02 February 2002, 11:17 PM
its the Jia-Lai player from hell!!

Amazing concept..I like it a lot...

Your 2D sketch is also quite looks like it was done with a toon shader...neat lines and everything.

02 February 2002, 12:21 AM
well, thx all for this start... :D

NowInc : For the 2D sketch, it was done with Toshop and a wacom tablet... it's juste a drawing in five minutes,..., just to see ;)

The dwarf : Héhé, cool studies :)

Roro : thx

Balistic : Motorball RuleZ, héhé :p

A new upgrade tomorrow...
I wait your advices guys...

02 February 2002, 02:27 AM

actually, it looks like the 2d sketch was traced from your latest render.

02 February 2002, 04:51 PM
Sherban : When I work, I put my 2D sketch in the viewport and put it behind the perspective view to have the good proportion... This is why my rendering has the same angle and the same proportions... :)

v3d : I will make some tests ;)

Roro : I keep it in mind.

02 February 2002, 06:09 PM
Well, this is a last render befor i begin the feet...

I ve just had a light :

I hope the feet will be better this night ;)

thx all...

02 February 2002, 06:22 PM
Well, this is the update...

For the feet, it's a mix of the Quake/Gunman/NikeAirMax Styles...
I hope it will sound good.
And, there is the texturing too.

Now, i m waiting your comments to arrange my character. And I will probably begin a landscape to put my bot...

I wait all of your advices...

02 February 2002, 04:34 PM
the feet are well better like that cedric

good continuation

++ RoRo:rolleyes:

The dwarf
02 February 2002, 11:47 PM
the texture and shoes are very good:D
Post your landscape as soon as possible.

02 February 2002, 06:25 PM

Well, this is an idea for the landscape... I'm not applying the landscape's callenge rules because it's not my purpose to do the two challenges, i just want to make a little background for my character...

What do you think about this idea?

02 February 2002, 08:15 PM
hey, I didn't know belgians could make this kind of stuff :D

truly great character, very nice :)

02 February 2002, 12:51 AM
I like the idea and environment, but it is necessary to see what that gives with the character in the scene...:D good continuation

02 February 2002, 09:36 PM

Well, i stood a long time without giving news because i had some work for school. I ve worked and added details on my bot...

So, tell me what do you think?

I hope you will like it.

Thanks to all

02 February 2002, 04:18 PM
Well, my bot looks like a "beastmonster" with the arms like that so i change it to make the duckdance, lol :p

Qu en pensez vous?

02 February 2002, 01:13 PM
I like the position of the catch, superb environment.

good luck for the challenge :D :D lol

02 February 2002, 02:47 PM

Well, it' s just to have some critics and suggestions about my scene. In fact, it is only my second character (as I told you, i m a beginner) and it' s the first tima i m playing with the lights prameters. So, all of your help about modelling, lights and environment are welcome...

Do you have some ideas for the scene?

Thanks all

02 February 2002, 11:22 PM
Well, i added the motorball :D

Lot of peaople I know told me it looks very like a motorball player of Gunm's universe.

So, i ve made the modeling of the ball and this is the update :

02 February 2002, 08:42 PM

Well, i have make a track which is a mix of the Gunm/Formal 1 universes ;)

As you can see, i have modelised the bottom of the track too.
I wanted advices for the lights to make a good environment. Do you have some details to ad?
Do you prefer the texturised version or the nontexturized one?

I don't know if I will make more post because i m having to have lot of work for school in the beginning march!

thanks all

02 February 2002, 06:35 AM
Fantastic!! i really love your character. You could do so many great things with it. How about some channel lights or running lights on or near the track and the walls. A very high tech arena would compliment your model; maybe a huge video screen in the background with an alternative view of your character. I'm impressed and look forward to the day when I can create something that good. Thanks for the inspiration!

02 February 2002, 09:25 PM
 I like it , I love the position of the people , that gives a beautiful speed effect  very cool

03 March 2002, 03:18 PM
Spiritron : Thanks a lot for the answer... For the huge video screen it' s really a great idea :) And the running lights too but i never played with lights so it will be a test for me ;)
Roro : thx

Well, this is just a little update, a test for the texturing.

For environment I would see well an enlightened track of small lights and some panels.
Perhaps create skates and not shoes...the position search for speed in skate can give better than the race! I ll incline the their bust forwards.
I'd like to create some sparks... But how can I make this??? Someone can help me?

03 March 2002, 07:04 PM

No answers, ouinnnnnn :'(
;) lol

A little update because the pose of my bots was too much "static"...

I repost an imoprtant question for me :p : I'd like to create some sparks... But how can I make this??? Someone can help me?

Thanks all

03 March 2002, 08:36 PM
Yeah Cedric... poses are really better!

03 March 2002, 03:55 PM
Thx totitch and Roro...

Only for you Totitch, a new update, I hope you will love it :D

I think I don't have enough RAM to make better during the rendering :'(

A bientot l' ami...

I wait your comments

03 March 2002, 04:36 PM
Cédric! very good the now-render! I like very much the depth of field, but could you post a bigger render?! It's hard to see the details :(

Now I love the poses!!! Great job!

03 March 2002, 05:59 PM

It's a really better pose!
And the blur give a lot of dynamic to the scene!

Really nice picture now...I hope to see a bigger one!

