As you may have noticed, I have been having trouble with uploading my pics.

Can any of you tell me how I can get my pics hosted without having to email them to MVP (or indeed any of you busy busy folks) all the time...?

I don't have a site of my own so I don't really want to start paying for space, I just need.. I don't know.... something!!!

Thanks for any help!

:wavey:well, I thought that this topic would be a good way to introduce you to my new avatar... I made the avatar yesterday, now it has a mouth, and eyes, and this kind of things, so now I can participate more easily in the avatar-related topics  ;) (I hope there are more to come...)

pencil 15min, photoshop 1:30h

edit: I added letters (thanks to Ilikesoup, I didn't find myself comfortable making word games as I am not an english-speaker), I redid the background and cleaned up some of the scan dirt, now it looks more like a movie poster. the previous version is here (http://gaitasfritas.250free.com/bondend.JPG)

09-27-2004, 06:35 PM

09-27-2004, 07:55 PM
robinayles, thanks!
ilikesoup, lol, I was going to call it "the foot that loved me", or "the man with the golden toe", but that was a lot of letters to write down :D ... maybe I will edit the pic later and add all those tiny letters that movie posters have at the bottom, I will use your "sugestions" for sure!
andy... mmm... why did I chose a foot? I dont know, the idea was stupid enough... :p btw, you've got a very well done picture

PS+Wacom 1.5 hrs
I remember an old Bloom County strip where the punch line was Opus saying, "Hollywood is in a rut". They had made a film based on Thinner Thighs in 30 Days. Here's my tribute to Berke Breathed.

Andrewley, that is too funny for words!

09-28-2004, 01:55 AM
I want to see some of these movies...

Saw the photomanipulations of sagi_13 and couldn't resist sharing mine.
I'm not entering the daily sketch contest with it, so I'll just post a link to the jpg file.

It's a picture of my head on the body of 'Commodus' (from the movie Gladiator)
My best friend made it for me (Derby-Q Salano), I sent him the picture of me with the green leaves behind my ears and he made this picture for fun. So if anyone is to receive credit, it's him.

Hope you'll like it:

PS: some really great sketches here! I especially like andrewley's!

09-28-2004, 09:02 AM
This was an awesome topic, learnt alot.

Flash, 30 mins

el mas feo - hahah, cool idea.

09-28-2004, 09:17 AM
here's mine. Don't worry I'm a big fan of pulp fiction :)

bout 2 h, ps.

elmasfeo: haha I like your avatar man. Where did you get the idea to use a foot :scream: Nice poster too
roozelle: cool concept, it's a little empty tho.
augustus: cool man, really like it. A little more contrast wouldn't hurt tho.
andrewley Way cool! Really cool concept and execution.

09-28-2004, 12:57 PM
Thanks for the comments, I've just updated my picture in the first page, added some letters, redid background and cleaned up some scan dirt, I hope you like it.

Garma - looks really like an old poster, vey well done! did you paint over the original poster? it looks like you didn't, except for the tiny letters at the bottom...

Dirj - nice! that's cool! (btw, you are the first one who writes el mas feo separatedly  )

drawmonger - red X, it may be just me...

RobinAyles - good job, in "my other car is" you were piloting a starship, now you've got the world hunging from a rope...:argh: you are dangerous, children shouldn't be left alone! hehe...:D

Octothreat - great! I like your colors and brushes

andrewley - amazing job one more time, you make a lot with just a few strokes perfectly placed

roozelle - I like it, the idea, the composition, but... why did you use max? I think you could've done it much more easily in a 2D program...

-andy- it's very realistic, well done, I specially like the beard little hair

09-28-2004, 02:12 PM
Thank you, El Mas Feo. My mom always told me what a good baby I was, so now I'm making up for lost time and being bad! So does your username translate as "The Baddest" or "The Ugliest"? It seems that feo has more than one meaning depending on how you use it. I really like the changes you made to your poster. It looks great! And don't worry, your English is very good - far better than my Spanish!

There are so many good ones here - great job all of you!

Of course, we are all humbled by the continuing great work of Andrewley!

Garma, that Pig Fiction is pretty funny!

