I've been experimenting with HDRI and recently I went to add a reflection from a scene in my film to a 3d object within an HDR lit scene.

Alright, here's what I tried:

I created a nurb sphere and scaled it so that it was a mini-dome around my object.
Then I surfaced it (color and ambient) with my .mov file.
Ok, then I turned primary visibility off and went to render it. Nothing.

It will not render! It just pops up with my most previous render. That's it.

It never does this, so it must be a problem or something I did wrong!?!

In these cases you'll usually find an error message in the Maya output window. What does it say? Have you tried to use higher verbosity to see what happends before your render aborts?

Maya doesn't support as sourceimage.
Let's try to output your stitching on a spherical panorama Jpeg...

But jpeg is a low dynamic format. I mean you'll have to use a true HDRI image if you need the light info.

Okay, if it doesn't support that, then how on earth do I map a reflection movie for my scene? It can't be a still image.

Yes you can use a sequence of "still images" name.9999.ext
Just check
Frame extention on maya5
Use image Sequence maya6

or "setAttr "file1.useFrameExtension" 1;

Thanks for your reply that did help.

I put "48" in frame extension. And I know you said that .mov's arent supported, but I saw "Movie" instead of "File" and I had to try it.

Well, now at least it renders. But its all black. I put the movie on the color and ambience channel.

As far as image do I do that? I don't see a place to do it.
