10 October 2004, 11:39 PM (

Thinking about two planets of oposing war sides crashing into each other...

10 October 2004, 11:46 PM (

Some kind of a secret place with a nice
view. In the back - twin planets of war,
or piece, or love...

10 October 2004, 11:48 PM
Great start mate.....looking forward to more=)

10 October 2004, 11:59 PM

I missed you all, and your works!!!

Talk to you soon, over there in your threadz...

10 October 2004, 12:30 AM
There's some interesting depth in the second sketch. The big shapes on the left side are dramatic and seem huge.

10 October 2004, 12:32 AM
There's some interesting depth in the second sketch. The big shapes on the left side are dramatic and seem huge.

i tend to agree on this one :bounce:

10 October 2004, 01:01 AM
I definitely agree, alot of images usually lack the correct feeling of scale, but you did a nice job

I'll be watching to see this one take shape

10 October 2004, 01:39 AM
I lke the last one, killer look and the scale works.:bounce:

10 October 2004, 06:01 AM
I love both: the 1st and 2nd Sketch... !

10 October 2004, 06:09 AM
how are you?
nice to see you here, good luck on your way.
this sketch looks great while i still didn't get it exactly. he he :)

10 October 2004, 06:55 AM
you are indeed capturing that big feeling

10 October 2004, 07:00 AM
Interesting start.... Sketch 1 and 3 get my vote

10 October 2004, 07:23 AM
wow ,colliding planets , now there's a challenge !

10 October 2004, 11:25 PM (

The Shark vessel...eclipse in the back.

10 October 2004, 11:28 PM (

The lost scout...

10 October 2004, 11:31 PM (

The owners of the five planets - group photo. :-D
Supernova wipeout imminent...

Thank for viewing!!

10 October 2004, 11:51 PM
I like your concept #6. I wouldn't envy you having to model the people, though. I'm still getting my feet wet with people and have decided to work with spaceships for this one.

Good luck, I look forward to your progress with whatever concept you pick.

10 October 2004, 12:06 AM
number #4 , nice colors and atmosphere!

10 October 2004, 12:09 AM
Yeah, I'm going with the sketch #6 - group photo.
I'll recompose and make it more wide.
Some elements from other sketches will be included, too.

It's going to be fun!

10 October 2004, 12:21 AM
I think the group shot is a good choice. Those guys make a nice center of interest, and there's a lot of nice background space for stuff to happen.

10 October 2004, 07:19 AM
I'd be inclined to agree about the group photo #6 - but there's something very charming about 'the lost scout' as well, though I can see that in the end, #6 will be more grand and epic.

10 October 2004, 07:25 AM
but there's something very charming about 'the lost scout' as well,

I rather like that one myself to be honest :)

10 October 2004, 08:33 AM
me like Lost Scout too...but anything u like better....i know i will see eye candy stuff ....Bubble Nut :arteest:

10 October 2004, 08:43 AM
Nice to see you here Daniel... an another a great job in perspective... go go go :bounce:

10 October 2004, 11:13 AM
Sketch 6!!! :bounce:

10 October 2004, 08:14 AM
Hi empy, concept sketch 6 looks cool.

10 October 2004, 08:17 AM
Shark vessel i think that it can be exellent image ( dont suspect that the others wont :))

just think that this one can really be great... ship going in sun......mmm :D

10 October 2004, 11:25 PM (

Thanks for your comments!!
Sorry if I'm not replying as I should...I'm so out-of-time for this.
(don't be mad if I'm not fast on replies, please)

Anyway, just caught an hour or so to start this baby up.

For the guys that like TheLostScout, you got me thinking there...thanks for that!!

Lets go freestyling again, woohoooo!!!

10 October 2004, 11:30 PM (

mmmmmm, icecream.....

10 October 2004, 11:43 PM
I expected some beautiful and surreal like atmosphere from you daniel.......And you did not dissapoint.A real nice mood, and a nice touch of surrealism........Keep on keeping on Brother........:arteest:

10 October 2004, 11:47 PM
@Virtuoso: Thanks, Bro, for your swift response!! see you around ;-)

10 October 2004, 11:51 PM
Did I miss a sketch? The latest render looks great - but how is it going to tie in with the theme?

10 October 2004, 11:59 PM
alway impressing me, i love your work and the last one really simple but has the touch you always made to bring it live

nice work keep having fun and show more soon
good luck

10 October 2004, 01:25 AM
I found you dude, great concepts and the icecream looks yummy...peppimint with chocolate...mmmmm!!!
Looking forward to more

10 October 2004, 07:35 AM
Great start.:scream: I like it. Is this base for final image?

10 October 2004, 08:07 AM
Man, you have so many ideas at once... I really like all of your pictures, they have a nice atmosphere, but I think that some of them lack the iconic, epic, universe critic time. You should try to combine some of your ideas in the same picture, so that there is something really important going on.