DrawMonger - all I see is the fatal red X

Andy - WOW! great!

09-28-2004, 03:44 PM
roozelle - I like it, the idea, the composition, but... why did you use max? I think you could've done it much more easily in a 2D program...Yes, it probably could have been done more easily in Illustrator, Flash or Freehand - but the computer that I use during the day doesn't have that software. So, I just decided to do it in max.

Thanks for your compliments - but - I can't really take credit for the composition - because the design is based off of the real movie "Funny Girl."

09-28-2004, 05:25 PM
had a lot of fun doing this bad boy...

Soz it's a bit late

Photoshop/far too long

09-28-2004, 05:49 PM
LOL -Thats awesome the ton!

09-28-2004, 06:04 PM
el mas feo--Nice! I've got some more bad puns ready if you need them:
Sue Laces
Fallon Arches
Leather Cortez (an old style of Nike sneaker)
Featuring music by Toe Jam

I like that you used the credits from "Jackass the Movie" :D

augustus--looks more like the cover of a poetry book, but I like it a lot!

andrewley-- Keeps blowing me away the more I look at it. Great color, placement and damn funny concept. Is there a plastic Jesus on the dashboard?

Octothreat--nice and creepy!

almost missed Malcolmvexxed-- a film that all of us can relate to! Like the b&w

robinayles--Robin Almighty? Just wait until the next avatar fight ! j/k

MVP--I just noticed (the menace) at the bottom. Funny, and I like your new avatar.

drawMonger-- there's already a movie called "X" (Sorry, I couldn't resist). I wanna see your picture, though

Dirj-- that's awesome! Nice composition, too

BAJAMAN--what's your movie called?

Garma--is that all from scratch? Very nice.

-Andy- Wow! How long did you spend on that? Great likeness.

conundrum-- your link just brings me to the Pic Server site, not to your picture.

Sagi-- heh, have you been in any other films I might have seen?

Xanthum Gum-- Buck up, little camper. Lots of people make bad films. Ever seen Ishtar?
Your pic has a sad look to it -- that's a good thing

roozelle--Not sure that I understand. Is she running with a pencil?

Nobody commented on mine

09-28-2004, 06:14 PM

09-28-2004, 06:16 PM
Ilikesoup: actually i don't know how much it took but i can just tell you that I spent a lot of time there!:)

09-28-2004, 07:13 PM
roozelle--Not sure that I understand. Is she running with a pencil?
I guess my movie poster is a bit obscure. Since nobody seems to know what it is - I guess that makes me even more obscure than my poster reference. http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

'Funny Girl' is a broadway musical that was turned into a movie (both in the 1960's, both staring Barbara Streisand.)

I based my poster off the marketing design of the movie. I made changes - which included the addition of a pencil (because I like to draw.) So, no - she isn't running with a pencil.

09-28-2004, 07:21 PM
The Ton - hehehe, great! :wip:

Ilikesoup - about the lack of comments on yours... your picture is well done, I started commenting everybody but got tired soon, normally I can't think a different comment for each one, it's like "great, awesome, amazing, well done, love it..." and when I have already used this ones, I run out of words, I dont like repeating...

robin - it's "the ugliest"... don't ask me why, it's like asking me why did I chose a foot...

roozelle - I've never heard about that movie before, I've just searched it in internet, you had a good idea

09-28-2004, 08:07 PM

I get it! You're the Funny Girl (you are the funny girl, aren't you?:curious: ) and you're funny 'cuz:
You draw funny pictures
You're upside down

I know the film and the musical, but wondered where Barbara Streisand got the pencil and who tripped her. Now it makes perfect sense (I hope).

El mas feo-- No worries, didn't mean to make anybody defensive. I feel like a heel (get it?).

09-28-2004, 08:36 PM
Excellent work people, not too many replies but all good.

A special shout out to The Ton and Garma - very funny.

By the way...is Goro mincing at anyone else in The Tons picture??

09-28-2004, 09:00 PM
ilikesoup - uh oh...I feel the gauntlet has been thrown!

The Ton - MOST EXCELLENT! Great idea and very well done!

