hey everybody this contest is totally awesome :D here is my idea
In a future so far the wars are complete destroiyng a planet in a very far galaxy, hope is a word that no more exist in the heart of this people, it's not the end of a planet but the end of a entire galaxy, the end of hope, the end of life the end of everything that really matter. In the middle of this caos, a hope! or not? a hand very damaged with a litlle sphere on the top of the hand and inside this sphere a solar system, the future of an entire galaxy in one hand and around this only destruction and suffering there is hope??
this is the theme of my work i will try to make a very realistc hand in the middle of a mass destrucion place hot tones will be abused to give the sensation that i have thinking on this theme.
This is a ultra very super mega power simple sketch of my scene just to illustrate the idea.
Good luck for everybody!
Hope that someone undestand my terrible english :P

wow, great emotional concept! If done right, itll really play into the hands of the voters! I always think emotion is a great way to reach people in an image.
10 October 2004, 03:33 PM
This a fresh and full of emotions idea ...looking forward to see this one....good luck man! :bounce:
10 October 2004, 03:38 PM
Great concept! It's always nice to see something other than spaceships shooting at each other.
10 October 2004, 04:01 PM
Muito bom Taba. Legal que encontrou uma idéia. É como disseram, se fizer direito, tem muitas chances.
Very good idea. I waiting for the updates :)
10 October 2004, 07:57 PM
I would suggest adding wings to the sphere like some sort of symbolic sence :D
10 October 2004, 03:20 AM
The start of the hand im modeling in max and probally i will detail the hand in zbrush after :D critcs and comments are welcome
10 October 2004, 03:26 AM
it is looking good so far, I would suggest making the finger nails more squarish towards the finger tips, and then on the part where the cuticle is I would jam that in a bit more and gove it a modelled in cuticle for extra realism, lying over the fingernail. also soften the creasing that is happeneing around the knuckle areas, they are looking to square.
okay that was a lot of stuff but please don't take offense, I am just trying to help out, I think this will be a great piece when it is done.
10 October 2004, 05:12 AM
A few technical critiques : the palm is rather flat, the middle section of each finger is too thin, and I suspect you'll save yourself a lot of trouble later on if you leave the fine wrinkles & creases (like those on the knuckles) to bump mapping. And I agree w/ dshelton about the nails. It should look like they're growing out of the nail, not sitting on top. It looks like you model your nails the same way I do - with two bevels? - so I think if you just play with the vertices of the nails themselves that should be a quick & easy fix.
Also, if this hand is going to be the focal point of your whole image, I suggest making the anatomy uber-defined, like something you might expect to see on a greek/roman sculpture. Or soft, pudgy and child-like, if you want to go that light-hearted route. Either way I think the structure/modelling of the hand itself should be enough to hold the viewer's attention.
That's a pretty good looking skin texture, btw.
10 October 2004, 03:41 PM
Curti muito a mão.
Boa sorte pra vc no challenge e pra todos os brasucas.
10 October 2004, 04:12 PM
Very good progress.
FIcou legal a mão, mas se vc quer algo mais realistico, eu reveria a cuticula da unha ... Mada bala, que tá ficando bão.
10 October 2004, 05:16 PM
Hey everybody! really thanks for all critics! i agree with all of them...here a update of the hand! i repeat this is A WIP I will change a lot of things in this hand yet.
i keep wating for more critics and coments!
10 October 2004, 05:25 PM
very nice, keep going...
obs: é cartoon ou realista ? existe alguns erros de proporção de fácil correção...
10 October 2004, 05:25 PM
Much better now , I like the hand .
show another angle please.
10 October 2004, 05:52 PM
I agree, another angle would be nice. I think the wrist maybe a little skinny. The right side where the hand and wrist connect looks strange. The hand looks like it has a big bump on it. Other than that it's coming along nicely. Keep up the good work.
10 October 2004, 06:06 PM
here another update on the hand with some proportions fixed and other angle...the botton side of the hand will be more simple because this side will not be showed on the final composition.
10 October 2004, 06:08 PM
hei! your idea is very good! I tihnk that the hand and wrist connect looks strange, too:) . I think that you should try to widen the wirst a little more. maybe it´s work. It will be really nice work.
10 October 2004, 06:16 PM
hey nice hand... i'm a little confused is that a human hand or a alien hand?.. best of luck buddy.. c ya soon...
10 October 2004, 06:17 PM
Great work Taba!
10 October 2004, 08:57 AM
nice hand- but it seems a little flat :hmm:
also the finger nails - bend them a little...
10 October 2004, 07:18 PM

10 October 2004, 08:17 AM
I like your hand model, very nice progress.
10 October 2004, 02:49 PM
Thanks everybody again for all comments! i have already fixed some problems in the hand but nothing big, soon I will post the hand. Today i started to make some displacement tests for the BG the buldings are just to illustrate.. i will model the buldings in the front of the BG soon.
10 October 2004, 02:53 PM

10 October 2004, 04:13 AM
I can't believe I didn't see your post sooner! My bad...
But I did see the hand though! :D
I think it still needs a work to make it look realistic. But I see that your on the way to achieving that result.
I'm enjoying not only the concept, but also the whole develpment of the scene.
Keep it up! I'm looking forward to seeing more ups!
10 October 2004, 08:41 PM
Great modeling, it´s really looking like a "tabajara´s hand" :D
You learn very fast (yes, i saw your previous works at 3d4all)

10 October 2004, 01:53 AM

10 October 2004, 02:00 AM
Your idea and work is coming along very nicely. My only question was, how are you going convery the fact that there is a galaxy in the orb? good luck
12 December 2004, 06:17 PM

12 December 2004, 07:09 PM
very original idea! and so far the realisation is also good. It all looks promising, I can't wait to see next updates. I can only advice now to add some visible terrain betwean the foreground hole and the city.
