11-14-2004, 07:46 AM (

hi , i think i will go with this concept! the story is .....
it's the final battle of galacxy war in the distant future!the technology and war strategy is back to native . this the scene of the greatest space sniper code name "dark assasin" he is the key point of the war !he can kill the target from very far length with his deadly weapon!no one can stop him even huge battle ship or large fighting robot...maybe this conflict will end with his bullet!!!

that's it !!
sorry for my english , need your comments!!!

11-14-2004, 03:34 PM
Great Start dude.Complex as usual.R u going to do any modelsheet for the "dark assasin".Can't

11-14-2004, 05:03 PM
Wow i never realised you were on of the finalists in the last two challenges when i last visited you thread. Anyway i went and view your links in you previous works and they are great stuff. Simple but strong, while still has enough detail. I'm gonna have to visit your thread more often now  I hope you can show us some cool stuff in this challenge too. And thanks for your feedabck too.

11-16-2004, 05:36 PM (

Hi, i decide to change my concept from my 2d to 3d and i hope it will be my final concept!! here is the story...
" In the distant future , human try to find the new place to live and more resources to feed themself ..
finally survey ship has arrived the edge of the universe and found that they don't be alone in the universe!

11-16-2004, 07:24 PM
What a big monster we have here! I really like the scale of it! Your last sketch/line-art is very dynamic and neat. You'll have a lot of fun to make in 3d... Lots of details!!!

Can't wait to see the final work!
Good luck!:)

11-17-2004, 01:56 AM
I truely enjoy this illustration. Very vivid lines, a dynamic sense of scale. This reminds me of some work from the mag. Heavy Metal. You should check it out. I think this composition should be rendered using a fish eye lens to highten the effect of the curved forms....

great work keep it up.

11-17-2004, 09:54 AM

It reminds me of that one Amano drawing where Terra is sitting on her Machine looking out towards the city.
Not too sure about that big monster though. His cool and all but its really werid;p

11-17-2004, 02:27 PM
hmm you and your awesome concepts! hehe, it's amazing! i really want to see this in 3d! chow us more more!

good luck!!

11-17-2004, 03:31 PM

11-17-2004, 06:24 PM
Wow! Awsome sketch. But on the other hand, I remember your robot on the the competition on threedy which was also outstanding and modelled really fast. This will certainly be a very interesting thread to watch.

Go for it!

11-17-2004, 06:52 PM

11-20-2004, 11:14 PM
hi monsitj[/url]

I think this is a wonderful perspective, and I like your drawing style its like Marvel comics
style, I cant wait to see the finished monster,

I dont think I will know my final perspective until I start modeling, I think dramatic perspective
is important in Space themes,

Good luck

here is the dropship ! comments are welcome

11-22-2004, 06:29 PM
hummm i prefer the original desgin (from your draw) more smooth more organic. If you want to keep this one you have to add more details i think. oviously it's only advises,... and perhap's i like your original draw so much ... i don't know

11-23-2004, 12:04 AM
I dont know...I like the second one aswell, but definitelly more detail is needed. It will look great as a final composition!

11-23-2004, 01:02 AM
many thanks for your suggestion! but this is the small ship at the bottom of my layout , i used the same as my sketch , anyway , comments is needddd!!

11-23-2004, 06:27 PM
your ship looks great, and i really like the design you had on the previous model postings with the thing attached to the back of the guy (haha, i hope you know which one i'm talking about).

11-23-2004, 09:34 PM
yoooooooou haveeeee a very busy detailing model
good luck:eek:

11-24-2004, 10:09 AM
fantastic detailing. keep going.

11-24-2004, 03:19 PM (

11-24-2004, 06:05 PM
hey the latest ship looks insane man.. awesome modeling job here... i like those guns and wings... keep it up

11-24-2004, 06:18 PM
Man what details, that looks absolutely superb

Great work

11-24-2004, 07:19 PM
Just hit your thread for the first time.
Your concept sketches look awsome. The Drop ship looks great. Can't wait to see it finished.

11-24-2004, 07:34 PM
Looking good. Not much to crit. That looks massive for a dropship, like it would hold 100+ troops.

11-25-2004, 09:52 AM
good model, texturing time

11-25-2004, 10:09 AM
Great Model m8, can't wait to see it textured :bounce:

keep it up!

11-25-2004, 12:49 PM
I thinking the concept is great. But the ship is to much like all rest, perhap more original design, because concept and modeling is very good, but ship is like to many other.Still this is nice work for sure.

11-26-2004, 06:29 PM (

here is mother ship , main element in my scene , comments are welcome

11-26-2004, 06:50 PM
Noting to say:buttrock:

11-26-2004, 06:53 PM
nice to check some update here. very heavy ship Monsit, i like the detail on the rear area. details! details!:bounce:

11-26-2004, 07:30 PM
great work. I love the character element to your space battle. I was hoping to see someone put a battle from aboard a bridge, or tie in the pilots in someway to the scene. Great work. Bravo.

