10 October 2004, 02:11 PM (

Just another quick, vehicle concept.

The idea that i have floating around in my head atm is a sort of battle royale space race type of scenario. But i dont know if thats exactly what i want to show.

Atm im not locked down to this, i want to keep playing with ideas...ill keep you guys posted.

10 October 2004, 02:51 PM

10 October 2004, 11:14 PM
And another magnificent sketches of an excellent artist. Great shapes of the vehicle and i really like that neon-like blue light round the wheel. Very futuristic and cool looking!

Too bad u didnt manage to finish machineflesh challenge. It was looking really good.
I wish u more luck at GSO!

11 November 2004, 08:17 AM (

Just another really quick sketch for a vehicle idea. The thinking behind this is that it has two modes, when stationary is compacts itself for security, and when moving or in use it stretches out to accomodate the rider.

I really need to find time to put into this great comp. i definately know im missing out on some great work. So ill put in some time real soon and catch up on all the threads.

The next post ill start throwing in some of my compositions, and get some feedback on the right ones to go with.

Thanks to everybody/anybody whos stopped by to take a peak, and goodluck with your own masterpieces. ;)

11 November 2004, 04:59 PM

element5: hehehe, its a bit early in the morning for a woodstock aint it?:D although if i wasnt bogged down at work right now id be having one with you. Actually its the prefect sort of day here in Adelaide (rainy weather) to just chill out in front of your computer and sip on your fav. brew.

Thanks for the support mate, i really should get around to checking out everyones thread status, will definately try to make some time tonight. Have a good mate.

Thought i would post up a quick thumbnail id did during some free time at work. Its not much but i hope it gives shows the basic idea, i really still need to play around with it. But i think i have nailed an idea that i definately want to work on.

The idea is that basically the boy you see on the back of the bike, is the last surviving male of the human race. And basically there is an alien race who would like to put an end to humanity and could do so with one swoop by killing the boy. The thing is that the boy has a protector and he/she is not human but one of the race of aliens who want to destroy the humans. The protector basically treats the boy as if it was its own child and will do anything to keep him alive.

Very cliche`d, but i like the idea of the relationship with the boy and the alien. I kinda maybe want to put a bit of a Lone wolf and Cub spin on the story. I love the whole relationship between Ogami itto and his son, Daigoro, and thats the kind of thing i want to capture. That relationship in the middle of some large scale battle/chase/showdown sequence. Lone wolf and Cub are my favourite graphic novels of all time, i highly recommend the series.

11 November 2004, 06:11 AM
wow.. great story m8.. how about a girl for the boy :D aliens don't kill females? j/k :D

good sketch but i'm sure you'll improve the composition.. story is really very good and sentimental for me..

cheers and i'll wait for updates..

P.S. btw i posted some crappy Photoshop sketches as you requested :D so you can check and of course your critique is very appreciated..

11 November 2004, 07:34 AM (

Just quickly wanted to sketch out an image of the boy and some sort of hulking creature, wanted to see how they would look.

I still will probably want to stick with my previous scenery, the background here was just to add some interest to an otherwise boring sketch.

The boys teddy didnt make it when the ship crashed...

11 November 2004, 10:52 AM
Yes the latest is very cool.....nice concept

12 December 2004, 05:11 AM (

Looks cool, I like the style of your drawings and the little splashes of colour :)

12 December 2004, 09:06 AM
Hey Sketchfiend!! I've not been browsing for a few weeks so i've missed a bit of this thread... i love that latest picture. Particularly the way the little alien-esque teddy bear is clinging onto the kid. And the contrast in size and bulk between the kid and the fella with the gun.

It's developing really nicely. Don't wait tooo long to start that final piece though... wanna see you finish this time!!

Good luck!!

Sorry i havent been around lately, i havent had many opporunities to hang around in the challenge and post replies, im still fairly immersed in my other work, which should be out of the way in just over a weeks time. I will then be on my annual leave. I hope to have much more time to devote to getting my Space Opera completed and enjoying the aussie summer.

From now on ill try and restict myself to posting up more refined linework as opposed to my scribbles and colours. Hopefully it will give you guys a better look at what i want out of my final image, i really need to start to knock out the details as i started doing for the machineflesh comp.

In any case if i miss anyone please forgive me, thanks to everyone who has stopped by my thread so far, much appreciated.

Element5: How are you mate? thanks for stopping by, ive been by your thread constantly and im really impressed as to how youve progressed from your initial idea to what you have now. Cant wait to see your final image mate, goodluck.

bonestudio: Thanks for the comment mate. I really like some of the work youve done, i went by your website for a peak, theres a great range of work in your folio. I really hope you get to put your skills to good use. Goodluck. I really love the last sketch you posted with the girl peaking around the corner, its got a really neat rough but polish feel to it. I can defiantely see all the detail in your image even in your current stage, i will look forward to more updates.

adonihs: I love what youre working on, seeing your entry has given me a real boost for motivation to get moving on this challenge again. Thanks mate and goodluck.

Kengi: jak sie masz?, hehehe i thought i would insert a bit of the second language just for you bud, anyway, thanks for stopping by i really love your last post, its freaky how youve managed to capture the feel of an aerial photo in that view of the land youve posted up it looks fantastic. Im truely impressed i wouldnt even know where to begin to start doing something like that. Congrats mate, i will definately be following your progress.

Simboc: Hay matey, im lgad you finally decided to pull your thumb out and join, ive told you and shown you on many occasions how great this place is. I will definately look forward to seeing your work, Hopefully you havent been discouraged yet by seeing all the amazing tallent here. Goodluck. (hopefully you can put your new tablet to good use)

RLyons: Rich, thanks for stopping in, i love your sketch work mate. Hopefully i can start working my details to the level youve brought to your composition. The characters remind me of some of the artwork ive seen in the battle chasers comics. Hence the fact that i am really loving/enjoying to look of your work, keep it coming.

Airborn: Great to see youre still around, i remember you entry to the last comp and that turned out great. I definatley see this entry turning out just as good if not better, goodluck buddy.

duddlebug: Duds, I almost thought that you had disappeared off the face of the planet, i was really hoping youd be back. Ive always loved your kooky take on things, hopefully i will see the end of this one mate. Im glad that i have your vote of confidence again, ive got a good feeling that i will pull through this time, ill try not to let myself down. Im sorry to hear that youve pulled out but thats completely understandable your powers are needed elsewhere. goodluck in whatever you do.

Thanks again guys and i wish you all the best, have a happy and productive week.

01 January 2005, 03:47 AM
I love the looseness and freeflowing aspects of your concept work...please get this artwork done...I cant wait to see more.

01 January 2005, 01:55 PM
The motorcycle is really cool.

The composition is a bit too tight for my taste...It really doesn't give much story away. Still very good skills with color and line. Con gratz! :)
