panel of big size or appeared a painting which had resisted time and
seemed to have several centuries, of the symbols was register with the

which said: "I was present and see you in my representation of this
great day of commemoration, in memories of the unions passed for the
harmony of our world, thus we celebrate:THE RECONCILIATION STRUCTURAL"

All my thanks with the challengers for their various supports,

Hello, Ok, here first ideas but I think the maid for my creation, I
think of making an enormous futuristic city in which this a gigantic
spectacle put in scene mégas structures carrying out a symphonic
ballet,le unrolls very directed by one or more leader, in a metropolis
on abundant a kind of sound and galactic light at the time of an
enormous ceremony commemoration the unifications of all the people. I
want one create visual peace and not of destruction, because I enjoy
to believe, that in this remote galaxy with human face it with to be
found the harmony of all his direction.....

(sorry for my English...)

It looks like a good start.

10 October 2004, 02:01 AM
There's an amazing textural quality to your work. Very nice.

10 October 2004, 09:46 AM

My drawing can appear confused, but it is very clear in my
spirit, it is it first graphic vision of my project, now I let mature
my ideas of sound and lights putting in scene structures gigantic
carrying out an air ballet in this enormous metropolis, I plan to
multiply the gigantic structure with human morphology men and women
what created a depth of prospects. It will be one moment of life and
of festival for this civilization or have it will celebrate the memory
of an important event of the past, it will be the commemoration of:

Soon the continuation....., but it is hard to work for commands
of customer and to make project in parallel it would be necessary for
me some 50 hours days or not to sleep more....

With soon

10 October 2004, 11:09 AM (

Now that I have create my concept, and that I is a little close a
vision global, I will draw each elements which will compose the scene.

Here the drawing in progress for one of the structures gigantic which
will form part of the air ballet of the "Reconciliation Structural"
they will occupy a great place in the image, these architectures
monumental with human morphology will be ordered by characters
carrying out same choreography placed on scenes of which one will be
in the foreground. But that will be the subject of a forthcoming
At the point of seen realization at this stage of work, I let
go my free hand of creates the forms while trying to concretize the
visions of my spirit.
It is surely the moment that I prefer in painting.

10 October 2004, 11:13 AM
Oh, I can see where you're going with this Tranchefeux - this is bound to get interesting. Great concept there.

And no need to apologise for your english - i only wish my french was as good. so my apologies.

10 October 2004, 11:25 AM
Wow, this last sketch is very very beautiful for himself! :applause:

All those mechanical and bio parts...maybe it has to become the central part of the painting? :D

10 October 2004, 11:26 AM
Hey!! This is looking pretty spectacular!!

And looking at your previous threads i'm sure it's gonn a be absolutley filled with great detail...

10 October 2004, 01:46 PM
I wonder if it couldn't be stronger if opposants have differents sizes...Just a suggest, I don't know..or maybe the point of view...(I should shut up ..I've nothing done :) )...BTW line is nice.

10 October 2004, 04:16 PM
Thank you for your comments for my beginning for challenge, there are
many people and so much good ideas with large artists in style
different, I think that the end there has will be full with
marvellous things to see. I impatient of am devoted the most possible
time on my project "Réconciliation Structural", but I am spirit to
finish another illustration for another contest which with for topic
the world of the fairies on the site 3vf, I try to remain concentrated
to finish it, because the fence is on November 16 and in parallel I
have also commands to make for your agencies, but good, I go will not
complain, because I want it well...
I will remain attentive with the evolution of your creations because it is so interesting and enriching
to see all these projects being born, which are made with the same
topic and are treated according to your cultures and your feeling.

!!! For this project I surely will make of another couples gigantic,
but which will be further in the visual one I want to play a maximum
with the prospect so that one feels different the scales from
measurement, the structures is not opposed, they go one towards the
others they this key, harmonizes myself, it is couple which this form
it is a sign of communion with the others, outward journey towards are
next for better knowing it and appreciating it, the last design is not
the final framing of the project because once that I more or less
create the concept in my spirit, I work the elements separately
knowing or end that I would join together the whole, for the
composition final, but I am not there....

with soon for the continuation, and good courage for your creations.

10 October 2004, 04:36 PM
Bautiful concept in the second design...beautiful "machines", and gigantic machinery. The initial sketch is a bit too crowded I think...just my opinion, and is just a sketch! :)

Good Luck for the contest!

10 October 2004, 02:37 PM (

-Continuation of the progression of the drawing of the principal
structures, I continue to trace the features and outlines volumes, I
work all in black and white, not troubling me about the colors this
stage is devoted exclusively to the creation of the forms.

