I'm coming from 3dsmax and i'm a little bit confused with the way modo rotates the camera around the object.. Is there a way to make it behave like the one in max?

Try this, in the viewport tab disable Trackball Rotation, I'm not sure if this can be disabled permanently though.

Turn off the trackball rotation.. Textures from the viewport and then tracball rotation..