10 October 2004, 08:07 AM
:bounce: wow, love the texture and that nice soft glow on the highlights. :) Can't wait to see what else you'll bring into this scene.

10 October 2004, 08:39 AM
Neato icecream Daniel! You still know your way around groovy looking shaders ;)

10 October 2004, 09:13 AM
This image looks very nice, but it's a bit soon for loosing time on any type of rendering......don't you think?
Try to gather informations about all the details in your project before you chose to start modeling job, and there is a time for good rendering later on.
I hope that this is helpfull for you. Anyway, great start so far and keep on posting.

10 October 2004, 08:49 PM
the show has begun...your art is rocking again mate!..are u going to post about your materials...they looks nice....ill be watching u!

10 October 2004, 09:33 PM
And the monster Lesson on shadind and ambient atmosphere has began boys and girls....
Man u really need to write a tutorial on these shaders of yours...BUBBLE NUTS MR SHADERS. :bounce:

10 October 2004, 10:00 PM
what the heck! That looks gorgeous!!

10 October 2004, 02:47 AM
Thanks guys!!!

The "iceCream" shader (max 7) scene file is HERE (
explore, use, modify, experiment, and have fun :-D :bounce:

10 October 2004, 03:59 AM
looking quite good already!! i'll stay tuned

10 October 2004, 01:11 AM
The last enviorment conveys a sense of serenity. I am wondering what kind if of characters or machinaery you are planning on populating this surreal seaside world?

Does this enviroment extend further out??

11 November 2004, 05:00 PM
Hello EmpY,

I think that "lost scout" and "group photo" are 2 really interesting sketches...the first one remembered me the ink/watercolor paintings of Victor Hugo, so I decided to go back and research something on him and i found that...well..they are quite different...anyway...I agree with Simoncvy and incidentally with Theron: you should develope those early ideas and show us that you are not going to forget them, before starting with icecreams :)

thank you. Have a nice work.

11 November 2004, 11:02 PM
nice one.. looks like it could be interesting!

12 December 2004, 04:24 AM (

Merry christmas mate!

12 December 2004, 03:19 PM
ahh , the missing chaotic element , finally you're back ! things almost got
boring in here . Well things could never get totally boring, not with people like
dimi and lemog around, but excluding that :)

great stuff u got there again , i like the robed dudes and the jellyfish thingy...
those planets gonna be like two opposing planes connected by some glowing
beam of light ?

can't wait to see mthe next update

and merry christmas , dude !

12 December 2004, 06:18 PM
Hi EmpY,

12 December 2004, 09:59 AM

12 December 2004, 10:21 AM
I know I've been an a$$...not visiting and commenting in other threads :-( ... that's going to change (!)

dont worry , u do what u got time for, I haven't visited half the threads I've wanted to...

Cool update , although planets are hardly recognizable now , even as planets..they just seem
like shapes..
same with the 5 dudes , get lost between the two contrasty formation things ...seem to
blend with the brown rock...that purposeful ?...

12 December 2004, 12:08 PM
Empy.....whats up brother........really fine results, and so quick, ambiant and moody with a touch of surrealistic "EMPY" style to it.......Nice to see you gain, and keep it strong......:arteest:

searching for the right feel...

12 December 2004, 06:37 AM
hmmm... I prefer a little the basic mood of the picture in the previous page... here, that's too pink for me... I don't know exactly what I feel now... maybe the picture need to be more red or orange than pink... with always the sand color mood...

Yeah for the Scout

12 December 2004, 09:41 AM
hmmm... I prefer a little the basic mood of the picture in the previous page... here, that's too pink for me... I don't know exactly what I feel now... maybe the picture need to be more red or orange than pink... with always the sand color mood...

:hmm: or maybe bring some of the blue back in

01 January 2005, 11:02 PM
nice work, but I think you insist too much with that lens effect. I like this small foggy effect, seems like is real this levitation atmosphera. keep going

01 January 2005, 07:19 AM
I must say those rocks are the best CG rocks I've seen in a long time. Maybe the best ever. Did you use Zbrush for the displacement map?Nice scene overall, but those rocks.... Wow!

I agree that you should lose the lens flare. Yuck.

01 January 2005, 03:14 PM
I like the color play and everything in your works , always so fresh :bounce:

01 January 2005, 03:49 PM
The color corrections to green are outstanding. But you have lost a bit of detail on rocks.

01 January 2005, 04:28 PM
Green is Majestic and awesome....but i would suggest my friend to reconsider with the Blue one 'cuase also there u have such yellow - orange lava glow( )....i don't know ..i don't want to confuse u :)

01 January 2005, 10:55 AM
Hi Daniel, heard of u from Dimi about your unique style - that's it for sure, man!
Really nice. Mostly i like the green one - looks somehow mystical and strange in a