10 October 2004, 02:43 PM
WoOo..nice drawing..something make me think to Melies.:D .like it. It's an original approach.

10 October 2004, 02:52 PM
Yes, Trancefeux, that is truly outstanding - it's almost be a shame to colour this piece, given that your illustrative linework is so wonderful to behold. I'm very impressed - i can see goli's allusions to melies but it conjures up thoughts of another artist whose name i can't recall at the moment.

great work trancefeux

10 October 2004, 03:33 PM
This defnetly looks monumental > maybe the viewer needs something that he can compare witch because an indication of something that defines the bigness could underline the impression.

10 October 2004, 04:19 PM
there is something really strong in your work, i follow your thread since the start and i can only find something "comparable" with the Voytek's work! Stunning

10 October 2004, 05:37 PM
Nice work.. Got some religious and out of this world look in it.

First concept you made looked so busy and i was not sure what would be emerging from it, but i think this will be something worth looking at

Specially since your website is full of great art!

one tip from me... try to keep those legs point slightly more at the viewer otherwise it might result in a look that they both are bending slightly from the torso.

Carry on!:bounce:

10 October 2004, 06:22 PM
Fabulous linework, i almost feel a little Giger, in there somewhere!!

keep it comin, i'm actually quite interested in what you're gonna do with the colour.

10 October 2004, 10:41 AM
To answer your last comments on my project and to inform you on my

First of all my culture visual this locates in the art of the
1400 2nd at the 1600 2nd century, I am admiring, art of primitive
Flemish in particular with Jean Van Eyck who is for me one of the most
powerful painter of are time his virtuosity technical for me never yet
was to equalize, the atmosphere of its paintings is single and
releases from great feelings I also love artists, like Bruegel, Jerome
Bosch and well of others their vision of the world is single and the
study of their art is very enriching. The painters, sculptors and
architects of the rebirth form part also of my references I would
quote some one of them, among largest: Léonard, Michel Angel, To
last, Raphaël, Filippo Brunelleschi, Titien and much of
others.... The Baroque art (Rubens, Jordens) much also interests me
for their dazing composition, I am also very sensitive to the key
pictorial of Rembrandt... I cannot all quote them but all these
artists have to mark the history of art and are references impossible
to circumvent for me. For the artists more recent or our
contemporaries, I would quote; William Blacke, Dali, Jacques Poirier
, Paul Delvaux, Frazetta, Siumak, Giger, etc in general the
surrealist ones or visionaries also have my preference the mystics and
fantastic art. All arts of these large artists and the study of their
creations forms part of my imagery and me influences unconsciously or
consciously. Art is a great rebound or the artists influence
themselves mutually creating in their turn of other vision with your
foundations commune according to their taste....

Good road, for your project.

10 October 2004, 10:57 AM
I enjoy seeing your style, the detail is amazing. :applause:

11 November 2004, 03:07 AM
hey mate. throw some backgrounds together... i want to see!!!

great epic scene thus far.

11 November 2004, 03:23 AM
wow, really unique style, kind of a cross between Antonio Gaudi and H.R. Giger
looking forward to the rest.

11 November 2004, 03:53 PM (

_ To this stage of my work, it himself prove to be essential to make a
grid of prospect to end to can place and build correctly the other
element of my project, I it be build in me fix on my drawing of the
first two first structure, I it be accentuate to maximum in order to
give the most de size possible with my element, This technique be very
old and very effective, because it make it possible to draw freely, a
once the grid semi of place it be enough to this fix above. Have can
study the practical application by léonard de Vinci in his unfinished
table "L'adoration des Mages" or have it can clearly see all its
construction of prospect.

11 November 2004, 03:57 PM (

Now that I have make my grid of prospect and more or less to
decide final framing, I continue work on the creation of the other
elements of my project, I have an idea rather clear on the ballet of
the structures which evolve/move in the space ordered by dancers
located on scenes, I can imagine that they are equipped with sensor to
give the movements to the structures in real time, the whole assisted
by engineer which controls the good course of operation on the
decorations surrounding my ideas are vaguer, for the moments..... I to
date appreciate the idea of verticality of the things....

11 November 2004, 05:16 PM
Hi! just wanted to say i like all the details in your last scetch :-) very very nice. :-) will follow this thread and se how the progress will go :-)
god luck! :-D

11 November 2004, 07:56 PM
Hey Hey,
nice development! Your additional surrounding underlines the bigness of the fighting main-characters. Your grid technique looks a bit confused to me but it seems to simplify your work obviously. :)

11 November 2004, 08:00 PM
Hi Again , just visited your website your DAMN GOOD at 2D! :buttrock:

Moon Dragon
11 November 2004, 08:24 PM have a winning concept here!!!

