flat drawing. When it comes to the moddeling I try to have an opend mind how its going to look and implement the detales as it comes.

11 November 2004, 08:39 PM
Hi carl....................The gun design has this "Tribal" lok in some ways,at least to me......I like the look, perhaps come texture time to you could consider painted artifacts or sigils designs on it.......Either way.Looks good, keep at it......:arteest:

11 November 2004, 09:41 AM
hey u got some gr8 looking ship designs.. ur concept drawings are gr8... i'll b checking out for more updates soon

12 December 2004, 01:25 AM (

Finaly had tine and insperation to d something abut this challage.

Tha main reason I havent done anything is First I had a majre schoolprject, it was the finale project of an design class I was taking, I worked verry much for abut two weeks on that when the biggest disaster in my life happend, my father got a big brain hemorrhage so my life gut twsted upside down in just a second. So offcurse I had to go to him.
He past away the day after I had come to him and thats the main reason I havent done enything I a while.

I didnt finish my school-asignment so I still have that to do.

Anyway here is the mecha the two charecters will be on, its not finished but its not to much left on it.

12 December 2004, 06:28 AM
I like your models. They have really nice shapes and an almost abstract feel about them - keep going like that and you're doing great

Trkigt med din pappa, strongt av dej att fortstta - ta det lugnt och lycka till!

12 December 2004, 09:33 AM

Indeed, I also like the models. They've got a very sleek look to them. Also, I like the grainy feel of your renderings, don't know if that's on purpose but if so I'd say boost it up even a tad more. Can't wait to see more textures.

12 December 2004, 09:34 PM
very interesting concept you got here mate! I will add more comment as soon as you put togeter some more pieces, right now there is not much I can say. just that it looks fine so far :D

12 December 2004, 11:51 PM

Gunilla: Tack s mycket

Lelantos: Thanks :)

darthmikael: you are wellkome and thanks

Sharga: Thanks. The grany feel is indead the rendersetting and on purpose.

12 December 2004, 12:41 PM
Ok got it going......................I'll check back with the next progress update,i like your overall plan and start here.I'll check back and try and give you any thoughts I might be able to.....Go at it strong carl.........

12 December 2004, 02:30 PM
the initial sketches look promising. It's a bit early in the modelling phase to give any crits, so I'll revisit in the future.. good luck on the modelling and hoping for updates soon..

12 December 2004, 02:35 AM (

I got a little tired of the mech I was modeling on so I desided to begin on a new model. I still whanted to model a mecha so I let the enemy get ther one mechas.
Its unsmoothed and I thing that I dont have to smooth it anything coz it will be in the background so there arent to meny detales.

Now I only have to do some wepons and stuff for it.

Hope you like it

12 December 2004, 12:19 AM (

Im allmost finnised with the mecha, needs som work on the hand area.

I allso made a whepon, and the stick thing is suposed to be a lightsaber, I hope it will look like it when I have textured it.

12 December 2004, 10:58 PM

Carl - Ett riktigt gott nytt r! :wavey:

Your mecha looks really cool - do you think you will have any updates soon? It would be fun to see it all in place :) Good luck!

01 January 2005, 11:26 AM
carl...................I think whats most important at this time is that you finish, and advance, the textures you do now will be yet another step forward, another stepping stone to getting to your potential down the road.......The learning process is never ending for everyone.......I'll be here to see your next step, finishing this will be a nice fulfilling job,and one you should strive for.....You got some nice work here, and i hope to see you get it all done as you planned......i'll be watching.....:arteest:

01 January 2005, 08:49 PM
Tack Gunilla!

Virtuoso, Im vorking on a new meck thing for the good gyes and its not going really well, I have to som changes t the finale pic coz I dint have the time to make the human charecter wich is really sad really:sad:, so some small changes and alitlle more modeling andim of t the finale texturing part wich I really need a lot more time to do, but I will do my best:thumbsup:.

I allso got a little les time at home at the moment coz Im about to get a job after a long time of unempoiment (or wat its called), so thats taking up a lot of time as well.
Anyway thanks for the cment.

01 January 2005, 04:28 PM (

Allmost finnised with the modeling just a little detales and weapons to do then it on tomodeling and stuff.

01 January 2005, 08:05 PM
I like it Carl.......This one has a nice flow,a litle more of a pliant curved appeal to the form.......Nice looking mech.Keep it going carl.Looking good.:arteest: :arteest:

01 January 2005, 11:35 PM (

Aded som stuff to it still some things left to do.

01 January 2005, 08:48 PM (

01 January 2005, 10:23 PM
Dude those guns are BAD ASS....i likee,,,, :buttrock:

01 January 2005, 01:27 AM
thats what i call a robot. reminds me battletech. one of those big 60feet war machines. keep it up

01 January 2005, 09:50 PM
Alright carl..........No games with these latest guns.....They can take down an army all by themselves......I like this, good idea and extra touch to this creation......

My only suggestion would be to add a counter balance or extra weight to the back part of the guns. This will counter act the weight of the front of the guns........A better balance solution......
Either way nice going.Keep it strong to the finshline.........:arteest: :arteest:

01 January 2005, 10:02 PM
Thanks for the nice words dudes:love:

Verry nice idea Virtuoso and you are absolutely right the guns look a but owerwaited, I dnt understand how I culd miss that.

Hopfully new update will come later tonight. I had to change the finale image a little to make it more interesting with the new mech and so.

01 January 2005, 12:43 AM (

01 January 2005, 03:22 PM
Carl! I'm so glad to see you haven't give up on this - my best wishes for a happy completion.
The models look good - I think you should place one or two in the foreground for better depth - if there's time ... anyway, great job