11-27-2004, 05:14 AM
I like the work on the mothership thus far but honestly it doesn't strike me as being very large. To truly achieve a sense of scale I would reduce the size of the engines and wings by quite a bit. Right now it feels more like a fighter. Excelent modeling though.

11-27-2004, 06:04 AM
many thanks guys , your comments are very useful ,and,
yes, fuzzy modem, i totally agree with you too! i just find the way to make it look large scale and your advice make me clear! many thanks !

11-27-2004, 03:17 PM
that's a great looking ship. but i agree that it somehow doesn't look big. Maybe the scale of the details ( eg the guns?) is too large, or it needs contrast to other smaller ships to give it a sense of scale? keep it coming.

11-27-2004, 03:20 PM
very good !!! :d

11-27-2004, 03:21 PM
Great composition and modeling, this is going to kick ass. Nick work! peace out.

11-27-2004, 04:16 PM
great model i like it men:thumbsup:

11-28-2004, 03:32 PM (

this is new design of mother ship , it just occlusion pass ,and my computer begin to cry :< some problem still exist , so comments are welcome

11-28-2004, 03:55 PM
Great models monsitj, really great... anxious for more!

11-28-2004, 04:26 PM
Hey man... If you texture these ships with the level of details and precision that you've modelled it, I will fall from my chair:bounce: awsome!

11-28-2004, 05:02 PM
I kinda like that new design - a bit lumpy and organic... good combination of hard and soft shapes

11-28-2004, 06:11 PM
i prefer this one :d

very good :D

11-28-2004, 11:58 PM
freakin update Mon!'s kinda bright tho. :bounce:

11-29-2004, 01:17 AM
good work
i cant wait to see the textures.
i dont have suggestion or critics here
good luck man, but i think you dont need them, you so good
take care dude have fun. :bounce: :applause:

11-29-2004, 01:31 AM
i like your design. it's very technical and believable, that's something hard to achieve i know it for myself. i can't decide what version of mothership i like more. new one looks more massive but older one has more interesting shape. hard to choose. anyway, very good work.

11-29-2004, 01:35 AM
Very nice Monsit................I like both versions of the Mothership.......for some reason I prefer the first,I think the second has too many thrusters or hover exhausts........but thats just a taste thing. What you do have looks very nice, and the overall idea and concept are not only interesting but well planned and set fpr a dramatic shot.......Nice going, and keep it in the fast lane.............:arteest:

11-29-2004, 02:40 AM
Man these models are like butter! the lights are a bit bright so it's washing it out a bit. But the back looks great!

11-29-2004, 06:41 AM
 WOW your models are alsome. I really love the design and the fine details, that's must be really high poly stuff... i haven't check this thread in a while and you seem to be making excellent progress, i can't wait to see more.

11-29-2004, 07:16 AM
It looks awesome. It is very natural looking. Like it was built into an asteroid or something like that. looks cool.

11-29-2004, 10:36 AM
Fantastic modelling...nothing to fault you on!

11-29-2004, 01:22 PM
Umbelieveable modeling. awesome models. Very nice.

Good luck

11-30-2004, 06:40 PM (

another update , mothership , i think it's near finish, still need your comments!

11-30-2004, 07:13 PM
i like to watch your progress, ship grows every day :). I see some difference in amount of detail betwenn rear and side of ship. maybe few more details next to two radial things could do some good.

11-30-2004, 07:47 PM
Oh my goodness gracious me!!! hehehehhe:).Man , i havenīt words, excelent work .

Can u put a wire image of ur model?.
Sorry for my bad english :D

12-01-2004, 03:35 AM
I'm very impress by the details and the beveling work on the model. It almost needs no complicated texturing. Perhaps in the lighting phase, add a few contrasting colored spotlights to highlight each section of the ship to retain the intricate model structure.

12-01-2004, 01:52 PM
Great work. No crits from me.

12-01-2004, 02:13 PM
I agree. Really, really nice work

12-01-2004, 02:19 PM
your idea is very very nice, your model is excelent.
keep working:)

12-01-2004, 02:33 PM

12-01-2004, 06:01 PM
Yeah, very nice mothership.
The question is, where is the father? :)
Great job monsitj.

12-01-2004, 06:04 PM
another update , mothership , i think it's near finish, still need your comments!
I can't help but love those beefy engines! Very nice model. :)

12-01-2004, 07:42 PM
woooow man this thing looks real!!... stunning modleing and amazing detailing... just speechless... keep smashing man!!

12-02-2004, 02:20 AM
The ship is full of details to look my greatest joy friend i see that not only u paint your concepts with thousands of little things to look at but also u model the same way...

are u going to keep the soft lines on the outside or u will make that also in hard lines?