11 November 2004, 09:15 PM
i love all this rich detail you have there...could you plz tell me size of paper and type of pencils you are using?? because my technique actually evolved to counter-balnce tha need for huge paper sizes for my broad pencil strokes..., but i still prefer sketchung on paper:buttrock:

11 November 2004, 11:31 PM
Hi there
You have one of the most original piece around. I like a lot the surreallistic-gothic felling. Say, are you thinking to place some human character? I think it could enphasize the size of the buildings and humans allways take an important part in space opera stories. I eas just imagining some strange lord of this gothic place. Amazing piece! I cant wait to see the color work.

11 November 2004, 12:17 AM
Wow, that's a really interesting and wonderful start to this challenge, Tranchefeux! I love the architectural feel to it, it's very solid. I do wish there was a tad more clarity to the piece overall, but I'm betting that's partly due to the compression. Can't wait to see the final piece,

11 November 2004, 01:32 AM

What a courage to do this perspective by hand. Don't you used 3D for that sort of labor ? Personnaly that's what I gonna do, I haven't your courage, I'm a lazy man....I"m too afraid to have to change everything if my focus moves...anyway, congratulations for your sketch...(some french speaking from time to time isn't, I translate...well..I try...don't make fun of me please...)

pfffffff. :p

11 November 2004, 01:50 AM
The detailing and perspective look great- not much else to say at this point, but it looks like it'll be really amazing.

11 November 2004, 03:25 AM
This is great, the piece is going to look amazing. Cant wait for more.....:applause:

11 November 2004, 01:20 PM
this is looking better and better, going for that whole godzilla thing?

its looking awsome either way but maybe you can try a bit more scale with the jet pack soliders? anywho just a suggestion :) keep up the good work.

Thank you for your last comments and suggestions on my last
post and all my encouragement on your challenges...

No paper, not of pencil, just my shelf and a texture
tinted in photoshop, except for the prospect which I have scanner and
semi in product.....

there is nothing courageous it is only one small prospect
at 3 break points or you traces lines with the rule, but you at a rate
of using the 3d, me I am a "cake" in 3d but I is there to me
seriously... good courage for the continuation of your project which
is announced imposing.

11 November 2004, 02:08 PM
  still impressive sketch, it has a VERY fine-art-ish feel and the composition is marvelously pompous, but still looks balancedthat's the aesthetic i wanted in mine in the first place, but i had to drop detail level

11 November 2004, 03:16 PM
Looking excellent........loads of detail.........very impressive!

11 November 2004, 10:52 AM
Tranchefeux......................I am so very happy you came into my thread, not ony for your support, but because due to you coming in I have found the link to yours.....It's almost impossible to keep up with all the threads ( I try my best).......But finding yours here is "Fantastique".................I think your art here is superb, what a deep and wicked, very complicated work you have,a beautiful and complex start, the design makes my mind soar..........Very impressive, you 2D guys are something else, such vision, and spectacular ideas........I am now subscribed, and will visit on a regular basis........This is wonderful, and exciting........Your new friend Virtuoso...................:arteest:

Wow! This is really coming along nicely! Very alien, very detailed, and very awesome. I cant wait to see the final hi-res!

11 November 2004, 12:02 AM
Wicked and surreal,an intense piece..........Dark and brooding,and one hell of a piece.......:arteest:

11 November 2004, 01:28 AM
This is very cool. It's futuristic, but has that feeling of 'the ancients'. I really dig it.

11 November 2004, 11:01 AM
:eek: Freakin design and composition! Colors will pop a lot of details! Waiting for more

11 November 2004, 01:15 PM
Dude you have too much time on your hands.... excellent

11 November 2004, 04:50 PM
A beautiful piece of work. Love it with the construction lines in place. Completely original.

11 November 2004, 07:50 PM
very intense piece, good job w/ perspective. what patience!
you didn't mention him as an influence but your style has a bit of Phillippe Driullet to it
I will keep my eye on this one!

11 November 2004, 04:30 AM
WOW! Your linework and detail is incredible! this peice is coming along nicely.

11 November 2004, 12:35 PM
very impressive! very gothic! I like it. A contrast of some empty white space somehwere would work well...

11 November 2004, 01:32 PM
Indeed very impressive!!!Loads of detail.Wonder how you work them out after. With all this detail it's going to be a quit heavy image. And that's gotta be a big challenge to combine this large scale landscape thing with all those details.

I repeat,i know but your idea is great and your firts conceptdrawings really nice!!!

Surely follow this one, keep 'm coming!!!

