Very nice, real sence of size and weight on that cruiser. Reminds me of opening shots of films like Aliens and Star wars :)

Cool stuff!

The scene is very clear and vivid. Looks like an opening scene to a sci-fi movie. The blues you picked do a really good job in overshadowing the big gray of the mothership.
Nicely done.

you go straight to hollywood man:)
its very great:thumbsup:

09-16-2004, 07:37 AM

andSheff dont be mad of me man ur work is good :) but i want to know what i asked for

09-16-2004, 05:51 PM
The atmosphere is really effective. I think you paid a nice homage to Homeworld....

09-16-2004, 06:51 PM
Thanks guys! I'm very pleased of your comments. Sci-fi is my favourite type of CG and modelling. These planets I made in Photoshop with the plugin LUNAR CELL, it can generate very big maps and it has alot of settings so you can made such type of planet as you want. If you have any other questions, ask them, I'll try to answer.:)

09-16-2004, 07:47 PM
I like it. Nice job!

09-17-2004, 02:03 AM
CG_ZAMOR, yes it's okay. Sheff is just confused by the two similar forums for posting 3d art, so he tried first the one, and then the other. :)

09-17-2004, 01:32 PM
vey nice!! Feels like the game "homeworld".
Is that a AT-AT head on the back of the ship?!

09-18-2004, 10:56 AM
Sorry Stahlberg, I thought I'd post my work in the wrong topic. So the best images getting awards in this topic?

09-25-2004, 06:21 AM

..I played homeworld...but this kind of reminds me of Prometeus from series Stargate SG-1.

Don't you think so ? :)

..I played homeworld...but this kind of reminds me of Prometeus from series Stargate SG-1.

Don't you think so ? :)

Hmmm, When I look at it, it looks nothing like the Prometheus. Go play Homeworld/2 again and you'll see what I'm talking about :D

I'm very exited for givving me an award! This is my first cgtalk award!! I'm happy!

09-28-2004, 06:28 AM
Looks very nice!
You based it on this ( big red carrier from Rob Cunninghams concepts that never made it into the final Homeworld2, right? It was always one of my favorite homeworld2 ships.

09-28-2004, 07:51 AM
i played that game ages ago! and only one look at your work - refreshed and reborn all the emotions at once ;) thanks - nice work!

09-28-2004, 02:01 PM
I love the battle stripes on this piece, awesome touch. Great attention to detail and great feeling of weight, especially in a weightless environment.

09-29-2004, 05:28 AM
Before i read your description Isaid to myself... this has ques from homeworld... dead on target; good piece, nice sense of ship clustering, the activity shows through the composition... nice peace of work, will love to see more stuff like this! (

2Outcaster: Tell me more about this ship, may be some concepts?

09-29-2004, 06:12 PM
The details, colours and scale are perfect... but why some small spaceships have the same shape of the big one.

09-29-2004, 07:22 PM
Is that a AT-AT head on the back of the ship?!

Sure is.

Sci-fi is MY very favourite theme!

10-04-2004, 05:03 PM

I loved the HW games. And i really like this image...i too love sci fi. I'm not bothered by some of the 'smooth' sections as some have own knowledge of Sci Fi universes and such tells me that Advances contruction methods may be used...nanotech based construction would arguably leave very few seams or panelling unless it was needed. Also the distance is great enough that you'd be hard pressed to see small panels and such. (I would assume that in starship construction one would want the biggest panels possible, not a whole bunch of small ones...just a whole lot of weak points...and if you're gonna be out fighting...)

Its good stuff. Reminds me of the box art of the first HW game (I still have the box). I feel like playing again.

-SEAN-: А где ты живешь в Киеве, и еще, покажы мне твои работы, оч. посмотреть охота(дай ссылочку)

(But i couldn't find the CD...oh well...i'll just reinstall Homeworld 2, i found that)

10-06-2004, 02:38 PM
Zeruel the 14th: Oh, I understood, and I have HOMEWORLD 2 intalled too! Do you know some good games like homeworld?

10-08-2004, 08:12 AM

Who knows some great games like HW ?????

Who knows some great games like HW ????? Games like HW...not sure to be honest...There have been some Star Trek RTS games...thats sort of like HW, but they're really just your standard top down affair with a space setting. Nothing special like HW. I've never liked them very much.

As far as 'excellent' space RTS games go, its pretty much just the homeworld games. I can personally recommend Relic's other games though. (Impossible creatures, Dawn of War...but they are not in space. Waiting for HW3)

Its is unfortunate that there aren't very many Space RTS games like HW...or as good. I may be wrong on this though. There might be a few obscure 'gems' floating about.

10-12-2004, 06:08 PM
What do you know about HW3???? Will it be??

Zeruel the 14th
10-13-2004, 12:08 PM
What do you know about HW3???? Will it be?? Don't know anything i'm afraid. Sorry, didn't mean to get your hopes up like that. They just finished their latest game but if they're working on HW3, they haven't announced it...its probably a given since the last two were so popular...but are they working on it now? Who knows.

The only thing you'll find on Relic's site is NSP4 (Next Secret Project). Standard press release stuff. No detail, no names etc.