12-02-2004, 02:24 AM
Cool ship dude...very of the best I've seen on this challenge so far... :applause:

12-02-2004, 02:26 AM
many many thanks for your comments guys!!

12-02-2004, 07:22 AM (

move from ship to the main element in my scene ! hero
pilot WIP , need comments

12-02-2004, 09:03 AM
very good 2d-concept, and detailed modeling, also great detailing of the ships  ... your going to paint on the final render or texture your models?

12-02-2004, 09:48 AM
The hero pilot wip looks very promising

Only thing I can think of to tweak at this phase is the thickness of his legs just below the knee... looks a little bit too thin and weak there... just an observation.

12-02-2004, 04:51 PM
i agree with James--he looks a little thin from the butt down to the backs of his knees. great stuff, otherwise, though.

12-02-2004, 05:23 PM
That ship is amazing IMO. Although I like spaceships and similar things, I generally don't get too excited about them, even many of those that are well modeled. But I just love the balance of organic and mechnical details in this, and it is well modeled as well. There are not many spaceship models that I truly like, but this looks like it will be one of them. I think you should put up another view around the other side so we can see more of the ship. Cool character you have there also.

12-02-2004, 05:40 PM (

i put all of my modeling test to form the composition roughly , the pilot pit still in progress, so , comments are welcome

12-02-2004, 08:07 PM

Your making good progress, I still have a lot to do, with the textures I would suggest an Iron or

heavy metal, if you want the space ship to look heavy or aggressive. I ll follow this thread

check my link

Paul P. Patina!

12-02-2004, 08:11 PM
Awesome details man :applause:

One comment: I think the pilot is too close to the engines, he will be burned alive in reality :argh: but I don`t see here his exact position... if you can post a side view that will be great.

Keep up the great work

12-02-2004, 08:45 PM
Hi there Monsit!
I'm watching Your entry first time and i must say, it is astonishing, very beautiful indeed! All models are very detailed, have the right and quite original design, looks really great! Thumbs up for sure! Cant wait to see your final entry, btw when are the textures comming?:scream:

12-02-2004, 09:20 PM
The composition test looks really great! However, it lacks some of the intensity from the original drawn concept... I hope you'll manage to translate that too into 3D :bounce:

12-03-2004, 01:21 AM
It looks good, but the concept sketch was better... it had several levels... If you sould follow it to the letter, it would be good. However, I think you need to point something out: the warrior, something flying out of the ship, something exploding into bits... The composition still lacks visual balance, everything seem homogenous, and without contrast. But the models are good, the rendering is ok, you just neeed to emphasize it visually. Keep up the good work!

12-03-2004, 02:37 AM
I know what you are doing with your concept.....i think maybe a way to add a good depth to it would be part the clouds a bit and add alow us to see a city scape beneath..or move the ships closer to the ground....for all I know that is what you are planning ...and if so consider my foot officialy in my mouth..... :argh:

12-03-2004, 01:47 PM
Wow, you can see where this is going. right now it looks a bit flat, but I think that texturing and lighting are what will bring the focus to the composition.

How did you do your background?

12-03-2004, 05:56 PM
wow just like that.. i got nothing to crit but one thing.. it seens to me that the bending of the knee of the character is a bit unnatural looking...i donno if its just me... btw u got an amazing pace and ur modeling is out of this world... very cool mate.. keep up teh good works..!

12-03-2004, 06:18 PM
This looks sweet ! u gonna put only one ship type in the pic ?

12-04-2004, 01:07 AM

12-05-2004, 07:04 PM (

here is work in progress of pilot , and many thank for all of your consturctive comments , i will try my best as i can!

12-06-2004, 04:16 AM
hey Mon, i like those details.... well, i should say kick-butt update. keep posting:bounce: .

12-08-2004, 05:17 PM
i am stunned by the detail on your models really amazing and great composition

this is really great i will be watching for more keep it up

12-08-2004, 05:43 PM
i am stunned by the detail on your models really amazing

 ditto........that and I find their design 'very' cool

12-08-2004, 11:28 PM
brilliant design & execution so far, but i'm not too keen on the way the rifle's shoulder stock is positioned outside the shoulder. it'd look much better if it was inside, & that way you'd get a nice profile of the shoulder & face. also, everyone knows this is the correct way to aim a rifle, as demonstrated in the picture below ;)

12-09-2004, 12:26 AM
 very well done Mon! keep up the cool work and

12-09-2004, 01:02 AM

Fantastic outcome so far... really love the detail you managed to put in the pilot, great concept and modelling work. Well done

12-09-2004, 01:07 AM (

U want comments ah? ...ok u are... :banghead: :banghead:

I always liked your idea on i am glad to see that u deliver...i am happy to see this from it's birth

12-10-2004, 07:26 AM (

here a little update, i working on an ancient god , modeling in wing ,

12-10-2004, 07:39 AM
Oh man you're just a natural... Even the character's anatomy is perfect....
I think the gun looks fine the way it is. Both ways work really, shoulder stock inside will definitely give your character's figure a more defined look as mentioned, shoulder stock outside makes him somewhat 'cooler'. So I guess it's really your choice.