T'as vu comme elle y gagne ton image!
Compare avec la premiere!!! Rien a voir! Maintenant on y croit...

Salut! C'est du bon travail

03 March 2002, 10:09 PM
Pabbloz: I don't have enough RAM to make it better! I ve just tried to make one in 800x600 and in the middle of the rendering, my pc crashed :(
So, I will ask to a friend to make one with his computer for the final render, for the 6 ;)

But you can see this one : It's in fact the "now" rendering bigger thanks to Photoshop and my bot alone to see the details :D

It's not an update, it's just to not let Pabbloz waiting too much time before an update, lol

Thanks all

03 March 2002, 10:13 PM
you nailed the motion bud with the now render, very very good composition and style, but your D.O.F is a bit off :) keep going

03 March 2002, 04:34 AM

Pabbloz : You wanted a bigger one, no problem ;) (Merci aenarion d' avoir utilisé ta machine :) )

English = Well bud, all your wishes are realized, euh..., I hope ;-) because i ve just finished and I m so tired :D

lildragon : I hope the depth of field is better now ;)

I added details and i make the corrections of some bugs like wrong cables, i hope it's good now ;)

Thanks all, see you soon...
All your advices and suggestions are welcome :)
PS: 3 days left ! I don't know if there will be updates...

03 March 2002, 05:22 AM
Yes! It's really nice!

But you loose the blue and red color you had before!
It was good!

But all you modification except that one are good!
Your picture is better and better!

03 March 2002, 07:02 PM
 I like it !!

goob joob ced

03 March 2002, 09:00 PM
hello, man good progress
much, much better i opine (d' ours) the same of Totich :
mix your two last renders et tu le tiens !

à bientôt !

03 March 2002, 10:11 PM
ugh, great stuff.

poses are very well done, they really express the amount of power they have :D

keep it up.

03 March 2002, 12:20 AM

Totitch : Thanks my bud :) So this is the mix
RoRo : Thanks a lot guy
patrick Fodéré : Thanks a lot for your comment :) I hope i have it now ;) encore merci et à la prochaine ;)
inFErniS : Thanks a lot dude :)

All : This is the mix between the two images :) I put a red color as Totitch and pascal Fodéré told me. But with this color, i' m losing a bit the enlightened zone-shade one...
I put more features of wear too.

I wanted to thank all of you who posted comments and send me pm because it's thanks to you that i m making this picture with those details :) When I saw my first post and this one, there is really a progress i think, so THANK YOU :D

03 March 2002, 02:46 AM
but my comment maybe come a little late.
something, you can maybe change is the level of Depth Of Field , is a little to strong at the right side, but the rest is quite good, I like the motion :).
Keep going.
Lorenzo

03 March 2002, 05:03 PM
amazing evolution of your technical skills...

good works..

i disagree with Totich about the sparks (probably 'etincelles' in french).. simply remove them.. wheels rolls on the ground. if you put sparks, IMO, you try to suggest that some metal rubs on the ground..

03 March 2002, 05:49 PM
Beautifull picture...

For the sparks, there is maybe too much on the first character, but although he has got wheel, if it is in metal, with the weigh of their armor,i think it's normal it makes some sparks...
Good work Cédric!
I like it a lot like that! :)

Ps: patience pour les Tutoriaux...Ils arrivent!!!

03 March 2002, 06:20 PM
Very nice picture! Like the comic, too :)

I'm with Totitch, as far as the sparcs are concerned, they look a little bit unnatural.

The characters need a little bit motion blur to illustrate the speed, they're running at. A tiny little bit, not to damage the very beautiful FOV blur in this image.

Did you think of animating the scene?

03 March 2002, 09:03 PM

Lorenzo : thanks. I change a bit the DOF on the right (on the arrow exactly). I hope it's better now ;)

TwoFlower-Totitch-bibi5000 : Thanks a lot :) Yes étincelles mean sparks, héhé :D Totitch answers your question. But first, i had the same opinion of TwoFlower. So i read carefully the tome 3 and 4 of gunnm and when they are rolling, we can see lots of sparks... So, i don't know what I have to do. Here's an update with a little less sparks on the first player. But i will perhaps remove the sparks on his right foot. But, by this way, the picture loses a lot of intensity. So i don't know ...
For the right foot, the bot is putting his foot on the ground so i think there are lot of sparks, no? ;)

Totitch : j' attends j' attends :)

bibi5000 : I m making some test on character's blur... perhaps in the last update :) No, I don't think to animate this scene. As I told lot of guys here, i' m a beginner, this are my first steps on modeling so i don't have the capacity to make animation for the moment! but, in the further, when i will be better, yes, i' d like to make an animation with that scene :D

Thanks all

03 March 2002, 12:39 AM
the render a very beautifulllll :D tu devrais mettre un rendu + grand pour le print ou mm pour le plaisir des yeux ;)

03 March 2002, 06:29 PM
B R A V O ! ! ! :D

Just a Rollerball PA Entry! :D

I like it!!!!!!!

03 March 2002, 08:37 PM

03 March 2002, 02:46 AM
RoRo-Piz-parallax : Thanks a lot :D

Well, probably no more update for the challenge...
I just wanted to thank one more time cgtalk and all the people here because, thanks to you, i ve learned so many things :)

Special thanks to Totitch and Imothep :D
