View Full Version : Post ur Working Nvidia/ATI Drivers & Card

09 September 2004, 12:51 AM
Seems like... folks who are coming onboard with Modo recently, are not reading, or somehow didnt pay attention to the Lux page that stated that there are problems with the Nvidia drivers for Gforce cards.
SO, I think its better to find a solution while some of those folks wait for a updated driver.

Lets all help by posting what working card driver we are using .

ehmmm Ill go first....

Quadro DCC, driver version 30.82

Antialiasing Disabled
Anistotrpic Disabled
Vertical sysnc off

Ok ur turn ;)

I have had limited time with Modo, 10-12 hours total, but yesterday I had a 4 hour session while traveling and no Modo failure.

Toshiba M200 tablet PC, centrino 1.6 MHz, 768MB, Geforce FX 5200, Driver version 45.91(factory default).

2 crashes with the Toshiba during 10-12 hours of use. Vertex arrays on. NVidia OpenGL settings at default(No customized OpenGL settings). Screen at 1400x1050. Windows XP Pro + Service Pack 2.

I should note that the 4 hour session was on the train while working on other things, switching backwards and forwards. I think I got 1 hour of full Modo use and no crash.

In 10-12 hours, 2 crashes total.

I have the m200 also with the latest nvidia drivers and had no problem. Modo turned vert' arrays off and have used modo with no issues. Win XP serv pack 1. latest directx, it runs fine, no crashes.

ok alittle update. I was running WinXP SP1, with the same drivers(56.77), now that i install SP2..its actually improve the OGL performance of Modo noticeably!! :D

Nvidia 6800 GT, winXP SP1. Display adapter disabled No crahes. Lots of crashes with any of the nvidia drivers that I've tried.

I successfully use an eVGA 6800GT 256MB with XP SP2. No problems yet :D

Right thanks for sharing.... that tid bit but you forgot the most import part.

I use an eVGA 6800GT 256MB with the 61.77 drivers off eVGA's site and I haven't had a crash yet, knock on wood. I haven't tried every operation yet but it seems stable for me at the moment.

as far a s i know Ati cars (cars? i did not know that ati makes cars too, i guess i meant cards ) do not crash and i am one of them. the thing i see that because of modo seems like alot of people became driver experts anymore :)
i thought that ati had the worst drivers versus nvidia, until i change to ati. it is stable here.

Same here. No display problems or speed problems. But Modo has crashed a number of times.

I am running an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with the latest driver on XP Pro SP1. Absolutely no problems.

sapphire radeon 9800pro and latest catalyst - works great

Quadro FX 3000 with 53.03 drivers. Its off and on. It crashes when it feels like it, but its not often.

I've got an Nvidia FX 5600 with 128MB.
The 42.51 driver that I got from 3DGuru works but stretches my display and says it has 1400x1050 px.
I've tried the 66.70 driver also from 3Dguru and managed to work for 3 hours and only one crash.
For the time being I'll keep this one.

nVidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 56.72
Works nearly perfect. One crash, but it was my failure.

Guru3D has a new driver up, Forceware 66.72..

I believe this is the driver with the fix in, so far no crashes for me for an hour even with vertex arrays on; only driver I've had to actually work. And its dated around the time Brad said they'd received the fixed driver from nvidia.

I'm running a 6800gt 256mb.

Note: this Drivers are not official release from Nvidia, and are not endoresed by any manufacture or person as they are leaked BETA DRIVERS.
Having said that you are on your own when it comes to Tech support issues arising from installation of those drivers.

use them at your own risk.!!!
YOU Have been Warned

IMHO though it might be of interest to try them since its better than nothing if ur on the 6800 cards, but thats just my Opinion ;)

Well yeah, they are beta drivers, but they also have been through their WHQL process, so they shouldn't cause anything untoward with someone's system.

edit: Oh and still no crashes thus far, so I'm a much happier camper now.
