" are late"
Posted Oct 3 am EST

(Sorry for posting this so late, parents are in town and I am in a small island 600 miles from DC)

Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 / 480 x 640 OR 800 x 600 /600 x 800
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

its a bit graphic but it was the only thing i could think of with deep meaning, something where being late would be a of real significance. sorry if this offends anyone

Hey guys!

Oi Robin! I was gonna do that idea! Damn... good execution anyway...

Taron, once again, tremendous!

Here's mine anyway... Something I get all the time from my chums awaiting me in the pub...

Hmm, not many entries today. Maybe people will be posting late. :D

Jasel-- Nicely done and nice perspective. Odd that Death is the same color as the bedspread, though.
The Ton-- Cool crosshatching, and I love the way you did the bottles on the shelf.
Lord_G-- Looks like me running for the train.
drawMonger-- That is some crazy body language! BTW, the answer to that math problem is 42. ;)
Taron-- Gorgeous background! Had a similar idea, but with a vampire at sunrise. Nice!
DigitalSkunkwrx-- White Rabbit's legs are in an unusual position, and he is very rude. Alice looks. . . fetching in that dress.
kowalski-- ooh, the ultimate guilt trip. Good idea to block out the scene that way.
robinayles-- Don't put that there, you'll get pee on the nice granite counter top! Nicely done, but the tester could use a bit of shading to make it look less flat.
Xanothis-- Nice drawing. Wonder if you intended to post with the outlines left in?

Cheers Ilikesoup!
I thought I'd go back to the way I used draw everything when I was at college in the old sketchbook...

It's a bit different doing it on a Wacom the size of a ladybird's bedspread but hey, were all here to learn eh?

Where is everybody?
Perhaps they're all waiting to get the "you are late" very last-minute-post joke...

Perhaps they're all waiting to get the "you are late" very last-minute-post joke...Either that or they're all off spending "a day in the amusement park". ;)

Hey, thanks for your crit. You're absolutely right; I've updated my image, fortunately I had that Grim Reaper in a separate layer in Photoshop, hehe...

Late and ugly, here's my entry :) (got an excuse for being late, it was 8pm in France when subject was posted and I had too much work to paint before falling asleep... For the uglyness, well, got no excuse but being a noob :) )

Too bad we got so few posts on that one, but the quality makes for the (lack of) quantity !!! You're all so talented !

And Taron, how the hell do you manage to get these kind of results from OC1.1, it's simply amazing (the more I try to paint with that nifty piece of software, the more i realize that not only you've got magical hands when it comes to painting, but you're also really good at getting the max out of that software).

(subliminal message : please post some WPEs !!! I'd love to see the one for today's for example !)

Enough talking, here's my
WPE (zipped) ( and the image itself :

It's not a beauty, but if you look at my entries for yesterday and the day before, you'll have to admit that I've done some progress :)

took me about 1h by the way.

A little antibacterial cleaner will take care of the granite countertop - and yes, i know it needed shading, but was in a big hurry. Thanks, tho.

45mins Painter/Wacom

Was inspired by a print by Shiro Kasamatsu so it's not that original & it needs some work on the colour but hey I enjoyed this one.

Did a little doodle to take my mind off all the work during midterm season... I'm just starting to get used to drawing with a tablet. Though I can't seem to write with it.
Painter, ~10minutes.

I need an extension on this project. . .

I found these old sketches from when I worked in the city (Boston) and drove to the train station every day. In the top pic, I'd always be running up the escalator to the platform just as the train was pulling away. I got on the pay phone to call work and tell them I'd be a little late. By the time I reached my supervisor, the next train had pulled in. I shouted some gibberish into the phone, slammed down the receiver and leapt onto the train before the doors closed. Mission accomplished.
Originally Prismacolor markers on paper, cleaned them up in photoshop for abt 15 minutes.
