wonderful!!the render is so good!

08 August 2004, 02:45 PM
Front Page Plug!! nice one dude, you deserve it.

08 August 2004, 02:50 PM
Wow really appealing. I like how you handled the joints, works very well for what you are doing. Only complaints I really have are I would like to see more shading on her, there really isn't much contrast. Also some parts feel a little too blocky, like her shoes, a little more exaggeration there would be nice. Very nice work :applause:

08 August 2004, 03:10 PM
How can you NOT like this project?? Awesome stuff, really cool!

08 August 2004, 03:11 PM
I love that third expression!

08 August 2004, 03:21 PM
I'm not normally a fan of anime style work, but that's just excellent, lots of character.

Love the final render as well.

08 August 2004, 03:27 PM
HAHA i just got the game to day lol nice work really nice!!!

08 August 2004, 04:09 PM

08 August 2004, 04:38 PM
omg, another Disgaea fan!! This is a great piece of work. She is spot on in every way. Do you have plans to do any of the others? Laharl perhaps?? Keep up the great work!

08 August 2004, 04:59 PM
disgaea is a great game

08 August 2004, 05:13 PM
yay! My first proper frontpage (i got a frontpage for 2 of the game comps, but my image was meant to represent all the entries)
All that 'work' after work and life-dodging for a week was worth it!

Celshading is a love or hate thing, and im glad you like it! It can look really good if used well.

Tian tian - thanks a LOT for the link and info - I always looked around the 2d anime art japanese sites, and i remeber a site called haradaya that i absoloutely loved - i didnt know he was the artist for disgaea! Excellent! Really simple, pure designs with a lot of character.

By the way - i feel kinda unworthy modeling her - ive never played disgaea, and im not too keen on the old isometric 2d RPGs - the only ones i can play are the 3d final fantasy games! Shame on me!

Anyway - thanks a bunch for the frontpage. Cgtalk is my most frequently visited site, and this is an honour!

08 August 2004, 06:00 PM
you must play Disgaea. Great gameplay along with some of the most off the wall comedy ever in a video game. Forget the level 99 crap from FF games, characters can level to 9999 in Disgaea :) Dont get me wrong I love FF, but disgaea was so refreshing to play in a time when all games seem to be taking themselves too seriously. anyway, great model, and if you come across a copy of disgaea PLAY IT!! hehe

08 August 2004, 06:03 PM
wow, she looks really cute. and the cell shading's lovely.

08 August 2004, 06:05 PM
Beautiful model, though with some more contrasts in the shading it would look imho even better - like i've mentioned before.

However, finally it's on frontpage. :)

08 August 2004, 06:24 PM
5 stars !! great work :bounce:

08 August 2004, 07:29 PM
Really nice work that doesn't skimp on the essential anime-expressions. Very good.

Though I must say that I didn't like the render of her in four poses that didn't have the shadows and black-outlining. It looked as though it should be in South Park than an Anime...still, you have given us a render of both versions, so I'm cool with that!

08 August 2004, 07:30 PM
Well done on the front page, you earned it

Rarely see any low-poly there

08 August 2004, 07:53 PM
HA HA HA HA HA ! >__<
The third pose is sooo damn funny, especially the face-expression.
Nice work man.
I knew this character from the artbook of the game.
Keep it up.

08 August 2004, 08:04 PM
Very nice, love the original character design, love the 3d translation. Did you do morphs for the facial expressions, or also for the rest of the body, aww nevermind I'm gonna open the WIP thread instead. Great work. I Rather enjoy low poly looking this good.

Way to go Andy! :bounce: Front page material indeed.

08 August 2004, 08:56 PM
Wow, nice work man!

08 August 2004, 09:30 PM
This is so great. I like the expressions you came up with.

I have been looking for an anime to model for some time and if the rest of the cast looks as good as her I might give it a high poly try.
Can someone feed me with some artbook pics or something?
Know where I can get the artbook?

Its amazing..... Love the character..

08 August 2004, 09:46 PM
Wow! I love that model!
I was trying to make an anime model a while ago... Any chance you could give me some insight on how you did the eyes and mouth? Maybe a closeup or something? Pretty please? *big eyes*
Rendering is fantastic as well! :)

08 August 2004, 11:04 PM
Great job on modeling Etna! Nice to see a character from Disgaea here, it's such a fun game. You should try it! It has one of the funniest storyline and dialogues I've ever seen/heard in a game. Are you going to do some other characters from the game, too?

08 August 2004, 11:18 PM
wow man, I just knew this peace of your's would get plugged...

double cheers, and double ... I can't wait until your next project..

08 August 2004, 12:13 AM
superlayer, I can send you some ref pics from the art CD. Do you know of any certain character you'd like to model? I'd love to see a high poly Laharl :) oh, nevermind, no need to send the pics I found this site with a bunch of the same art from the book.
have fun!

08 August 2004, 02:11 AM
Here to praise your work, thank you for making front page with this!

08 August 2004, 02:53 AM

08 August 2004, 03:25 AM

nice poses also!!

08 August 2004, 04:51 AM
Great job!!

08 August 2004, 06:01 AM
why do anime characters always have spiky hair cuts?

08 August 2004, 06:34 AM
Great character design, top notch for a low poly model :applause:

08 August 2004, 08:46 AM
You inspired me to make low poly models, i wanted to start it , but didnt know when, so i know , ill start NOW!!! THANX!

