08-26-2004, 12:49 PM

Good car and render! but looks a RC Car

08-26-2004, 01:08 PM
- Very nice render
- It is a bit too shiny though
- The breaks look like large rocks
- I really like the headlights and the windows

08-26-2004, 01:15 PM
mmmmmm skyline, as a video I once saw the guys said "handles like u're playing Gran Turismo".

any chance we can get a bigger image, this is desktop worthy :D

08-26-2004, 01:16 PM
what a nice car!!!

first class model & render

08-26-2004, 01:18 PM
Great render! I have to agree with it being a little bit too shiny though. The modelling is amazing as is the concept, I don't find the front of the car attractive myself, but the concept is still stunning.

Wireframe/large render would be enjoyed please. :bounce:

08-26-2004, 01:23 PM
amaizing work!
why don't you show us pics of the interior, nos and so on?

najlepsze roboty zawsze sa z polski :)

08-26-2004, 01:25 PM
Wow, really impressive, can you show us any other angles?

08-26-2004, 01:37 PM
yes, more angles please!!

08-26-2004, 01:49 PM
awesome!! RC car my arse.

08-26-2004, 01:49 PM
Great Work!!!
I also think there is something wrong with the highlights.
The car seems to be a RC one

08-26-2004, 01:52 PM
agree with the reflections being too strong. not too strong if its was in a studio setup, but on an exterior environment, Id expect them to be more subtle. awesome image! would love to make it my desktop background.

08-26-2004, 02:11 PM
Excellent car dude. I like the decals. Excellent render as well. More angles!

08-26-2004, 02:14 PM
Great job! Are those Ohio plates?

08-26-2004, 02:22 PM
Could we see the interior? Id really like to take a look at car audio system..ehheeh

08-26-2004, 02:32 PM
Amazing work. No crits except that I kinda agree on what has been said, the scale apears to be that of a model car. Not sure if its the camera angle or what. But thats nitpicking, the model/textures/render are all top notch work...well done!

08-26-2004, 02:32 PM
thats beautyfull man I just had to say that, ja po prostu nie moge zjadlbym ten samochod, i could eat this car

08-26-2004, 02:35 PM
Now that you've finished it, what are you going to do with it? If it has a fully detailed interior, then you should make an animation of it! You didnt model the engine, did you?

Beautiful work.

08-26-2004, 02:58 PM great work...was this car modelled using splines?

08-26-2004, 03:00 PM
"You didnt model the engine"

LOL!! Then again, he said he modelled the sound system... :D

AWESOME render! The RC feel might also be attributed to the ground.. Bumps seem a little big, and its DOF seems to blur out pretty quick. Maybe make a sharper focus in the background?

08-26-2004, 03:08 PM
great render man, good choice of colors for the ride. Nice shaders, care to share some knowledge. Keep up the good work.

08-26-2004, 03:09 PM
great reflecter!!!wonderful work!!

08-26-2004, 03:12 PM
Amazing as usual !

08-26-2004, 03:35 PM
Best cg car i have ever seen, can you please render 1280x1024 for my desktop, aah pleaaaseeee.......... :-)

08-26-2004, 03:37 PM
god dam man, this is just ****###perfect:bounce:
more angles would be great

08-26-2004, 03:44 PM
Liked too!!I simply can't believe

08-26-2004, 03:55 PM
wow, thats amazing

I love that car and i love your render

Only the texture of the breakes is not ok :(

08-26-2004, 04:02 PM
Thanks a lot for Your C&C. Here are more renders (sorry for low quality of first image - I wanted to render it very quick). Kind Regards.

08-26-2004, 04:28 PM
wow, its gr8 car model, can u show other view and wireframe
how long it took to render and resolution..

08-26-2004, 04:32 PM
Supreme quality work, dude. Love the windows, cant get more realistic then that.

Only comment and its a general one... to much DOF makes the model look miniature like!.

08-26-2004, 04:32 PM
aaaa man that rear view image is fantastic......the best car rendering i've seen:eek:

08-26-2004, 04:36 PM
I can honestly say this is the best car render I have seen yet. Maybe a few of the renders out there are more photoreal but this one definitely stands out with its distinct style.

08-26-2004, 04:39 PM
hi dude

nice render... very real!

so... show the interior for us!! and the others stuffs... sound system, noz... i want to see!!!

sorry for my english! im brazilian!

08-26-2004, 04:47 PM
YaY, man, nice light! And nice object too, cool detail. Very good work. Gooood woofer;)

P.S. How many lights you use? HDRI?

Kozacka bryka;)

08-26-2004, 05:06 PM
Very very good, except that I can't help but feel that it looks like a toy car rather than a full proper sized model.

