I was wondering, say i had a object and then i hit tab and nurbed it. Is there a way to extract the splines that are created and exclude the polys.

When you hit the Tab key it turns on/off Subdivision surfaces. LW doesnt support NURBS.
You could pick points off the object and create splines that way. :)