My grint Spacepra:

11 November 2004, 05:16 PM
Great stuff here!!

11 November 2004, 05:32 PM
when I saw the first sketch I was like "uh-oh looks like this is gonna be over-detailed"
- like it would be just a mess of details.
Strangely enough , now that theres more of it , it looks great !
An awe-inspiring sight !

11 November 2004, 03:20 PM
By god! This is amazing stuff. very very original and the composistion so far is spot on. I love the arhitecture of the humanoid structures, instead of plain futuristic sheets of metal. inspiring stuff my friend. I will be watching . . .

11 November 2004, 12:29 PM (

New progression of the drawing, the structures are finished at this
stage, as well as the scenes, I do not think of going further in the
details, it is necessary that I keep time for the colors and I is not
made yet the decorations or I am still undecided on the various
possibilities and feelings which I want to make pass in; a city?, a
cathedral?, steps of the interior of an opera? or quite simply one mix
of the three....

et je n'est pas encore fait les décors ou je suis encore indécis sur les différentes possibilités et sentiments que je veux faire passer dans;

11 November 2004, 12:33 PM (

Detail of one of the part of the project, the setting colors future
will bring back a little calms in all these tangle of forms.

11 November 2004, 07:53 PM
it's take life!you work a lot on this project, hope you have time to work on your hown personnal work!

11 November 2004, 07:58 PM
:applause: love to nice the final!

11 November 2004, 08:45 PM
This artwork reminds me of Phillip Duirlette (spelling is wrong), the perspective was off on this

11 November 2004, 08:51 PM

i think your level of detail is just about right for the scale of your image...
i wish to see some of the colouring progress once you reach that milestone

11 November 2004, 10:20 PM
Hi Tranchefeux, what an amazingly detailed approach! It reminds me very much of Ian Miller's artwork, an artist with the most incredibly detailed pen and ink gothic fantasy art. This ultra-detail kind of approach needs a dedication and patience which I really admire and you're achieving the required grandness in a unique way which really stands out. I'm wondering what your plans are for colour? I almost wish you'd keep it purely black and white!

11 November 2004, 10:37 PM
that is a beautiful piece almost gigerish, Can not wait for the color.

11 November 2004, 10:44 AM
Thank you for your new comments which always give pleasure, I continue
the drawing and I go surely poster the continuation today, but I is
not finished yet, the true challenge for me and I should not be only
is it to manage commands professional and to make this project
moreover, but it is a real pleasure of seeing all these energies
deployed around the same subject, thanks for having me to quote the
artists "Philippe Druillet or Miller" because I did not know them
and indeed there are points commun run with their universes and my
project, their cultures visual with surely same the roots (Renaissance, baroque, Gothic
architectures). Finally I am in a hurry to begin the colors and I
start to think of it a little, but the drawing is for me most
important because they is the foundations of a painting and never the
colors thus does not catch up with errors of drawings I is to me all
my attention there.
With soon.

11 November 2004, 07:35 AM
Good work. When you introduce the city backdrop, the foreground character just becomes so much more impressive. Nice detail on the characters. Keep up the good work!

11 November 2004, 08:34 AM
Very refreshing and original work mate, looking forward to seeing this one!

11 November 2004, 08:49 AM
Tranchefeux , dude , have you taken a look at your website ? Pretty amazing stuff there !!

11 November 2004, 09:54 AM (

The drawing of my project continues that road and the precise things
this I chose on the decorations, for interior of a kind of cathedral
operated with open sky it is a place of spectacle and of ceremony
there are steps or a little privileged separators can see the things a
little more closely, a metropolis born has the base of the pillar of
architecture and being itself to the horizon, I will continue the
details for the decorations in order to finish my drawing and then to
let rest, to be on to have taken good the option and finally I could
begin the colors.

11 November 2004, 10:53 AM
hi there Tranchefeux

Wow! I really like the theme and scale of your drawings. It reminds me of something along the lines of "Lovecraft meets the Indian Gods Pantheon"... really suggestive.

Great concept for the figures... the detail really comes alive! Congratulations and keep it up:thumbsup:

11 November 2004, 11:24 AM
Really amazing. This what I called Pure art.
I 've seen your work on your website, man you are among the greatest 2D french artist?

Tres bien mon ami!

I absolutly love your style. so intricate and grand.

The collossal feel to this is amazing . . . i think the whole image just ozzes beuty and sophistication of a great advanced civilisation. As i said before i love the fact that the arhictecture is old school. very nice touch.
Great sense of depth as well . .. will be even more pronouced with colour.
I think your idea is one of the most unique here.

The title rocks by the way!

One of my favs i think.