There was no bad work on this thread at all - great work everyone!

09-28-2004, 10:51 PM
thanks for the nice comments guys.. indeed it's done completely from scratch, with the orgininal as a ref, of course :)

Edit: the Ton, rofl! Saw the original yesterday.

09-28-2004, 11:26 PM
Hahaha dope pic by The ton. I love how the backgrounds has that pop art style.

09-28-2004, 11:32 PM
Well this would definately be MY movie... hope it doesn't suck when it finally comes out :curious:
Imagine a live-action Transformers movie directed by Steven Spielberg...

Painter, Phshop, worked on it off and on, couple of hours.

The Ton: that is very funny :applause:

Good job everyone! Yeah, yeah you too andrewley (that poster should bring back the kids to church :) )

09-29-2004, 01:10 AM
directed by Steven Spielberg...
Oooh, rather not, thank you very much. Now directed by anyone else, so they didn't make the robots cry at the end...

Great pic BTW! lurve it!

But the winner this week (so far) definately has to be the Ton! Gotta love that! So by my position, I'm guessing I'm Brad Pitt! I can live with that!!

And I think Goro's wincing at Oritz, by my guess. Does he smell?

09-29-2004, 02:43 AM
HAHAHA....hey, The Ton, that's very cute, thank you! Kinda took my by surprise to find me up there....very funny!

09-29-2004, 02:58 AM
>> Red cross..

When my producers heard that I'd leaked an image from the movie they went ballistic and pulled the plug from my server...

fixed now.

09-29-2004, 04:40 AM
Oh, a little late....anyway, felt like making one....

09-29-2004, 05:21 AM
Hey Taron, that's wicked!! A real sense of mood and energy. You really are one of the stars of the group :buttrock:

09-29-2004, 06:03 AM
Wow! Thanx a lot, Drawmonger! I'm learning a lot from the stars here, that's for sure!
I kind of take this as a great welcome message from you!

09-29-2004, 08:16 AM
Oooh, rather not, thank you very much. Now directed by anyone else, so they didn't make the robots cry at the end... :D

That's exactly what I thought when I heard the rumor that Spielberg wanted to make the movie...

Glad you lurve it mate!

Taron: great drama, beautiful colors and mood.
(scene reminds me of the avatar fights... you crawling back after a beating...)

09-29-2004, 09:08 AM
BAJAMAN--what's your movie called? Hmmm, never gave that a thought, you know. One of my nicknames is Darth Lowen. I had an entire story behind that name, something like:

"Darth Lowen, son of Karaguin, heir to Mardogath"

Nobody commented on mine  Awww, well, it's really very nice!

09-29-2004, 10:46 AM
Cheers everyone for da praise!! Glad y'all like it!

We aim to please.... :)

Dargon, I thought I'd put you in the Pitt spot seeing as you helped with the whole hosting thang! Cheers dude!

Taron, I think your place in the stars is well deserved after that pic! Nice one!

Everyone else who commented, ta very much... I feel like I'm.....sniff......part of the...sniff....family now...sob......!!

09-29-2004, 10:57 AM

haha.. I'm sorry but not after you are baptised first. Let me crush a bottle of paint on your head now..

09-29-2004, 02:52 PM
ilikesoup - I'm sorry that nobody commented on yours..here's your official comment....

I like the tribute to Berke Breathed. Very true to the idea that Hollywood is in a rut. As for Berke Breathed and the Opus cartoon, all I can say is that Brethed USED to be funny.

09-29-2004, 04:48 PM
As for Berke Breathed and the Opus cartoon, all I can say is that Brethed USED to be funny.
Too true! He used to be wonderfully silly, and his political/cultural satires were so dead-on accurate IMO. Now he's just a big meanie with little in the way of humor. Did he go through a bitter divorce? alien abduction? I'd pay good money to find out, because Bloom County WAS one of my all time favorites.

09-29-2004, 06:40 PM
yep me too - I even have 2 Opus stuffed dolls, one where he's wearing a bath towel and shower cap and the other where he has antlers with christmas balls hanging from them.

10-01-2004, 04:17 PM

10-01-2004, 04:56 PM