Cheers man

12-10-2004, 07:56 AM
your designs are amazing.. well done. I really like the concept. Hoping for more updates soon

12-10-2004, 04:17 PM (

texturing test with displacement map , and preview with height field , a lot more work to do ..... comments are welcome!

12-10-2004, 05:05 PM
You're pilot is really good! I like what you have done with the chair, very original looking and those details are pretty impressive. I can't wait to see how you finalize the ancient god :)

12-12-2004, 12:32 AM (

overall composition , i paint over my rendering to place
all element in my scene , alien an missle trail is paint to get some idea of compositon , need your comments!!

12-12-2004, 01:01 AM
This is great update monsitj, tho i liked latest scene concept better. Right now alien is some not-so-big threat in distance but here ( you drew his head above all front ships. Looks bigger and that greylines suggest greater distance (fog) so he is even bigger. this is my most favourite sketch of all contest.

12-12-2004, 01:22 AM
thats sick man, sick detail .just :eek::eek::eek::eek:

12-12-2004, 02:20 AM
That's what i'm doing. My keyboard just shorted out. This is one of the most unique pieces I've seen. The modeling is sweet and a clean.
BTW is that Mirai that you've used for some of the modeling?

12-12-2004, 02:34 AM
Looking great!

I can't wait to see it when you have made some of the ship approaches a little more dynamic (different angles of attack) and I especially can't wait to see the final creature in there.

I think this is going to be an absoutely stunning piece when you're finished!

12-12-2004, 02:48 AM
turbinea : many thanks for your comments ! and it very important point , now i increase the size of alien and it's look great( i think)! many thanx!

jdsb : heheheh , thanks man!!

kntemplar: i use wings3d for modeling is very fast and its' free!!

12-12-2004, 03:02 AM
Wow! I've missed so much great stuff in here! About the composition, I think it works very well. The balance between the elements work perfectly. Maybe just one point would be about functionality with the attack formation of the battleships. I don't know what kind of missiles they'll use, but it seems to me that some of them might be too much in the way of others. Maybe just play more with the attitude would work or maybe they have special weapons... Anyway, they will just split when they get nearer. I'm no military specialist, so don't take my comment too seriously, I may certainly be wrong! :)

Good work!

12-12-2004, 09:14 AM
Hi there Monsit!
I mean whoah!!! This concept rocks :buttrock: Now time for crits :) IMHO one of the bottom ships shoud be hit by one of the monsters rockets, that would give a nice touch. And second that those distat ships are too far away, dunno, if they are offensive class ships then they should also attack the monster, otherwise ist quite good :)
Really great job here!

12-12-2004, 09:20 AM
Hi monsitj,

your comp. really rocks :buttrock: I also like the idea of a huge alien sitting at the edge of the rocks waiting to die :)

12-12-2004, 11:27 AM
Hey Mr Mechanic:eek:

12-12-2004, 04:59 PM
wow.. I don't have any crits for you .. only praise
comp is just sick... the details are very inspiring. .

keep up the good work

12-12-2004, 05:13 PM
ditto :bounce:

12-12-2004, 07:30 PM
Well, that composition is most certainly working. Simply awesome work.

12-12-2004, 07:53 PM
excellent ! can't wait to see the monster modeled !

PS. dat sniper kitty was cool , 'mb

12-12-2004, 08:02 PM
Wow Monsit, this is just great! Can't wait to see your texturing... absolutely wonderful!

12-12-2004, 08:29 PM

I hope for the textures!!!

many thanks for your kind words!! here is a little update , it's alien in low poly ,

12-14-2004, 04:23 PM
good grief :argh:

12-14-2004, 04:48 PM
very good job... donīt know if youīr going to textur each elements... but you could give greys-dark green colors to your space-ships... or others tones.. to contrast whit the backround... etc... but really like it

12-15-2004, 02:25 AM (

this very quality update Mon, and excellent lighting for sure. very promising job.

12-16-2004, 02:46 PM (

here is alien , it's just low poly and my machine start to cry! comments are welcome

12-16-2004, 03:16 PM
trying to comment when my jaw dropped on my keybaord.:scream: okay, you might want add some debris crashing down/exploding neear the monsters knee. oh, you have better in mind am sure. make that machine cry for more. be back buddy!

12-16-2004, 03:22 PM
Maybe your creature could climb out of a crater placed on top of the canyon. This will give him the touch of a mule like in Roland Emmerich`s Gozilla and you dont have to model the legs :)

12-16-2004, 03:40 PM
Holy Cow! Amazing work. :applause: :applause:

12-16-2004, 04:45 PM
HI monsitj

Your making great progress, I love your composition the way its developing are you going to use daylight lighting!

