Oh , I've just noticed this subforum!! Great, critiques is just what I was looking for, so I'll just have to post a pic I've just posted in the Gallery here, as I'd like some good criticism.

These little critters crawl around, spying on important targets. The focus is on the character design, with a simple background to support it :)

Please be ruthless

OK. First off - I like the image. It got me thinking.

Re: Character design. A couple of points:

- The feet to me seem impractical, and don't look as though they
would be useful or adequate for the normal range of motion for this char.
I'm reminded of the green creature from SW: Episode II in the coloseum, and
had the same feeling then too.

- similarly, the position of the legs where the join the main body feels wrong
too. For stabiity, they would need to be higher on the main body rather than

- only other thing is scale and a sense of purpose - If these are spying, what are they spying on ? Without knowing this, its difficult to know whether they are effective at what they do, or not. Possiblly better blending with the environment re: textures and colours would sell this concept better, with more detail in the design to bring it back as a focal point ?

Just my 2c.. overall I like it !

Looks great! What program did you use, or is it with oils?
