View Full Version : IK popping problem
10 October 2004, 07:53 PM
i have got some serious ik-popping problems with the legs of my humanlike- character, perhaps the screenshots can describe what i mean:
i can move the control-null until here before the "popping" begins:
here begins the disaster:
and here a shot to illustrate better how it should be:
the rig was done by completly following video tutorials of chris olsen. i compared my rig with his and i really, really couldn't find any differences after checking every single parameter again and again. but his one works, mine does not :(
do you have any advises for me?
-the bones perfectly line up with the nulls, i adjusted everything at the maximum zoom.
-only the under-leg has limits on its headings, but it doesn't make a difference if turn it on or off.
-goals strenghs are left at 1.0, changing that parameter doesn't do any effects.
thank you for any replys :)

Go to frame -1
turn off IK (global)
bend the knee
This should help

man, that works!! thanks, castius! i already was quite desperated.
but i really don't get why this works...? is it a must to do it that way before ik-movement in lightwave?
again, thank you, you made my day :)

It's called Ik prebend angle in other apps its a setting. In LW the IK and FK work on the same channel so it works by reading the first key. Using -1 allows you to have a bind pose one 0 but a prebend angle on -1. It basicly give IK a small brain telling it i want to bend this way more than the other.
