01-01-2005, 06:53 PM
Your design is really great! And so are the textures. i hope U will give more contrast & depth to your final image-it seems ab it flat right now-but ill guess u can do miracles afterwards while u have renderered all passes separately :) Anyway- excellent work! :bounce:
And HappyNew Year :buttrock:

01-01-2005, 07:15 PM
Great design and texturing

How did you plan to make the fire from the reactors? I hope they will not distract too much the spectators eye :curious: but I`m sure you`ll find a nice balance for this effect

Keep up the grand art

01-05-2005, 09:59 AM

01-05-2005, 10:14 AM
Hi Monsit!

For me the texturing have not enough contrast, maybe with more different tones and/or colors that will work better and will pull off some pieces, make darker and lighter areas etc... just try...

Great work from far

01-05-2005, 05:37 PM
Hi Monsit!
Great textures man, this is really taking a good shape
Well i cant tell much out of this image, maybe You should upload a bigger one...

01-05-2005, 05:45 PM
Nice detail and texturing, i like the "matrix robotic look" of the mashine.

Very nice sketch too. Good luck

01-05-2005, 05:53 PM
Nice modeling, but the textures look grainey,a bit at least. Also bland. They need more depth, more pop, more intensity,IMHO.But still the modeling is real nice.

01-05-2005, 07:29 PM
wow...your final image is going to be and is one of the greatest here!! no doubt all your elements really rock...great work man!

01-05-2005, 07:56 PM
Very cool work...awesome details you put on every pieces !
Good initiative to work with multi passes your image will look great... Keep going man your entry is marvelous

01-05-2005, 09:15 PM
I love the detail!!

I can't wait to see it all finished and cool looking

01-05-2005, 10:43 PM
nice concept and dynamic position. i hope you will find good textures. keep going.

01-05-2005, 11:51 PM
many thanks guys! all of your comments mean a lots to me!
Virtuoso: thanks ,man! your work is great too , and your new avartar too:eek:
Nomad, janhath: it's seem i add ambient light with 1.0intensity to it , ohh, i have contrast problem from the start , need to learn more!
KOryH,cipher,rattlesnake,Darkone2652 : thanks ! hope all of you good luck too,
Kaksht ; thanks , high resolution soon!

01-06-2005, 12:29 AM
Hi humble opinion...try a render where except your key lights...tone down your peripheral lights and add an opposite to the camera light with a tone different from white color opposite to the camera and behind all your models...also increase shadow depth to your key lights...does this help your contrast issue at all? :)

just a thought....keep it up...i like your modeling man very much and your idea !:bounce:

01-08-2005, 02:08 PM (

insert pilot to the main composition and play with value to give more depth to image! comments are alway welcome!

01-08-2005, 04:17 PM
Take your image and in Photoshop...
1. Main layer normal
2. Duplicate layer and set as Multiply
3. Duplicate another Layer and set as Overlay
4. Flatten image
Play around and experiment but this will work a treat....can't wait to see your final

(My Space Opera Challenge)

01-08-2005, 05:32 PM
excellent job! a small suggestion, for the god : maybe if several "arms" placed as "tuching the sky" will increase his look as powerfull entity. keep very good!

01-08-2005, 07:01 PM
I've enjoyed wtaching you develop these killer models into a great pic....keep it up you are on the right track for sure....

01-08-2005, 07:48 PM
I'm not sure how close to the end you are, so some of these suggestions may be what you already have planned. First, let me just say the level of details on this image are insane and quite admirable. The red on the center big ship was a nice touch but I think overall the image needs a lot more color to balance out all the washed out grays and whites. You could mess around with the lighting and shading a bit but to make this image truly dynamic you may want to consider more color  Also, if you weren't going to add any thruster fire to the back of the ships I'd suggest doing so to give everything a greater sense of movement. And, to be really nitpicky ;) the ground is too blurry in relation to all of the ships and the monster so it throws off the sense of focus for me. Right now my focus is on the soldier with the gun as he is the most visually prominent area for me.

Still, nice work though!

01-10-2005, 01:28 AM
holy ****, one of my favs. impressive modelling. want to see it totally textured

01-10-2005, 04:12 AM (

final texture part of pilot comments are welcome!

01-10-2005, 08:27 AM
It's got more contrast now.Which is good. But,it's way too grainey. It's not bad, really, but just too graney,at least to me,I dont know I could be off.i still think it's also all too crowded. But still some of the better modeling in this chalenge that I have seen. And I am sure a short list top 15.A real nice entry.Just in IMHO too grainey.

01-10-2005, 08:52 AM
Niece piece of design !

impatient to see therest of the modeling !
Nice details !

good luck !

• It is....GREAT!

01-10-2005, 09:36 AM
Nothing to Crit!
Brilliant modelling& texturing :bounce:
Hope i will reach some day as high level as U are !

01-11-2005, 02:42 PM
hi, it`s awesome ... very good texturing job

waht do you plat to do with lighting ? the whole image looks a bit flat (everything is greyish) - maybe few more expressive colors would help

and how did you textured those ships / pilot ? did you used some plugin or external program, or is it 3d max`s unwrap with lots of manual work ?

01-11-2005, 03:29 PM (

Here is final image , just bring the all element composite together, i try to solve contrast stuff and i think it should work ? so many need your comments , thanks in advance , maybe the title is final image , but i think i have to tweak it , so your comments are important !

