09-02-2004, 03:03 PM
Wow... nice entries all!!

All nighter.. typically me, never heard of the term before though. Anyway, I wanted to try a little different, so I picked up the mouse instead of my Wacom pecncil.
2 h, Illustrator (vector), finished it in PhotoShop (the light coming from the monitor, and some small adjustments).
Hope you like it!

09-02-2004, 03:18 PM
super - great job, I tried out opencanvas and had a hard time with it :p not many options it seems (or im just blind)

Not that many options, but it tends to make me focus on the painting :)

Its sometimes hard to work without selections, normal layers and all that stuff that we are used to from photoshop/painter, but that watercolour brush makes up for it IMO. I like how OpenCanvas focuses on the sketching. And that workflow import/export is really cool.

09-02-2004, 03:49 PM
i like these :)

mine. ps+wacom 30mins

Dude!Telemaco Yours is awesome! I love how you can tell the sun is coming up with the light coming through the blinds. Great idea!!
Good stuff

09-02-2004, 05:12 PM
This is what "you know who" must feel after every night.

"*Sigh*, another night, another all nighter."

I decided on a quickie today, to see what i could accomplish in very little time. PS, 8 minutes, Wacom.

Give the guy a break! ;P

Nice sketches, today (nicer than mine :P)

Crits are very welcome (please!) :D

*Edit*: I might post another (more time consuming) piece today, depending... It seems like i'm getting off too easy :P

09-02-2004, 05:12 PM
darn looks like my idea was taken.. twice.. sorta... I did mine before I saw these but mine incorperates telemaco and MVP's design... :p and nowhere near as good as anyone elses here, but try to enjoy none the less

btw great job telemaco, and everyone else :)

INFO on this pic.. well It took a bit over an hours (including scanning and such) started out as a pencil drawing and I just painted over.. its pretty much showing from 12 midnight to 12 in the afternoon and im still awake :p the blueness in each clock frame is spose to be light from the comp but I dont think it really worked out.. also his eyes are blue because they are reflecting the comp screen :p anyways :) it was fun :D

09-02-2004, 05:26 PM

...alright akocan, now I'm sure it wasn't a migraine! :scream:

09-02-2004, 08:38 PM
Here's another sketch. I took about 30 minutes to paint a better sky (at dawn), and block out death's form further. Personally, I think it lost some of it's simplicity and grace, but i would like to hear your opinions. (On the sky, the style, the contrast, the composition, whatever you'd like to suggest, i'd like to hear)

09-02-2004, 09:30 PM
Since the new semester began this week I thinkthe topic fits superbly...

photoshop 10 minutes- mouse drawn.

09-02-2004, 09:35 PM
Nice one Telemaco.
DmageXVII: I think I like the previous one better, it seemed more stylised. The updated one lost that simplicity.

Thanks for the feedback, i agree; Any hints to improve my technique?

WaaaaY! Too many of these. Aah! Fun times though. :bounce:

09-03-2004, 12:41 AM
Finally getting back to my castle when suddenly!

They spent the whole bloody night trying to get their naked asses up my pant leg.
The good thing is that I realized I can still run like a pro... until I hijacked that old mans moto-wheelchair a blcok away from home...

Dmage: i like the composition, both of them are similar but significantly different in impact. The edged one feels more like business to me.

Telemaco, I love the comix style layhout, feed by feed.

09-03-2004, 01:00 AM
Rasdasa! This is a picture, this've either been going or are still going through so very similar experiences than I remember from myself, HAHAHA, that's beautiful and frighting. I wasn't sure if it is simply a common thing for those, who've been working through nights and days for an extended period of time, basically by themselves, to end up populating their empty room with bizarre and wicked, yet funny type of company. I actually wrote a song once, that was EXACTLY like what you're showing there...hahaha...and for some reason I also believe for a very similar motive. Hehehehe....anyway, before I begin revealing too much of my own nonsense...... EXCELLENT, SIR!!! A big special fun for me!

09-03-2004, 01:00 AM
Wicked rasdasa!

About 30 to 40 mins in photoshop.

09-03-2004, 01:06 AM
For D&D enthusiasts
2 hours, PS7, mouse

Art2, I really liked yours. Keep it up!

09-03-2004, 01:09 AM
Taron333: Great highlights. was actually the middle of the night for myself, so I kinda pushed it all a little wicked....but I have to study the highlight/shape relationship a lot more!

Beautiful image and clever idea, Supervlieg! But I like your cutesy style anyway always, very inspiring actually!

09-03-2004, 01:24 AM
Rasdasa, I think you'd like my friend John Findley's Tex-arkana, a horror/western graphic novel that appeared in heavy Metal Magazine for a few years in the eighties.

Click on the star on the right after you enter and whole 200+ pages are there.

09-03-2004, 03:23 AM
Lol - MettoolMan!!!

Yeah, i relate to that ;D, Funny how games numb you of all sense of time, huh?

Rasdasa - Thanks for your input, i might try those styles again, they might be effective sometime... Still exploring though!

the morning after...

09-03-2004, 09:19 AM
Just gotta give some props...

Taron333- very fun illustration, havn't seen anything like this from opencanvas.
If everyone would use it, we could always have such nice demos. (for those of you who don't know it records the events and plays them back [small file sizes too])

DrawMonger- Sorry to hear that.

Art2 - love the simplicity. Nice work.

DMageXVII- Your final was much mood and composition. I really like what is happening in the cloak transition.

akocan- nice "TWIST" ;)

The John- What was that done with? It is so man.

rasdasa-Stylistically, You Take the cake. I love the detail you get. I would love to see some of your stuff in color.

thebigxer- "OUCH" ...your you're one sick puppy...;?)

DocBoom- That is a fantastic Idea. Looks like a tranquil starbucks add. Excellent.

Sorry bout the duplicate post. Took a long time for it to go through.

09-03-2004, 02:08 PM
oops, I'm late... 45min, corel pp, little genius tablet..

09-03-2004, 02:32 PM
adrixwha that's a nice profile. Good one!

09-03-2004, 08:40 PM
This one is realy just to keep myself from remorse... (the pic, not the coffee:))
Open Canvas 1.1, 30 min.

09-04-2004, 08:42 AM
I've been watching the daily sketches for a while, and I think Telémaco's idea for this thread is one of the best yet, and well executed too. I like the coffee-induced linework.

09-04-2004, 12:40 PM
Sorry about this double post.. I dont know how to delete it

09-04-2004, 12:43 PM
T started off as a werewolf changing back in the morning, then, seeing as it looked rubbish, I changed it without really thinking.. now, given the title, I'm not sure what message it gives off. A slightly disturbing one I think..

09-04-2004, 02:54 PM
This looks disturbing even without the background story, pooby. A naked woman in a cell, that's the first thing that came to my mind. Very well done, nevertheless!

What program did you use, and how long did it take? Did you post the original size (looks like), or is it scaled down?

09-04-2004, 03:10 PM
Thanks, It wasn't meant to be a cell though. In fact. I don't know what's going on in it . it's crap really. Proportionally she's all over the shop. anyway.....done with Photoshop, about 30 mins with a tablet. Its scaled down a bit...