I still have a lot of work to do!

heres my link

all the best, Paul P, Patina

12-16-2004, 09:53 PM (

another update , mothership , i think it's near finish, still need your comments! The modeling thesis presented is entirely delicious! I am reminded of the kind of detail and artistry in the early RoboTech Series whereby the ships of the (Zentraedi sp?)giant alien species had this wonderful beveled soft/hard matrix of constructed ships.

Wonderful work!

12-17-2004, 02:19 AM
I really like the wires you add to your alien machine monster. They definitely add a little something to your scene. They feel very alive too, even if it's a still image. That's quite a god sign... Good job!:)

12-17-2004, 04:47 AM
wooow! extremely complex! all those details blur my sight! and the concept! really, nothing to critic, i cant wait for the texturing :)

12-17-2004, 05:55 AM
Hi Monsit!

Ho ho ho, now this is one bad looking alien monster, no really it looks perfect dude :) Fits extremelie well in the scene

12-17-2004, 08:10 AM
Wow, just want to say hi krub. I'm from bkk too. Didn't know there's Thai people here doing such a wonderful job. :applause:

Help me out too na krub, I just started my first entry here. :bounce:

12-17-2004, 08:14 AM
really like your monster composition, and the lightning... remember me a little the final fantasy movie...

12-17-2004, 08:33 AM
oh man, your modelling skill is mad. ships and char look fantastic. keep it up, want to see the monster in final...

12-17-2004, 05:23 PM
Ahh - that alien monster looks so good! Amazing work you're doing here

12-17-2004, 07:26 PM
Wow! You are an expert modeler and that's no joke. This is quite a unique concept as far as space battles go. In fact, I don't think I've seen anything with a huge vicious beast in it yet. I especially like how the viewer feels like they're part of the scene due to the composition.
There is one thing I question though. I haven't read all the comments, so you might have already addresed this, but if not here it is; the hero in the foreground doesn't really look like he's focused on or pointing at the target. It kinda looks like he's looking at something else off screen that we can't see, which is a bit odd since I thought he was the one to deal the death blow.
Anyhow, amazing work!

12-17-2004, 11:10 PM
WoW! I am amazed with this piece of work. The alien looks ugly... hee hee that the way it should be huh. Its very impressive stuff you have going here. Nice work.

12-18-2004, 01:30 AM (

here is alien texture in detail , lot's of displacement , comments are welcome

12-18-2004, 01:43 AM
many thanks for all of your encouragements!!
Sharga: yeah , your point is good! , i make pilot in prepare positon because he is stlll very far away from alien , his attack can't reach alien , so he has to prepare to be in range!

12-18-2004, 02:04 AM
Hey, Monsitj! I've commented on your 2D thread a bunch but I rarely make it over here to see the 3D stuff. But now that I have, I'm blown away. your piece is so very cool! The ship is great! The soldiers are great! The alien is great! Just color me thoroughly amazed. Good work!

12-18-2004, 03:24 AM
I'll say lots of displacment...but it looks good...nice sss effect to on the skin...whats you r set up...?

12-18-2004, 09:05 AM
Hi Monsit!
Whoah, that really is one nasty monster! The SSS does the trick here, great job

12-18-2004, 12:12 PM
Ooh, what a cute face! I just want to cuddle it :D

Neat modeling!

12-18-2004, 12:48 PM
Oh some nice work here.Any chance of a closeup of the charcater, and the creature? The creature looks a bit graney as of now, textures look a bit muddy, unclear. But it's wip,so.Still some of the best I seen so far.I quess textures will be important to stay that way.Good luck, nice so far for sure.:applause:

12-18-2004, 02:31 PM
Hi monsitj!

Tell more on its configurations in the scene!

12-18-2004, 02:33 PM
Poetry...this is visual poetry...there's really no fault that I can find in your work.

12-18-2004, 06:45 PM (

many many thanks guys! i need your help , i combine all of my render in compositing stage and it has new lay out , and i don't sure which one is the choice so any comments are very welcome

12-18-2004, 06:56 PM
Absolutely amazing stuff you got going there, I have totaly missed somthing here:sad:

I think the A image givs a better overview of whats happening but the B picture is more interesting to look at, so I thonk you should go on with image B and its more true to the original consept wich is really great to btw.

12-18-2004, 07:03 PM
I would go with Image A has more action and the eye flows in to it more drastic

12-18-2004, 07:04 PM
I'll vote 'A' as well. It really kicks, while 'B' is far too busy IMHO.

12-18-2004, 07:08 PM
Go with A... b is way to cluster F**ed... ..A is nice and smooth open but still alot of action

12-18-2004, 08:24 PM
My choice is A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A

It makes a ship being abated...more sensationalism!!

