What the title suggest I guess it's pretty clear what I want to find out. Besides drawing it frame by frame in a 2D application how else can I create a rolling paper effect.

To be specific. A pirate show a treasure map being rolled out on a table.

that's depend of how much the paper is rolling. I don't know that package you are using, but you can use deformers like 'bend' in maya who is keyable. Or if you really want to have a great control on it, you have to skin it with some bones and an ik spline for exemple.

Good luck.

You could just throw a bunch of small joints across it. Just remember to give the grid or whatever you're using for paper a good amount of detail so it rolls over smooth.
