View Full Version : particle size

now then,
ive got my particles workin and ive got the particles instanced to an object in a group.
only, the particle object is shorter in y than the original object.... is there anyway to alter the particle size in x or y independently so that it looks like the original object ? (besides scaling the whole cloud)

Do you mean that the instanced object is smaller only in Y? And your cloud ISN'T scaled non-uniformly? Does the grouped object have a non-uniform scale? Can you freeze it?

no, the particle sizes are uniformal and the instanced object that is being used by each particle has changed shape to fit the particle size. id like it to look like the original- there are only two objects in the group- the only difference being colour.

in an ideal world id like to randomise the size of the particles independently in x and y. is that possible? if you scale the cloud object then the particles do fit the original shape of the object, but there must be a less clumsy way..

If you inspect the particle type, you should find some scaling options on the Instancing Tab. One options is Uniform scale - that will keep the object from scaling non-uniformly to meet the size of the particle bb.

Without scripting, What you probably want to do is make some randomized copies of your object and place them in the Instancing Group.