12-18-2004, 08:45 PM
i agree with mr_carl. i vote for B, with wider view of enviroment so we can see whats going on like on A version. if you combine both version you get your last concept which is my favourite.

12-18-2004, 09:39 PM
A "godzilla-size" between your A-B view... and I donīt like too much the tentacle you put in front... it make you loose the sense of giant-monster... really good work...

12-19-2004, 08:59 AM
Hi Monsit!
Yeap, the A image is better, it has less chaotic look and its better that way :bounce:
Btw imo You should mve here the farthest most ship a bit closer to the camera cause it looks now as it will crash into the monster in a couple of seconds.

12-19-2004, 10:02 AM

Awesome work again!!!

For me, I think the A image looks more interesting. But you might add some more contrast to your image. And make a pilot looks more clear from the ship might be better. Just my opinion...

Good Luck to you :D

12-19-2004, 10:22 AM (

i combine a and b image into one and increase size in vertical , need comments,

champ! how r u, long time no see , good luck man!

12-19-2004, 12:41 PM
Great, great, great!!!

More, more, more better!!!

This arms(??) of alien, makes they to attack a ship!!

12-19-2004, 12:48 PM
hi there

really enjoying your progress.. excellent work you are creating

personally I'd go with A

12-19-2004, 01:05 PM
Amazing image here

I think I will leave the "wide screen" format of the A composition, it adds dynamics and guides better the spectator eye. Maybe try to make the monster about 15% bigger/closer and that will be great ; also it will be nice if we can see a ship verry close to it (crashed?) to see the scale compared to the forground ships.

Great work  I`m looking for more :bounce:

12-19-2004, 02:38 PM
quite good, but not enough. i dont want to be annoying (if it already happened, please ignore me) but monster's head should be higher. somewhere in upperleft corner. scenery is wide enough to see what's going on, only monster coulde pose more threat. if it means more modeling you can cover some parts under explosions from missiles. Nomad suggested good idea about comparing scales. if crashed ship is not good maybe city on bottom of canyon could help.

12-19-2004, 03:01 PM
i've been really enjoying watching this progress, so i couldn't help but do a quick paint-over & suggest some ideas (hope you don't mind):

the thing i liked most in your original drawing was the way the sniper was in the top right of the pic, as though he's suspended under a wing, & it gives a real sense of depth below him. also, i think the monster needs to look like it poses more of a threat to this hi-tech army, so you should show the humans getting a beating too :)

12-19-2004, 04:49 PM
Holly mother of God... I... I... I... :bounce:

12-19-2004, 04:51 PM
Wow that's definitely stronger composition in my opinion. Very good job

12-19-2004, 05:43 PM
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW very very very gooooooood work

12-19-2004, 08:48 PM
Hi Monsit....i don't know any other way to say this..i will say it as simply as i can friend......I say go LANDSCAPE and especially A image...

12-20-2004, 07:31 AM
B would be a great close up for an animation, but since its an still, i would go for A, its more impacting, and covers a bigger range of view, its feel more like... GSO :)

12-20-2004, 07:46 AM
Seems like a lot of people are going for A, and I'm no exception as well. But I say go with your own judgement, I'm sure you have a pretty good sense of art.

12-20-2004, 03:29 PM
Oh yeah! It's getting busy in this scene! About your composition, I think it works really good, but I'm not quite sure about the square layout... Can't say why, but I would prefer a vertical or an horizontal one. Maybe it could be easier to not disturb your compostion of the moment if you add some space to the right and increase the distance in the middle between your monster and the battleships. Anyway, it a lot of enjoyment to look at your pict, even though it is not finished!:buttrock:

12-20-2004, 03:45 PM
All i can say is EPIC!

This piece portrays the action wonderfully!

Cant wait to see the end!

Love the bug creature!

12-20-2004, 03:53 PM
Really cool man. Awesome modelling. I also like the concept. Pretty good.

12-20-2004, 04:34 PM (

many many thanks for all of your constructive comments, it help a lot , and i think i will go with this comp , but still need more comments :>

I like it

12-20-2004, 07:43 PM
Fantastic!!! Fantastic!!!:bounce: :bounce:

But, maybe, there is too much ships...

Perhaps you could eliminate some of them.

what do you think?

12-20-2004, 10:04 PM
Cool work, nice set up/Some fine modeling. But probably way over board with the ships.I understand if there new.not just all cloned ones. But you got to cut those ships in half, way too crowded,it's overkill city. Also the tentacles of the creature are way over used, they cover your whole terrain, around the body is alright, but cut a lot thats over the terrian,it just looks way too crowded and kills the scene,to me at least.Anyways, good work, nice designs.

12-20-2004, 10:11 PM
how the hell did i miss this!
gr8 work dude!so much action in scene!