01-11-2005, 03:32 PM
you added a small motion blur to the ships in the bottom left corner...but you missed one...the bottom most ship in the left corner needs some MB aswell....geat image though,,
whats your final render size.

01-11-2005, 03:41 PM
those smoke trails up and right behind the ship are a bit confusing, somethimes it look like they are comming from ship engines more the intependent rocket.

The Trappist Funk
01-11-2005, 04:11 PM
I really like this image - reminds me of the old game R-Type.

Still, I think the guy in the bottom right blends in to much still - it looks like you've added a glow behind him to lighten up the ship in relation to him, but the contrast still isn't enough to make him really stand out!

01-11-2005, 07:34 PM
man... that's amazing! But I advice to move the camera back a bit, so that there is more space between the ships. Now you can get lost between all those amazing details.

01-11-2005, 08:20 PM
Its turned out well. The modeling has alway been very well done. The textures are still a bit bland and there is not enough contrast. It's all too confusing.could you seperate the models a bit,the smoke looks good, but too confusing as well.
The guy still does bl;end in too much. But still a real good piece here.Just neds more contrast balance and less confusion.

01-11-2005, 09:02 PM
Hi! Pic is amazing ! ( that u already know ;) )
But the monster needs more attention i think.... Maybe stronger explosion ligts reflecting from the bigfella... Maybe it becomes more dangerous looking then?

01-11-2005, 10:07 PM
I agree with taavi, perhaps made the left explosion a little bigger, and a little more contrast.. dont know... but dont take care about all our suggestions.. or you´r becoming crazy ;)... great image.. wish you the best. :)

01-12-2005, 05:59 AM
Hi Monsit!
Man, now this is one amazing image You have done, awesome stuff  The explosions are great! Maybe You should add some blur to the end of the pilots gun to show that he is going to aim at the monster :)

01-12-2005, 06:34 AM
This is too good work! Once again you'll win all the awards!

Comments are needed (

01-12-2005, 07:11 AM
this is an amazing piece of art!! stunning work man!

01-12-2005, 08:02 PM (

final image tweak , from all of your comments , its help a lot , I fix
some motion blur point , and add some heat wave around the jet, hope u can see it :> I have to thank you all of you to push me to this point , still waiting for comments in last minute tweak :>

01-12-2005, 08:06 PM
WALA! :) ... yeah it is over
:) great stuff mate very detail!

01-12-2005, 08:41 PM
yes man, as usual a magnificent work!! i like the heat distortions! and the contrast now is very good! no crit. amazing image!!! I wish you luck!!

01-12-2005, 09:17 PM
complecated Scene...weldone:thumbsup:

01-12-2005, 09:34 PM
good god ,this is sick.the detailing is immaculate.
all the best, this is definitely going all the way:)

01-12-2005, 10:06 PM
Man, how did I miss this thread?
Very, very cool idea and designs.

My onlysuggestion (and this is just a little nitpick, but I noticed it anyways) is the third "cruiser" ship (the closest next to the monster) could be blurred a bit more to better simulate depth of field.

01-12-2005, 10:12 PM
Looks killer...BTW how did you accomplish the head distortions...??

01-12-2005, 10:15 PM
that looks incredible! congratulations.

01-12-2005, 10:45 PM
This image is looking fantastic, great job:thumbsup:

01-12-2005, 11:38 PM
love it, but maybe one idea: at the upper left corner, there seemes to be a little bit of empty space. maybe you put some clouds in it or so... just an idea. but really a great pic

01-13-2005, 01:38 AM
many many thanks for alll of your comments and encouragement!!! ,
essencedesign: do u mean jet heat distortion? : u can use
1. displacement in afterfx and paint black and white map to distort or,
2. photoshop liquify ,
good luck ,all!! maybe i have to sit back and watch for the last miniute tweak ! so any suggestion still welcome!:):bounce:

01-13-2005, 01:43 AM
maybe you could overexpose the lighting (some glow and scattering) around the edges of the mechanized character since it seems to be in the foreground in front of the ships.I think it will enhance the composition, not sure but it looks just amazing regardless.

01-13-2005, 02:06 AM
Also i think the cables in front(right side) can have a little(just very little) bit more texture detail.the rest of the character is very well textured.just an opinion, once again its sick work man:wip:

01-13-2005, 07:05 AM
This is great :applause:

crit: I agree about the left corner, seems empty... clouds or stars shoud be nice.

Fantastic finish

01-13-2005, 07:40 AM
WoW, verye good pic very expressive, i like this, very good work

01-13-2005, 11:50 AM

01-14-2005, 08:48 AM
This really is a stunning image.

However I do think that there is a slight lack of depth to it! I think the various componants need a little more contrast and I would probably add a bit more depth of field (DOF) blurring to the ships in the background. There is so much going on in the image and I think really that you need to decide what is the main focus of the image and somehow make that more prominent by controlling the DOF and the contrast of the elements.

You should do well with this image.

01-14-2005, 11:31 AM

Wow what a high level of intensity.A touch of contrast issue true.A bit overcrowded, true. But just nitpicks.A great modeling job and very well done execution wise. This with Texx and Virtuoso is one of my three favorites.Flip a coin to this and the other two for which wins.Crazy details and great modeling,Top 3 for me.:buttrock:
