This is the character i am currently working on.A Kappa is a demon/spirit from japanese mythology, said to be living in small lakes and ponds. It is described as having the face of a monkey, webs on hands and feet and the shell of a tortoise on its back.
Here is my concept
and the finished head:
Software used: LIGHTWAVE
C&C very welcome!

Great work on the concept and it looks as though the head's coming along well. I'm not convinced by the shape of the back of the head though. Something about it looks a little unnatural to me. The eyelids still look like they need a little work.
Am interested to see how this turns out when it's textured.

wow. that's pretty interesting. from the sketch, the top of the head looks like an exposed brain, but from your model it looks kinda weird. and i agree about the back of the head too. might be coming out a little bit too much, looks weird. but overall, that's one awesome model! you're doing a great job.

I think this a good original idea to explore. Regarding the head, I believe the head is traditionaly concave on top like a bowl. Water pools in the head and if it is spilled the creature will die. Thats how i heard the story anyway. Model is looking nice. I would connect the middle of the nose to the face, not leave it open.
