one of the best ones i've seen so far, IMO
very nice concept. I especially like the earring-decoration thingy :)

02 February 2002, 05:15 PM
I love this sketch, and as parallax mentioned, yea, the earingDecoration is just perfect! start the modelling process, now! :D

02 February 2002, 05:18 PM

02 February 2002, 05:13 PM

02 February 2002, 05:32 PM

02 February 2002, 09:56 PM
COol!! but i wonder what quind of program u use???

02 February 2002, 11:33 PM
this is only a suggestion, but I think it would be cool if the ornaments on his mask were like old fishing lures or something, giving that trampy scavenger feel.. excellent design:)

02 February 2002, 02:50 AM
Thanx for the replies again,
Im at work at the moment, hopefully a couple of updates later today....

Error323 = The program im using is Wings 3D, it is a freeware program... you can get it at
I decided to use it for this challenge to test the program :)

02 February 2002, 05:02 AM
good start i think, what's the program you will use for render?

02 February 2002, 07:13 AM
I dont know about the rendering yet, still thinking :)

02 February 2002, 10:29 AM

02 February 2002, 02:05 PM

Well this is my current work in progress.....

What you think....
More updates and info later.....

02 February 2002, 01:29 AM
Hmmm... It seems no one likes the new design...
doesn't anyone have any comments?

02 February 2002, 12:25 PM
Test rendering :) The quality of the pics is low, to allow low file size... :)

Higer Res Renders

Still a lot more to do, next the head, then adding details...
Comments Welcome :)

02 February 2002, 07:30 PM
Heres a quick update, just trying out the head and mask for the character.....

02 February 2002, 11:30 PM
Heres a simple Global illumination scene done by a friend :)

02 February 2002, 03:28 AM
Hmmm... It seems no one likes the new design...

I think you are right there. I was really diggin' the dark character you had before. He had a very malevolent look about him. Your new model looks like a P.A. version of Vivi from Final Fantasy 9.

02 February 2002, 05:29 AM
Well there is a slight resemblance, only slight and i wasn't planning on it...

Well the reason I changed my entry is because Im still a begginner in 3D and to model the other guy would take longer than what the deadline date is.... so I came up with another sketch (Ill post it later) and used it loosely to start the new model....

Okay ppl I have made some changes to the model, tell me what you think of it now :)

02 February 2002, 07:04 AM
good to see some wings 3d

02 February 2002, 11:00 AM
Heres what I still have to do, ( and maybe more :) )
Any ideas on the colours ??

02 February 2002, 02:05 AM
Hi Hmura,

your character seems very funny and orginal....
I like it ... :)

02 February 2002, 09:26 AM
Thanx for the reply Piz. :D

Ok ppl, I have found a little time in which to finish my model, its almost done, Just rendering as we speak, Im 0ff to work now, when I get back I post it up... I don't think I will have time to texture te model, as I still need to finish off the weapon.
Should I go on with the one I drew, or maybe something else, any Ideas what would suit him.... ?

02 February 2002, 04:52 AM
Yeah, i'm with piz, it's very funny, i want to see in an animation :] (i'm an animator...u know...i love to see the characters in motion) :]

02 February 2002, 06:44 AM
Thanx CereberusC for the comments :)

Here is the render of the 'finished' character, I might still add some small details, but the next thing on the list is the weapon....
As I said before I will not have time to texture it :(

02 February 2002, 06:52 AM

03 March 2002, 04:13 PM

Snif!:( .No textures?

03 March 2002, 04:35 PM
Thanx Cgkoko for your reply,
yeah wings is free go to
unfotunately no textures :(

03 March 2002, 05:39 PM
sorry I have missed to comment this GREAT model during the challenge but I haven't seen it among all the others. and, I will surely not miss you in the next challenge you'll enter, not now that I have seen what you can do!

you don't have to texture this guy, it looks great as it is imho. sometimes a simple GI render can look much better than an "fast textured" model.

it shouldn't be a bad thing to add some details to the feet (and some more places) and maybe take away some sharp edges though.

overall great modeling and coooool design!

03 March 2002, 08:35 PM
fellah, thanx for the comments, i will hopefully finish the weapon in time, i keep changing it :), maybe i will add some more details...

here is a Landscape test i did :

03 March 2002, 08:36 PM
Another one :

03 March 2002, 08:43 PM
Hey HMURA!!! Your character is really good!
I like the design a lot!
But why don't you work on it,to finish it in time!
It will be fun to see him textured and more detailed...

Your landscape is really good anyway!
What a texture! Great! :D

Finish your character...It's an order!!! ;) :D :D :D

03 March 2002, 02:15 AM
Totitch, thanks for the comments but, alas, the time is slipping away :)

I like.

03 March 2002, 04:24 AM
very good design and style Hmura!
I haven't seen your model before and it was a pity, it's very nice!

add more colors please! ;)

03 March 2002, 03:11 AM
Pabbloz, thanx for the reply m8

Heres the new test render :)

The scene is in a environment where the sun is 50 times stronger than what it is now, therefore the suns strenght really is much higher..

I really think the dry cracked ground looks better in this render.

I have also added some fog... its really toxic due to the nuclear falloff, so as it provides some protection from the sun it is at the same time deadly :)

I have included a tree which is glowing, due to toxication of the soil and the atmosphere... Its only a simple render as the high quality one would have taken too long :)

Notice the weapon, yes its a staff :) LANDSCAPE211.jpg

Okay I had some pretty good comments from ppl over at the ( ) Wings forum.

Im trying to make the shadow softer or better yet, make it gradually soften, is there a way to do this in lightwave, and I would also like to make the ground "shimmer" the way it does when its really hot... any ideas ?

p.s. Does the tree affect the viewers attnetion of the scene?

Here they are For easy viewing :
