Wow, I've never been the first before. I'm surprised. This is a good topic. Well here it is. Oh and a gold star for whoever can spot the super nintendo.

09 September 2004, 05:24 PM

09 September 2004, 05:46 PM
I found the SNES. SNES is great stuff =) Here it is. (
Where's my gold star? j/k..

Very nice sketch, csmallfield. This is a hard topic, IMO. I can't think of anything yet. Oh well.. I'm going to work for eight hours, that'll give me plenty of time to think; and when I get home, I get to draw my idea with my brandnew Wacom Graphire3 that came today. W00t. I like it alot.

09 September 2004, 06:40 PM
1.5 hours, photoshop and wacom tablet. This is based on real experience. ;)

09 September 2004, 06:41 PM

09 September 2004, 08:35 PM
andrewley: it takes some time to understand what's happening, but it looks good

Less than an hour, I dunno exactely how long it took

09 September 2004, 08:45 PM
Illustrator, 30 min

09 September 2004, 09:44 PM
Great work everyone!

About 1h and 30 mins

When the batteries die out.....We'll put them in display cases

Had an idea of Fresh batteries observing the remains or ancient batteries like we look at homoerectus and blablabla.

09 September 2004, 09:47 PM
About 65 million years ago, there was a huge metoer impact. And not only the dinosaurs, but also the batteries died out...

Painter, about 2 hours.

09 September 2004, 09:49 PM
weird we kinda had similar ideas.

09 September 2004, 09:51 PM
Yeah! LOL!

09 September 2004, 10:27 PM
Open Canvas 1.1, 1,5h

09 September 2004, 11:25 PM
I gots two. Here's my earlier stupider idea.
10 min sketchbook. 2 min photoshop.

09 September 2004, 11:26 PM
...and here's the other one. I think it just makes sense the way the topic was worded.
10 min sketchbook. 40 min photoshop.

Those stupid batteries.

09 September 2004, 11:41 PM
Wow I really have more respect to you guys using openCanvas....thats tough. I spent alot of my 1hr and 20 min fighting the layers. We really need lasso and cut and paste. Anyways here is a fun one.
1hr 10min OpenCanvas
10min photoshop (coloring)
total 1hr 20min

09 September 2004, 12:00 AM
HEllo all. There are really very nice works this time. I think the colors in the works of HenningK and csmallfield are amazing. Good work guys! ;)

This time, my work really sucks. But the idea was good, at least I thought like that.

09 September 2004, 12:28 AM

Great picture Taron. I feel sorry for the guy. The pain on his face is so clear. Nice shading too.

[edit: pic removed to keep bandwith low]

I suppose this was an electric plane... :P

NO idea about how long it took, it is pencil on paper + scan + colouring in photoshop

09 September 2004, 04:55 PM
When the batteries die out
OpenCanvas, Photoshop/Wacom/1,5 Hours.

Many great entries on this topic. Its nice to see the dailies getting more momentum after a slight dip.
elmasfeo: electric planes, lol.
Rasdasa: great one, I like the little guys running the thing.
Taron333: Great color and atmosphere. Not sure what the things in the foreground are, but they fit somehow anyway.
Mustardwash: Nice, it conveys the moment very well.
Phade: Nice retro bot.
Anibus-Hilal: Nice style, I like detail in the battery compartment.
Andyman: Nice explosion! and did you get Painter with it?
Nilf-Narf: I like the cartoony style. Would have been even better if it was a single panel animated gif.
Dreammaster: great Colors, I like the light coming from the screen.
Geta-Ve: Im wondering what that thing is. Bomb or football?
ACorn: Lol, how sad.
Taron333 (1st): Another great entry! You put out quite some good productions.
Pooby: Nice atmosphere, reminds me of the Iron Giant.
Akocan: hehe, reminds me of Acorn's entry. Or the other way around, whatever you please.
meta_nerd: hey great to see you into OpenCanvas, the layers are a bit weird I admit, but you get used to them. Nice sketch btw, but could have been a bit lighter.
henningK: Nice one. I like the other one better though.
henningK(1st): Hehe, funny. I like the expressions.
R0mer0: Hey cool, I know that feeling.
Phreek: Cool pic.
thebigXer: Hehe, nice take on the subject.
Jeroentje: Great style, that should go on a t-shirt.
Raitis: Great sketch, I like that thing/animal in the foreground. Not sure what happened in the background, but I like the whole pic.
Crimsonstring: Nice, I think you got the lighting better in the first one though.
andrewley: I like the bots in the backgound a lot.
Crimsonstring (1st): Great lighting
made in uterus: heh, thats the duracell bunny right?
pearblossom: Thats really sad. give it some juice!
csmallfield: Great pic! I kept looking for the snes and just looked over it each time. guess because the SNES looked different in europe.

Man that was a lot of typing, I hope i got everyone :D

09 September 2004, 06:30 PM

09 September 2004, 09:47 PM
When the batteries die out
Taron333: Great color and atmosphere. Not sure what the things in the foreground are, but

Hehehe, thanx! Those are just arbitrary wood scraps and fantasy type of plants. It is supposed to show old ways of how mankind used to integrate nature and that it is still there. A simple way of trying to introduce hope and faith. I know it's a little heavy handed on an otherwise lightly dealt with never knows where inspiration goes to.

09 September 2004, 11:09 PM
Thanks for the comments, Supervlieg you CRAZZZY! ;P
That list in itself is admirable.

09 September 2004, 04:31 AM
