First concept sketches for the challenge.
The first image shows the Battle of Corrin from the DUNE world by Frank Herbert and his son Brian Herbert. Not sure yet if this is the view angle I want or if this landscape is fitting for Arakis, but this is early stage, and I’m re-reading the novels.
The second image shows the build of ERATH in the planet Magrathea from the Hitchhiker’s guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Still more study is needed and I want to explore more scenes from the book… so more to come soon.
Having lots of fun on this (first for me) Challenge…

I like your style, will be looking forward to updates.
But remember in the rules no reference to anything that already exists (copyrighted)....has to be totally original. Hate for you to do all that work and then not get through :)

I'll check the rules again...

After going over the rules again i've changed my concept... sketches coming soon

oh cool i wonder what you'll do next... your previous sketches have a good narrative quality. the square cells make them feel like part of a sequential. maybe work on larger sketches to get the "epic" visual idea in.
good job and good luck!

This is the new concept I went for… the backdrop is about a civilization living in a post apocalyptic planet left with little land mass. The primary food crop, similar to rice, can only come to harvest state by being pollinated by the airborne version of plankton. This ‘Plankton’ only arrives once a year and resides very high in the sky. Special harvest ships carry a full load of crop to be pollinated up in the sky so that it could be harvested and distributed to the populace.
This sketch POV is of one flying inside the ‘Plankton’ main stream viewing along the way the busy work of harvest day.

I'll have to find some time to work on some more ideas... i'm not that happy with this one, the composition i mean. maybe i'll let the main ship come in the frame so that ships bridge is up close... and you can see the crops as well.
Hope soon more will come
