View Full Version : model setups for animation, silly question

I have heard many times that low poly games characters all have triangle polys to save polycount...but then I also hear by many that triangles cause bad animation. I know that a quad is 2 triangles anyway, but then why do people say triangles cause bad animation if a entire model is made of triangles anyway.:hmm:

I've never heard that triangles cause bad animation. The only thing from my understanding that will cause bad animation as far as the rig goes is bad topology and weighting.

Its more a weighting issue. When you have a quad it will be turned into triangles, but it has a choice, connect points a and c, or b and d. That way it will get better deformation in animation.