Thats about the best info one is going to get. I haven't read anything on sites or magazines. :(

10-20-2004, 08:16 PM
Who knows some great games like HW ?????Mh right off the bat I only know one game that's somewhat similar to HW, it's called X. But I am not sure if this is what you're looking for...

10-20-2004, 09:10 PM
good on u
its really cool:thumbsup:

10-24-2004, 08:20 PM
beautifull, loving the color scheme and composition.
and i have always had a love for ehte insetlines textures you used!

great work!

10-26-2004, 08:31 PM
that's really a good job, for me

10-28-2004, 09:45 PM
I happy that you liked my work!

10-28-2004, 10:49 PM
Any Chance of you posting a larger image for us that use higher resolutions for our desktops? :D

10-29-2004, 01:33 AM
It's beautiful, myself being a big fan of sci-fi and star cruisers, yhis one appeals to me. But IMO, perhaps a different font would be better for the name 'ZEUS' since the current one looks more suited to a space liner. That's just what I feel anyway. Otherwise, great job!

11-01-2004, 09:23 AM
I'll post some bigger one, but not right now, now I have not so powerfull pc as I need:sad:

11-04-2004, 06:12 PM
brill man!
i suppose you arn't going to do anything for the space opera challenge then? :) im not a space thing fan but i absolutely love the feel of the mother ship here. it feels like a BMW door. solid, heavy and secure.

i do feel tho that the atmosphere is a little bare. that could be because i havent seen the large version...whatever, youre it!

11-04-2004, 07:12 PM
Looks very nice and IMO similar to a Ikazuchi class Carrier, soon to be animated in 3d by Doctor movie, an important 3d company of Japan

11-22-2004, 06:31 AM
I'm totally new here, so I thought I'd check out the images a bit.
Must say the spacecruiser looks beautiful. Never seen anything like it, xcept in movies where they used to have models anyway.

Keep up the gr8 work!

11-28-2004, 01:27 PM
great man. Love the depth. Very inspiring.

12-29-2004, 06:18 PM
Very nice. I love sci-fi and this is great. It looks very good against the background.

12-30-2004, 01:26 PM

If u gonna do something like that, at least give to the concept artist some credit.
The art its no wrong, but put the artist plz (Cunningham). Respect the art of others. :)

01-05-2005, 05:52 PM
Worthy of a story. Great sense of futuristic atmosphere. The detail seen almost paves the way for assumed detail, as if the ship had very rectangular corridors and large, long hangars just seething with life inside them. Gives enough of the picture without sacrificing the freedom of its viewers. Phenomenol work. (did i sell that right?)

01-22-2005, 11:40 PM
Houghton: Thanks man!

01-31-2005, 12:04 AM
I think that lights and shadows on the planet and ship are mismatch. Where is sun located?
Сорри за придирку :-) Хорошая работа!

04-20-2005, 02:56 AM
Hey i don't know if you got credit for this, but this exact same picture is a featured background at I don't know if you gave them permission for this but it should be a heads up to you. If you create an account and check your main page after login it is the background pic on the right side. Any ogame players can attest to this. Just hoping you're getting paid for this amazing piece of work.

04-25-2005, 09:40 PM
Thanks man, I'll watch those page because I didn't gave them any permission to put it on their page. What can you advice about it?

09-16-2005, 01:49 AM
Hey Sheff, my first post here.

Firstly, that is an absolutely fantastic piece of work! I have it as my background on my work PC :D

Secondly, i have found a pretty similar space simulation PC game, if you are interested, Freespace and freespace 2 are both really good space sims. Although they aren't strategy, the games are ultra smooth and great to play. Plus they have a really good story line.

09-16-2005, 02:20 PM
Thanks doode! Those games that you was talking about is Descent:freespace or not?

09-17-2005, 02:12 AM
Certainly is :)

Another Space sim is Freelancer by Microsoft. More of an action than a strategy, it also has a good story line

09-17-2005, 07:09 AM
So ship desgn in this game is like in Homoworld?

09-17-2005, 10:46 AM
So ship desgn in this game is like in Homoworld?

I agree, i think that the design is very "homeworldian" in nature, but since i love the homeworld designs, its all good! BTW, how did you get the trails behind the ships...particles or mesh?

09-17-2005, 01:21 PM
Trails were added in Ps:)

09-29-2005, 02:26 AM
Any chance of a hi-res image? it's too small on my desktop! :bounce:

12-06-2005, 08:55 PM
Okay here goes:

- Looks more like an oversized Carrier rather than a battleship, because of the lack of guns (broadside cannons etc) and the oversized hangar bay.
-the bridge is a ripped head of a StarWars ATAT.

12-06-2005, 09:09 PM
one of the bumps near the front of the battleship looks also to be ripped from the ATAT, this time it being the main body of it

01-15-2006, 11:37 AM
i like homeworld a lot, it is my favourite space strategy game, good job dude....

10-31-2006, 03:06 AM
Hmm bad that actually this artist got the award as this image is part of a Ogame and I think it belongs to and but never mind it,s nice and i really like it. Anyway how's that people are getting awards without any confirmation about their work....wireframe or pps or anything that can prove genuinity.