12-21-2004, 12:15 AM
I agree about there beeing too many ships. I can't seem to have a central area to focus on, and it might get worse after the textures for the ships are finalized. Nice modeling none the less. What about having a more simple background...?

12-21-2004, 07:23 AM

12-21-2004, 08:07 PM
Looks great. Like the others have said, it might look good with fewer ships (or maybe just make the distant ones smaller, to increase the scale of the monster). How about something in the top left of the picture? It looks empty at the moment & slightly out of balance with the rest of the crowded composition. Maybe the monster could be throwing its tentacles up in an arc towards the oncoming ships?

12-22-2004, 01:40 PM
Incredible work.

12-22-2004, 02:42 PM
Hi P'tomy,

wow!! you should go work aboard. are you quit already? why you have so much time to make awesome work like this...

12-22-2004, 05:41 PM (

here is a small ship appear in the lower left part of image , so i keep it simple , any comments??

12-22-2004, 05:51 PM
simple texture are still in. a little job on the back part tho. otherwise, all update is really great. keep up Mon!

12-22-2004, 10:06 PM
owwww details:twisted:

12-22-2004, 11:16 PM
First time i saw this entry !! Man the scene is so great, so much action and there's no teture yet... i can't believe it...
Nothing to say about ship design and know what it is...
The scene makes me think to Starship Troopers... but in a much better look ;)

Good luck for next !

12-22-2004, 11:33 PM
Keeping it simple in coloring was a smart thing to do ..i didn' nice ...maybe just just give more contrast in different tones of grey...just an idea to try..nothing more. :)

12-23-2004, 11:38 AM
With such a full composition, I think keeping the textures simple is a great idea, and the ship looks great. I still might want to see abit more wear and tear on it, though. ;)

12-23-2004, 12:52 PM
Hi Monsit!

Wow, now thats a great ship :) Tough the textures are quit simple, but as You said, it wont be in the middle. Anyways, great job with the whole composition! Ohh and as Dimitris said, maybe add some wariations of gray to the textures.
Good luck and happy holidays!

12-24-2004, 12:05 AM
really great detail in the last model, it must have taken ages, i am envious! good inspiration!

12-24-2004, 12:34 AM
On textures I think you need much better looking ones. These are all right, very simple.A scene such as this with nice modeling needs textures to match.Otherwise 50% of what you have done is lost.I mean really textures are essential in top quality work.I think you got to give the rest of your work and this last ship more texturing loving.otherwise your work is worth half of what it could have 2 cents worth.:)

12-24-2004, 02:26 AM
Nice compo, like the alien and models. I agree, the textures need to have a bit more contrast between the different shades of gray. Waiting to see more updates.

12-24-2004, 03:13 AM
Great modeling !
good luck !

12-24-2004, 06:32 AM
great work on that ship man.. looks tight!

12-25-2004, 12:44 AM

Merry Christmas!:bounce:

12-28-2004, 05:46 AM (

hi, here is big ship texturing update , need your comments , many thanks and happy new year!

12-28-2004, 07:54 AM
Like I mentioned the modeling looks real nice, the details and scene are done real well. The textures do no justice to the modeling, they are way too simple, toned down, very flat. Not bad of course,I do see some dirt and tone to a degree, but just way off comparing to the modeling.I still think that getting the textures more alive and colorful, more depth will be essential to your entry, this way it seems you are only giving half the impact you could's better to see the scene less crowded now, before it was way to crowded.

Still a fine piece of modeling, just would like to see more contrast and depth to the textures.IMHO. :)

12-28-2004, 09:03 AM
I was sitting back looking at your image at genaral and not specific just needs some contrast between the ships and sky ...make maybe sky a litlle more fearsome and maybe brake the even color on ship with gunner close to the right..hope i helped friend...:bounce:

12-28-2004, 09:11 AM
Those have got to be the fanciest models I have seen!!

Your attention to detail is absolutely stunning! I will definitely look forward to seeing your name in the winners circle!!

12-28-2004, 09:27 AM
• Monsit, Your work is really amazing! your last post is remarkable

12-28-2004, 09:59 AM
Looks like your really getting things together. Only one thing to say. The ships look very clean to me. May want to add a dirt map using the same colors as the ground.

12-28-2004, 11:10 AM

12-28-2004, 01:26 PM
Wow, the red accents add so much! I still think it could be a little dirtier, but thats just me.

Hope to see the Final stages!

12-28-2004, 02:51 PM
excellent work

very nice texturing and design

need just some saturation on the explosion and more details on the smmoking trails (but i know it's not finished)

but surely one of the three premiere place for me

12-28-2004, 03:34 PM
Good scene! Good Job!

12-29-2004, 03:21 PM
There is no doubt that you know to art of modeling, beautifull work, i think the texture it is fine, in my opinion need more dirt, and make it more dark in the back part, i make a test in photoshop and looks fine for my, I would like to put the image here, but I donīt know to do this.
good look!!