11 November 2004, 01:18 PM
I love this even more now , i wanted to suggest paying close attention to the rule of darks being closer and lights being further away, that foreground structure is the reason for the suggestion. You are french and never heard of Philippe Druillet ? That's some serious use of perspective, aerial perspective is the key to this one. Is that foregorund structure EXTREMELY long?? Also all lines closer to the viewer are thicker and darker.

11 November 2004, 01:33 PM
Excellent man!!Indeed There is some kind of old school drawings in this pic!!!

With the space opra theme it's great, the architecture really wellworked out.

Now I'm quit curious how you gonna work this out with all those details in colors.!!!

May the force be with you!!!

WOW! Talk about detail. and what makes this very very good is that you were still able to sustain a great seens of space in a very details composition. :) Great work, I look forward to your progress.!

11 November 2004, 02:27 PM
Wow, magnifique

What details, absolutely great... can`t wait for the colors. :bounce:
It reminds me the drawings of Giovanni Battista Piranesi of which I`m a big fan.

Awesome piece. The detail and scale of the image is just great. No real critique.

11 November 2004, 05:52 PM
Wow theres a lot of detail and depth in you piece. It a really different piece, looks pretty cool too. It is a little bit "busy" looking though, maybe it'll be alright when you intorduce some color. Cool stuff, keep it up man :buttrock:

this is the one that haunts me when i think of this competition . I can feel the ballet type thing your going for its very cool and original, epescially since the characters look like they could be very destructive , its ironic. I can't wait till those start coming , I hope you stay true to the feel of the image.

11 November 2004, 02:52 AM
this is really intense and fascinating - everytime I'm scrolling through I just stop and stare at it. like nomad said, Piranasi in Space!

awesome work man...great style...lots of details and original it

12 December 2004, 11:09 PM
Oh God!! It is really incredible! I never thoungh it would have so much detail till I saw the close-ups. Now I can see the little dancers in the foreground and it all make sense to me. Your work is awesome. Very beutifull. I see some textures in the background that look perfect as they look like as an anciente canvas surface. I cant imagine the color on it. As it is it remember me some Durero gravures, so I would like this feelings remains in the final image. Congratulations!

12 December 2004, 11:17 PM
To me the details are a litte too much, everything just fuzzes together. I could see with color though this peice looking very nice....strong work!

12 December 2004, 02:21 AM
Great work Tranchefeux! I'd like to see some colour, how you're going to go is quite intriguing. I wouldn't mind knowing a rough timeline on how long it took for your pencil's, I see the detail being very tedious, wonderful, but tedious.

Keep it comin!

12 December 2004, 05:02 AM
i'm in awe and so inspired but can't go that far in pencils. :banghead:. no crit here. GREAT raw creativity you got! keep posting Tranchefeux! :applause:

12 December 2004, 06:44 PM
your work is very impressive

i like your characters
good luck:thumbsup:

12 December 2004, 07:43 PM
Now that is what I call a detailed picture:thumbsup: Impressive man.... I admire you! I also prefer the 2 color verion, but would advice to try the blue colors with the low saturation for the buidings...

12 December 2004, 09:07 PM
The coloring gives a new dimension to those awesome details

Brilliant :bounce: my favorite 2d picture for this contest.
Your art is great.

12 December 2004, 10:21 PM
Wow...the detail in this is simply mind blowing O_O! The funny thing is that even with everything going on, its still easy to make out separate objects. Despite the presence of a mech, the colors and styling have a very old, somewhat asian feel to them. Love it, keep it up :D

12 December 2004, 11:42 PM
Hi Tranchefeux, it's coming along beautifully. I was of two minds as to putting colour on your incredible line art, but it works well I think. I'd say trying to mimic some subtle washes of ink would suit the line style beautifully, and you are doing that now. Less is more, don't detract from the huge effort you put into the lines. So unique, surreal, steampunk....

12 December 2004, 11:49 PM
I think there's too many details, hehehe

12 December 2004, 04:31 AM
That is crazy wicked!

That's all i have to say.

12 December 2004, 03:18 PM
Wow, what an exquisitely detailed piece of work. Recalls memories of pouring over Richard Scary's books as a child, with the intricately detailed images of busy little towns...

I very much like the gothic feel to it...kind of japanese fighting robots meet notre dame. Very cool...

