SUPERVLIEG: Great sketch! But I feel pity for you mate!!! I wouldn´t dare to ask for a raise for long!!!

09-21-2004, 02:54 PM
The question is how to narrow it down, I've had so many bosses over the years. Some good, some bad, some nice, some "spawn of the devil"...hmmm

SUPERVLIEG: Great sketch! But I feel pity for you mate!!! I wouldn´t dare to ask for a raise for long!!!
Actually it's not about me. Its about this guy standing up to his boss and saying he's his own boss. That's my boss... ME! Geddit?

Ah, I get it now. I thought it was you saying you are your own boss.

Here's my first entry into the daily sketches. It's my second photoshop job ever...I bought a Wacom tablet yesterday. This took an hour and a half, and my hand is dying. :buttrock:

09-21-2004, 04:30 PM
OceanMachine45 - you may be doing the same thing I did when I first got my tablet, I found that I was gripping the pen really hard and pressing down way harder than necessary. I'm trying to learn to use a looser grip and lighter touch. It helps save the hand! Not bad for your first tablet sketch.

about an hour in ps w/ a wacom, quick and dirty...well, not so quick...

09-21-2004, 05:10 PM
Nah, I guess I just outlined him a little too much.

09-21-2004, 05:44 PM
here's mine. quickie today, not too much inspiration, just some basic doodling

PS & Painter | 2 H. I decided to give painter a shot here. I do not get the hang of painter yet, I like a lot of it's features, but some things are highly annoying. Can be I didn't figure them out yet.

[edit] oh and by the way... any of the open canvas users: feel free to share your wpe file, would be highly appreciated by a lot of people, I'm sure of that!

Not many entries this time? Two pages only? What? None of You have anything to say about Your's bosses? You must have really happy life then! ;) Well, I must admit I've got some problems with both concept and technique - after an hour or so I realized that I'm losing a war with anatomy and decided to give it a rest for a while. I like the picture's idea because it have two meanings so I uploaded annyway, maybe tomorrow with a fresh look I'll fix it. Any guidances?

Supervlieg: Oh yeahhh, to be own boss or not to be, that's a question! Great stuff annyway.
berice: maybe not-so-quick and dirty but with style, and that's what counts, is it?
Garma: nice one, Painter made surfaces are so great
sagi_13: hey! You were in my office were You?!
meta_Nerd: link to picture is dead :(

Again here is the event file in .rar form. HERE (

09-22-2004, 09:47 AM
Pencil and paper, scanned in PS. About 30 min. Not much CG in it, but I'd have done it on a wacom if only I had one :D

09-22-2004, 10:01 AM
At first sight my boss may seem to have a bit of a nasty streak to him, but once you get to know him he's actually quite nice. I guess you shouldn't judge people too quickly on their appearance or body scent.
He's really good with contracts and that sort of stuff as well.

wacom in Photoshop, +-1hour

09-22-2004, 12:49 PM

I'm doing to try to get better so if anyone as some tips.. i'm open
ps- not just this painting overall....

Oh by the way, in case you're interested, I have also posted another late one on the "Run for your life" thread. Take a look if you feel inclined to. Or not. I don't mind really.

09-22-2004, 03:46 PM
zeroeefx- Hi there.. lol that reminds me of office space... the movie.
well u said u wanted suggestions so the first thing I could suggest.. based on ur character there seems to be a source of light coming from somewhere,.. therefore you should add his shadow to the floor or wall... depending on the light... that is all i can think of... oh also if u want to make the shoes shinny. that light u added to it helps, but it might work better if you made the the shoes blacker for more contrast.

09-22-2004, 04:49 PM
well, i see the concept have been kinda used up. oh well, cant have too much EVIL, can you?
oh, and im pretty sure the guy was gonna be jhonen vasquez. oh well. hell have to meet satan some other time - it's ok, theyre good friends.

Once again trying a different style

Painter 20min - Wacom

09-24-2004, 04:20 PM
And that's my boss...
Hand and paper 8)))) ~10 min

09-28-2004, 09:42 PM
Hello all! Hope I'm still in time to post this. As voting hasn't begun yet, I'm assuming I am. If I'm not, please, someone tell me what the time limit is.

Anyway, had the idea last week, but hadn't had the time to do it till tonight. I wanted to avoid the "traditional" idea of the boss, as in, the guy who tells you what to do at work, so I tried to develop the idea of someone, or something, telling someone what to do. In this case, the ghost is "the boss", telling the guy to kill. Hope you like it! :D

Photoshop, 1 hour 10 minutes. I'm trying to learn, so please, criticise it as much as you want, ok?

10-01-2004, 08:09 PM
calzoncillos, i really like it, especjially the face of the woman, and the hands of the man, you greatly captured the essense of these emotions, woman whispering, telling on someone, and the man with intention to kill, i like it.

10-02-2004, 07:58 AM
I love them all.. haha soo cool