12-29-2004, 04:51 PM
Lord...

12-29-2004, 05:26 PM
The models and scene is really awesome! But I'm two minds on the texture... in one way the low saturated style is very cool but on the other hand it makes the different parts almost melt together. Perhaps a bit more difference between the brownish and the bluish areas could make it even stronger. Either way - you're the master of this piece, marvelous work:thumbsup:

12-29-2004, 08:25 PM (

rework in texturing mother ship , now it have more dirt , tell me what u think! thanxx

12-29-2004, 08:44 PM
Hey Monsit,

You have an awesome image going on here, I do think that the textured ships on the top of your image would look better if the back engine area were a darker/heavier color.Just my opinion though. Great job on the image so far .

12-29-2004, 09:33 PM
hej monsit, nice progress. i kinda agree with mmoir, that lightgreyishblue ship blends with sky, maybe some darker tones can pop it from background, or, maybe change of sky could do the trick, anyway very nice pic, i like it a lot

12-30-2004, 12:20 AM
nice update Mon. can't think jet lag by that image. good luck!

12-30-2004, 01:09 AM
This is a great looking image...I may say that a bit of "darker" looking metals in some of the smaller pieces of the ship may help bring out the fine details you've created.....I do realy like your work though...

12-30-2004, 01:23 AM
This is a great looking image...I may say that a bit of "darker" looking metals in some of the smaller pieces of the ship may help bring out the fine details you've created.....I do realy like your work though...
• I agree with Essencedesign, Maybe just play with light and shadows to get the propper contrast and volume in the elements and it will look even better

12-30-2004, 02:17 AM
That is looking really good now. As for the blending/contrast issue that shouldn't be a problem with the textures. Fix it either through lighting or with photophop or another program after.

12-30-2004, 08:38 AM
very impressive work  perhaps you could made the foreground pieces more darkers to contrast with backround, and put turbulences on clouds (yellows-orange-clouds), to give more dramatism to the scne... not sure... its your choice

12-30-2004, 01:23 PM
awesome work. so many details in a so short time ...excellent

12-30-2004, 07:05 PM
so many datailsss i get dizzy when i look at it! supreme, really

someone said about contrast, yeah, i was thinkin that too, more contrast with the background and the monster and add some dark clouds, but only an opinion, the work is going excellent!

greetings and a happy new year!

12-30-2004, 10:35 PM
I agree on adjusting the contrast between the monster and the ground..

other than that, the work is amazing.. the textures on the mother ship are very well done! details in all the right place..

have a great New Year's celebration..

i seperate ship in multi pass for tweak detail . and many thanks for your useful suggestions ,it help me a lot

12-31-2004, 05:04 AM
Is this how you achieved your GI look? Please do explain more, I'm really interested in how you did this!

And thanks again for your support and feedback for my entry!

12-31-2004, 05:45 AM
nice work....yes explain more about the technic....happy new year:bounce:

12-31-2004, 11:32 AM
Hi , keet and visual select,
my method is simple and i don't sure is it technically correct or not,
i seperate pass of my image
1.texture pass ( the first one in image) it has shading information and turn on ambient light
2. specular pass : assign black blin to model ant turn on specular highlight and color to maximum
3.ambient occulsion pass : i use dirtmap shader for mental ray ( speed is ok)
4. shadow pass : assign usebackground shader and render it out with maya software,
and then combine all of it in different mode , i don't know the technically correct method for mode and pass , so i use my eye , and it still have some point to tune , and yes , maybe the contrast problem in my image come from the error in this method ,
so , if any one can point me to some correct tutorial , i will appreciate i!!!
that's it ,

Happy new year all!!

12-31-2004, 12:01 PM
i have to say that ship is one of the best detailed images that I've seen so far in this contest!

12-31-2004, 02:17 PM
I don't know any tutorial pages for passes, a friend of mine was looking, but he couldn't find specific ones just overview, which means probably by "eye" is the way to go...
although i think you can render passes straight out of maya, like in max you render in "elements", it renders the image once and saves files both for the original and the passes(elements: highlights, shadow, ambient etc)

if it looks right, it is right

technical accuracy doesn't make an image grea, it just makes it good the rest is up to the artist

have a happy new year

12-31-2004, 04:04 PM (

here is updateWIP of pilot part ! comment are welcome

12-31-2004, 04:32 PM
Since it's on foreground (..and it's a piece i like veery much in your entry ...) ..give it more hard contrast 'cuase in the blue cyan sky u have and the ship above it will be a bit ...consumed by the huge make it's colors harder ..i think!

Happy new year friend....:bounce:

12-31-2004, 06:58 PM
hi Monsit,

Wow...the updates are looking perfect! Haven't seen your thread...anyway it's nice to drop by and be inspired. Keep up!. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Nice start on the pilot. Have a happy new year