12 December 2004, 03:48 PM
Hye, it is really good, you can see that my english is even worse than yours. Indeed, it is very ambitious, very intemized and, especially, very original, goes on just like that i think that you have your chances it indeed goes out certainly of the common place. I wait with impatience the final version

12 December 2004, 04:41 PM
very interesting style! I have a couple of comments: the chimneys or spires (or whatever...) at bottom right seem very flat in comparison to everything else; in contrast, the moons look a bit too speherical (we all know moons are spherical, but does the moon every actually look spherical?); the composition is curious, though I would suggest perhaps a brighter or lighter colour to bring out the faces, which would work well for me. At the moment I believe the metal plates on the calves of the righthand figure (of the main pair) capture all (or too much) of the viewers attention - tone them down a bit, and it'll work much better - I think anyway. :) hope this helps

12 December 2004, 09:11 PM
very good details i like it:thumbsup:

12 December 2004, 10:44 PM
By no means can i do anything as detailed as this but there is a rule which i think you should use a little because this is very good work. The rule is that lines in front are darker and thicker than lines behind, this scale is so big that this rule would clarify some things for the viewer and i think it would almost assure you contention....hopefully a win. There is a lot of overlapped stuff there, i know you are not finished yet, i just wanted to point out things that would tighten up the piece, the foreground is the thing i'd like to see really strongly presented. The foreground is actually HUGE and DARK in my mind. What do you think?

P.S. is that moon on the left inside the city??

12 December 2004, 10:53 PM
Hi Tranchefeux,

Very impressing development and interessting use of color.

The position of the planet behind the fighting characters looks strange to me because it seems to be placed infront of the buildings. I think the left part must run off behind the buildings.

12 December 2004, 12:20 AM
Holy crud, great detail. Nice concept - A+ for originality dude. Did I just write that dorky comment? Anyway, you're a breath of fresh air and a relief from all the spaceships, spacebattles, and over-sized blaster gun death ray things. I should talk - I'm working on my ship right now. Only comment I got for ya is I thought it would be nice if you could get more of a metalic feel to some of the textures that look as if you were going for metal, and are dominated by alot of the black you still have in there from working around your fantastic sketch.
see ya round.

12 December 2004, 12:41 AM

12 December 2004, 12:48 PM
WOW.. this is epic! I think I've allready mentioned how original I think this... a strong contender for sure in my opinion. My only crit so far would be that the colouring looks a little flat and there is a huge amount of detail right throughout to take in, but I still love it ; )

Banter3; thank you for your remarks.

Right say on the last post, that I is not to start
painting, I make just the search of the harmony of the colors, which
makes a little unmethodical for the moment, the colors passed quickly
under my drawing, the thing will evolve/move, but on this kind of
projects or there are small details the elements have evil to express
itself because the size of the stations is small "150k" compared to
the real size of the visual one.

Thank you to deliver to me your opinion for the choice of the harmony
of the colors while knowing that I seek an old environment but not too
a little like an old table.

Yours sincerely.

12 December 2004, 07:21 PM
I like #2. What I'd love to see is a bit more depth fading, some more atmosphere.

The blacks in the landscape in the background are as strong as those in the foreground, which is flattening the piece. I think there is so much phenomenal detail in the image that a little separation is necessary to pull out the key elements. Modifying your tones and adding a bit more atmosphere on near and far objects will help to do this.

A wonderful piece regardless!

12 December 2004, 08:19 PM
I think nothing!
It is awesome!

12 December 2004, 11:48 PM
hello france. i think the pic will be more "powerful" if you add in more "blue" color in it.
just my opinion :-)

that's grand!

12 December 2004, 01:34 AM
Thats just nuts. I vote for number 2. I think that the reds give the image just the right tone. But I also like that little red detail work on the planet from #4.

12 December 2004, 11:04 AM
Thank you with all for your last supports, and helps for the choice of
the harmony of the colors, I started to it true painting of the
project and chose harmony 2 but with a little of the 4, I post soon,
Thank you still for your support.
Yours sincerely.

12 December 2004, 12:06 PM
 :buttrock: Really wicked, really intense, really excellent...............a scary amount of depth.........i would go for just a little more vibrant colors, this scene is wild and fierce,it needs as much color intensity as can be......but..................I think you should still keep the darker type mood, what you already have....................Possibly just added intensity/vibrancy but dont fool with it too much as it is so very nice/wicked now...........

This is just absolutely rediculous! I can't even comprehend the amount of detail you have going on and the complexity of the piece!! I would feel myself luck if I had half the concentration and focus you appear to have! It's absolutely stunning. What resolution are you painting at?
Seriously, this is something that should be gracing a 5-story wall
Anyway, the only advice I can give is, with your extraordinarily complex linework, make sure you use shadows to give the viewer a sense of each object's form so it doesn't end up looking like a big mess of lines. You're doing great and it's 100% original

12 December 2004, 11:34 PM
i was checking around and seen your work amazing this is an awesome piece of art

colors and detail are wonderfull you are doing a very impresive job here and with much imagination on your work

i have question , do u inspire by eastern art? because i am thai , and your work remind me of my culture art! great work! good luck

12 December 2004, 10:48 AM
dont get me wrong i think this is awsome and all but i think there is a big problem when it comes to depth and defining form

most of the things in your image appears on one plane... and seems very flat.

anywho... i know you put alot of work into it so i just thought you might want to know.