08 August 2004, 10:22 AM
Superb work my man!!

08 August 2004, 01:30 PM
Very Cute work :)

08 August 2004, 02:21 PM
Totally rockin'! I love the expressiveness that you've gotten with her and taken the time to develop. Totally worth the front page!

08 August 2004, 02:47 PM
wow! thats so looks like you can really animate this into an anime.

08 August 2004, 02:49 PM
can't wait to see it animated !!! great :applause:

08 August 2004, 06:02 PM
Andy H, you are the man! Fantastic work. I have nothing else to say.

08 August 2004, 08:42 PM
Absolutely awesome - one of the best cel-shaded characters I've seen. Great stuff.

08 August 2004, 09:46 PM
wow dude fantastic, i've been tryin to get that look forever and i can't, im glad the computer cell shading technology is coming along how about an animation? i think that would look totally awesome jumping around and doing something, casting a magic spell etc.. anyways once again i have nothing bad to say good job!

08 August 2004, 02:37 AM
I like it alot better without the lineshading,
the cell shading is cool. but the stuff thats meant to look like hand drawn lines just looks cheezy

08 August 2004, 02:56 AM
As I said before in your WIP, great job on one of my favourite characters in one of my most favourite games in a long time! Now do Mid-Boss (Dark Adonis) and Jennifer the side-kick!:D

08 August 2004, 05:48 AM
lovely baby!

09 September 2004, 09:05 AM

09 September 2004, 05:56 PM
Very cool !! Good expression!! :applause:

09 September 2004, 10:47 PM
Amazing work!! You have nailed the design and shading for 3D Anime. It really is an outstanding low poly model and I would love to see how the shaders work with a smoothed version.

Great work!

09 September 2004, 07:31 PM

09 September 2004, 12:57 PM

10 October 2004, 06:00 AM
cute, good use of poly-budget, like the colour-choice too

10 October 2004, 12:49 PM
This is awesome. Very well done and stylish. I'm a big fan of cel shading in 3D and I reckon you've done a really great job, and the character style is really cool.
I also love the way the shading is jagged in parts, like say her shoes. Adds to the style I think.

11 November 2004, 07:59 AM
Oh this is really cool ^_^ I love 3d anime, The world needs more of it!

11 November 2004, 11:56 AM
Great character. well executed

01 January 2005, 04:42 PM
Wicked Stuff!! :)

Love the model, great work!

01 January 2005, 02:39 PM
Great! I'm starting to make a low poly chibi charakter too, but I got confused how to set the vertexes and how they've to be in comunications with the edges. Thanks for the help. Some close ups would be really really nice...... thanks for the wireframes! Persist in!

01 January 2005, 08:04 AM
Great work...

I know its always a challenge to give life to a lowpoly model... excellent work. Truly...

Would like to see an animation if u got one...

01 January 2005, 11:19 AM
The cell shading looks absolutely phenomenal! Did you write the shader yourself? Also, I see you have a render with the outlines and without. I much prefer the one with the outlines. Did you hand do the outlines after rendering or is that part of the shader? No matter how you made it, great job!

01 January 2005, 09:52 PM
that is so cool, it looks like 2d but it is a 3d model, great job. it is so low poly the detials are done so well, your texture skill is amazing, and i saw your bunny model too, both are just amazing, great job. the bunny girl's facial expression looks so smooth and attractive, it could be a great character for any meduim, games or movies. i look forward to seeing more of your work.

04 April 2005, 05:01 AM
 gooooooooood

04 April 2005, 06:41 PM
It's amazing.. I'm really new to modelling and your works just struck me deep. I love cel shading! The low poly actually make the anime shading looks less curvy and more "authentic". Makes me wonder if I should rebuild my character from scratch using low poly...

Great work! You're my new inspiration!

07 July 2005, 10:24 AM
I'm a big fan of anime and though I never though of having a job in anime industry, I love to create my favourite anime character one day. You truly is my idol. Your model is so nice I love every piece of it. I will work hard to be like you one day. ;)

07 July 2005, 04:48 AM
Wow! I know it's an old, decaying, pungent topic, but I just like the modeling so much. I've always been wanting to get my hand on a copy of Disgaea, and you're only making me regret that I hadn't gotten it earlier. Thumbs up!

08 August 2005, 07:15 AM
can we see your texture map?? :D

08 August 2005, 05:03 PM
Man, this stuff is awesome! YOu have to be one of the best modelers I've seen! I wish I could do stuff like this. But hey, I now feel inspired to try modeling again. I just need to get a student or some cheap/free version of some 3d Software

09 September 2005, 06:18 PM
Wow dude. I normally HATE cel-shading. But this... this kicks exactly 11.5 kinds of ass.

04 April 2006, 07:05 PM
I can't believe that could be 3d model until i saw 3d model without cel shade , i like it , can u tell me which plug-in u have used if there is and the sitting value for that amazing cel shad , plz and some advices to achieve to your skill in cel shade .

06 June 2006, 10:04 AM
Your rock at the anime modelling, wow just keep up the great work.

12 December 2006, 06:11 AM
I'm late to the party here...

Awesome work Andy! Cool style and I love the cel-shading!!!

12 December 2006, 09:25 PM
