View Full Version : Cloth Wipe

09 September 2004, 02:39 AM
Hi there.

I need to make a cloth wipe the screen as if with an invisible hand.
It sounds simple enough, but I've tried Reactor, simcloth3 FFD's but nothing looks 'natural'. My wife is pretty happy though, all the kitchen cupboards are spotless from all the wiping for reference.

Has anybody done this before? Any suggestions? I'm running out of time here.

I guess it depends on what the "wiped" stuff is... dust? grease? dirt?

Anyway, my first reaction to this problem is to think 2D-- either using an animated texture map, or even simpler using AfterEffects or a similar application. For example, in AfterEffects 6, you could draw some nice brush strokes and have it automatically "draw" them over time.

In 3d, I guess I'd try some Pflow effects--but that seems very time-consuming for something that could be accomplished much easier in 2d...
