I'm trying to figure out how to make a decent looking clay shader in Maya. If anyone has done this before, please tell me how you went about doing this.

What sort of clay? A lambert with some sort of specular map might be a place to start.

Except that lambert shaders don't have specularity!
Do you have an example image you could show us?

I meant ambient colour, honestly! :D we really need an example or an idea of what you're trying to do, is it wet clay, bry cracked clay etc.

Their is a well known tutorial on 3dsmax board that for creating a clay shader. The method was ported easly on Maya as far I remember.

Well, the look I want to achieve is that of stop motion clay animation. Kind of the gumby type look I guess. I was thinking I might just use a bump map for the small indentations and a really diffused specularity map, but I can't find any good texture maps to try out my idea with. I thought it would be a neat idea to do a stop motion animation in 3d.