12 December 2004, 08:07 PM
just keeps looking better all the time. I really like the delicate transparencies. They are a perfect accompaniment to the intense, busy darks.

12 December 2004, 09:03 PM
Again one of the best pieces I have seen on here, amazing detail, what patience, I only hope my entry has half the impact as yours.

The only thing I'd point out or question is the larger moon on the left, is it supposed to be in front of the buildings or is it farther away in the sky? If it's farther I would suggest having some of the buildings edges in front of it so it isn't confusing. Right now the buildings follow the edge of the moon too much in my opinion, also I would tone it down a bit and/or soften it to give it some distance.

If the moon is in front of the buildings then it doesn't make much sense to me for the moon to be that close to ground and in front of the structures (I know it's fantasy art but just something I wish to point out). Maybe I'm not seeing it correctly but that's the only part that bothers me slightly, other than that, it's awesome!

12 December 2004, 12:58 AM
That is one crazy painting! I love the distorted perspective and all the details. Great choice of colouring so far as well. Awesome stuff!!

12 December 2004, 01:59 AM
WOW! The colors boosted a hell of a lot your image!!:eek:

Wow! Treanchefeux, this is going better everytime! I do not imagine it in colors but I see it is going high. The ground perspective looks beutifull, with a great atmosfere. The only thing I do not like is the planet behind the first couple. It is too big and it is placed over some architectural structures so it looks to heavy, almost over the dancers, smashing them. I would prefer it to go behind the buildings, with the same size but up in the sky. Congrats! Good work!

Like someone said, the power from their feet doesn't feel strong enough. That could also be because there is no cast light eminating from it upon the architecture around. Of course I'm guessing you were planning to add this in later, but that's all i can really crit.
It's all the shues, I'm havinga tought time of it just in the beginning... nyyah...

12 December 2004, 11:37 PM
Amazing progress and level of detail! Colors really boost your sketch..and the old painting look is pretty much achieved.....Waiting for "one months touchings and tweaks!"

12 December 2004, 12:52 AM
This is amazing stuff.Such a scene, too wild for my imagination. One of the true inspirations for me.

12 December 2004, 04:29 PM
It looks very old picture with all that desaturated color scheme and texture that it has... But i think that the planet behind the main pair pops out too much, come infront of them coz of too saturated colors. I would almoust completely desaturated it, maybe lighten up it a bit, but nothing else... And Im not sure about this blue tone also. Those parts explode the picture in several pieces.. Thats the way it works to me. I agree that the blue should be used here, but in bigger pieces so it wouldnt be just here and there, some spots. My thoughts... otherwise, it is wooooaaaaw

That's better! (at least to me)
I didn't mean to be picky but not knowing where the moon was bothered me, now I see the relation and it looks great.
I also disagree about more power coming out of their rockets, this peace has a peaceful almost elegant them to it, I think stronger rockets would disrupt the harmony.
Excellent stuff, it's looking so good and you say you have more to do, wow!

I just love your drawings, I have nothing to say, except one question: Did your composition evolve from some classical structure, or was it completely "free"?

12 December 2004, 09:49 PM
Hi there!

Greeeeeat stuff!!! I love how your composition conveys the sense of scale, and I truly love your larger than life concept!

However, I find that in a scene this massive you should add some distance based effects, like haze and fog. This truky helps the eye to understand the relative scale of the elements!

Love the colors! Maginificent work overall... keep it yp!:bounce: :applause: :bounce:

12 December 2004, 11:25 PM
Hi Tranchefeux,

quite different from the usual stuff and what should i say i love it ;)
if it would be a normal pic i would sug. some more deepness,lighting/shadowing for a less flat
result but thats quite useless for this sort of style so keep it as it is and thx for sharing it with us.

Every time I go in here, I want to write something about this amazing piece of art. But nothing to add, people has said it all. Now, I want to be a part of this thread, before the challenge ends, so here is my words;

Level of details is crazy. I just don´t understand how a piece like this is done, really. And it is the most unique idea in both the 2d section, and in the 3d(I think, ofcource haven´t watched all works...). You have a great future ahead with this kind of talent. Just stay focused, and everything will happen, I promise you!

Hope to see this image as the winner of the 2d section.

