View Full Version : LW or Maya layouts?How to get?Reinstall?

All I see for the layouts is modo default and modo simplified and another for UV.
I have mine set up with only one floating menu that I access all other menus from but how do you get the LW and/or Maya configs woithout reinstalling?

Sorry for the dumb question but you wont know until you ask....
And I looked in all the files for the configs but I dont see them.
I'll be looking until someone rescues me....:scream:

well, I think we have to 'draw' a layout either LW or maya ourselves.

go to menu>layout>clear
then begin to lay out a LW like layout..and F2 key editor to assign keyboard shortcut what you have in LW or maya.

This is what i do by follow the user guide, but my question is how to delete a 'view port' we dont want? Page 82, "creating a view port preset", if i not wrong it only show me how to create but did not show me how to remove it.

because they don't own the rigth for that interface !?!?!

u can doit by yourself private, but i don't think Luxology will ever release an official interface on their website. I saw Pazur having one so u can ask him to send the .cfg to you, maybe u're lucky.

I thought this was impossible? I mean with the tabs on the top creating tab dependant menus on the side, like Lightwave. Is this an older build? Were these presets abandonned?

Well, as the co-builder of some of those interfaces, I can say that yes, this is a *much* older build. Those were interfaces we made for Siggraph in San Diego 2003, and the screengrabs were made at that time.

As for them not shipping with modo, I'm assuming that lux wanted to have just a couple of streamlined presets, and keep the 'application morphing' thing to a minimum. I'm sure that the users will make about 15,000 interfaces, just give em a little more than the week they've had so far... =)

As for the tab buttons like LW, I don't know if they still work like that, but I don't see why not.

Hi everybody,

My friend has showed me modo.
In \resrc directory there are xml files, that describe the inteface. You can edit them, to change the way modo looks (remember to save previous, original version of the file!).

For example You can edit: modoTools_toolBar.cfg

Remove lines 560 and 561 (this with iconmode and iconsize) and Your modo will have no icons in ModoTools > Mesh.

You can probably create Your own toolbars, with content You want :)
But it needs a lot of painstaking work :(

Maybe someone will write small aplication, that will generate xml files for modo.

You can easily modify layout using: Form Editor, Attribute Operations, Attribute Properties panels.

Create new layout split it into 4 parts.
Choose 'Editors' > 'Form Editor'.

Than for next panel choose: 'Aplication' > 'Form view'. right click on the title bar and select 'Attribute Operations'.

for the third bar choose 'attribute Properties' and for the last choose form you want to manipulate.

Play with 'Form editor'. You can castomize interface in realy easy way.

It`s really simple. Without any XML. Only graphics control and Form editor.

Mr. Big,

It's easy to get where you were with that interface. Try going the extra step and getting the horizontal context sensitive tabs at the top....not possible. :(

There is a sticky with a few, but nobody has taken the time to go through, and create their previous native modelers to a tee yet, but I'm sure they'll pop up eventually. :)

How do you share the layouts? Do you have to share you whole modo.cfg file? If so, then how to do pluck the best from everyone and combine it into one? What is the easier way? I'm missing something.

you can export your layouts from file-export config, and it will bring a menu