01 January 2005, 10:20 PM
Hi mate!

Great job with the structural detail! This is one of the most difficult aspects to pull off and you're doing a brilliant work imho...

Also I'm glad you've added the fog and volumetric lighting to the background planes.
Truly grand stuff

01 January 2005, 10:29 PM
yea this is one crazy piece of work with all the details n stuff , bravo dude !

01 January 2005, 10:12 PM (

New overall picture of the advance of painting, the city of the
bottom is now finished as well as the scene and the cathedral I made
some adjustments on the structures for better an integration in the
decorations and to play with the atmospheric prospects, there remain
to me still the steps suspended to carry out but I can finally say
that I arrive at the end soon, once the work of painting finished he
will remain surely some adjustment and completions.

01 January 2005, 10:39 PM
I'm sorry I haven't posted on your thread sooner: You're really doing beautiful work, and the details are just fantastic. And you easily have the most original concept I've seen.

It's all looking great, but I just wanted to point out one area that I'm having touble with: The big planet in the background really comes forward a lot, feeling to me like it's much closer than i think it's supposed to be. It's because of its strong contrast, light on dark, cool on warm (especially those very worm hues at the top of the piece.) Decreasing the contrast some could help push it into the background more... Provided, of course, that that's something that you want to do. If not, no worreis! Good luck with it, and great work!

01 January 2005, 11:51 PM much details! Altough i can not focus anywhere on the image but i'm respectful to your patience! really...respect man! keep it up!

01 January 2005, 01:22 AM
I love the addition of the red in the sky and it seems you've added a red tint as well. I think that's really helped the piece. Amazing detail and imagination...

I do think that the upper left corner (buildings, planet area) is the most unresovled portion of the piece (if I can say that with so much amazing work going on). I would be tempted to treat the transition from building to planet much the same way you did in the upper right hand corner of the piece. I know you must be struggling with using that portion of the planet to frame your main characters in the blue of the planet... but I think that's becoming to obvious and is taking away from the rest of the piece.

I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Beautiful work!

01 January 2005, 01:42 AM
Tranchefeux, if you do not come out a winner in this challenge, expose 3 surely has a masters award waiting for you. This piece alone has advanced the potential and quality of digital media and broken new grounds in style. Great work, I wish great things for you

01 January 2005, 01:30 PM
Absolutely the most unique entry I've seen yet. Bravo!

01 January 2005, 04:30 PM
The amount of detail in this is insane! I can picture this as a gigantic wall painting depicting some long forgotten legends. It looks amazing.

01 January 2005, 06:26 PM
And just still thank you for your new supports and critical,
For my painting it remains to be made to me:
The steps which aren't finished, I still have planets,
and to perhaps change their hues? and
adjustments, I would like all to finish this week, for let rest a
little, before the ultimate final improvement for the final one.
With soon, for the very close end........

Yours sincerely.

01 January 2005, 07:11 PM (

To arrive to me here at the end of this painting, I estimate to have
finished as a whole. And corrections of colors I like the various
adjustments (for the moment?), and it is for me the end of a long
course when I look at my first drawing for the idea of the project.

I will let it rest a little my eyes, for a new glance, because I it is
that I still will improve some small things.

The end of a painting on which I have to pass a little time is for me
a disorder, because after him to have to better give my, I will let it
live his graphic advance, it is a kind of abandonments a relation
which this finishes, while waiting for a forthcoming realization.

01 January 2005, 07:28 PM
Great work Tranchefeux!
Easily the most work demanding entry in this challenge!
I love the fact youre going for gigantic poster look so much small detail.
Lovely close ups!

Finally some depth is appearing! Keep going with the greenish blue color from the left building. Once you have enveloped the scene with it will be like dream

Sky needs some detailing. Those brownish streaks. Almost like coffee marks needs to go.

Dont quit yet! So much to do! :bounce: :bounce:
Carry on! Remember that great men do need to suffer for art!

01 January 2005, 09:43 PM
Without any doubt, this is the most detailed, creative entry in the contest. I like the old, oriental designs on it, and whats amazing is that with so much going on, its easy to make out whats happening. Brilliant use of color and lighting.

01 January 2005, 09:45 PM
Always great, for me it's probably the best image for the style and the originality, it's the end of your works, great great great:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Ahhhh ben me v'la a reparler français, je me sens bien mieux, comme je l'ai déjà dit je pense que c'est ici l'une des meilleurs images du challenge, ne serait ce que par son originalité et par la technique de peinture, c'est vraiment géant, je suis fan, à mon humble avis, y va y avoir un français dans le peloton de tête
vraiment un trés bon work, oooops travail