08-26-2004, 05:07 PM
I'm usually no fan of car renders, but this one really kicks ass! :)

08-26-2004, 05:23 PM

08-26-2004, 07:36 PM
great job

08-26-2004, 08:07 PM
This is killer work, i've been trying to model one of these for months and mine sucks! Want to do a Skyline Excellent work!

08-26-2004, 08:07 PM
I often see people reply to threads like these with something like "I usually don't like car (airplane, tank or whatever) renders but this one bla bla..."

So what you guys really don't like are shitty renders and models not the cars themselves ;)

Anyway really nice the DOF is a little too much on the last ones though.

08-26-2004, 08:16 PM

08-26-2004, 08:25 PM
Great model, superb texturing and lighting..

I agree that it looks like a matchboxx car in your original pic. If I were going to be extremely picky..... I'd say that the lettering on the license plate needs to be displaced or extruded.. there should be some highlights there since the rest of the car is so shiny.

08-26-2004, 08:52 PM

can we see more of the interior?

08-26-2004, 09:23 PM
I usually don't consider the cars....but it rocks!

good work!

08-26-2004, 09:29 PM
AWSOME!! i wish i could do that work someday

08-26-2004, 09:38 PM
And here goes more shots from interior... Once again thanks for many comments:)

08-26-2004, 09:51 PM
Not like I have grounds to crit - as thats pretty far beyond my current abilites. However I think the problem everyone is noticing (about apparent scale) - really has to do with the different depth of field for the car/background. The depth of field seems pretty shallow for the background (due to amount of blur for some of the closer background elements). However the car doesnt look like it has the same depth of field (everything is crisptly in focus).

Because of this - it makes the car look smaller otherwise the back part of the car would be slightly out of focus to match the same depth of field as the background.

1) Increase the apparent depth of field of the background (so as to not be so blurry - my guess is that this is part of a background image and may not be easily reduced if part of the original)
2) Decrease the depth of field of the car (so as to have some blurriness on the back half of the car)

There is also some fog/smoke in the background image as well - that is also probably adding to the scale problem as the car isnt affected by the smoke (since im guessing the smoke/fog is part of a background image and not actually done in maya)

Sick image though dude - polys? nurbs? subd?

08-26-2004, 10:07 PM
nice interior - love the details (especially the center console) - the
only questionable part of the image are the seats and door lining -
I'm not sure if it's image dithering or the the textures but they look
a bit "fuzzier" than one would expect. still, overall, a great great
piece of work:thumbsup:

08-26-2004, 10:25 PM
Man, you car guys (gals) are amazing. The bar keeps getting set higher and higher with each one i see. It's getting harder to figure out what is real anymore.
unless i missed it, what's the total triangle count?

Evil Pumpkin
08-26-2004, 11:09 PM
 Wow! Really good job, the details are amazing!!

08-26-2004, 11:44 PM

08-27-2004, 01:58 AM

08-27-2004, 02:04 AM
Wow man this is incredible!Nice image.

08-27-2004, 02:37 AM
chrome looks nice

08-27-2004, 04:24 AM
very nice car man!

what were your rendertimes like?

its bugz
08-27-2004, 05:04 AM
Ur modelling is awesome! but for the material on your car is too shiny... if it's being matched with your background, isn't fit. the one on the rear side with the bagage opens, your caustic is too low, i still can see the noise on the opened door n window. if it's a RC car, could be... but like the other said, nice concept! Also your modelling, i believe it takes a good determination to make those details... again, good work but need a lil' bit work out coz it looks very 3D.

sorry for my english...:buttrock:

08-27-2004, 05:57 AM
holy monkey... this is superb! I'll definitely have to keep an eye on your future work. Great job!

08-27-2004, 06:05 AM
OMFG gorgeous car render. May we have wires please:love:

08-27-2004, 06:15 AM
Goodness, that car looks awesome and the environment and render fit perfectly. Will u take me for a spin sometime?

08-27-2004, 06:54 AM
Nice. I love it. Great Concept. The back of the car cathces well the Skyline feel. The paintwork is great. There are some GI artifacts but I can live with them. :deal:

08-27-2004, 06:55 AM
And one shoot from boot (rendering time 39min). Model has about 1 300 000 faces, poly modeling.

08-27-2004, 08:00 AM
beautiful work... texturing, renders and modeling. dobra robota szefie

08-27-2004, 08:40 AM
 ......................................

08-27-2004, 09:28 AM
Great work man. How long did it take to render?? Brazil loves to be slow. Are you going to animate it or keep it only as stills?

Przypomina troche mi NFS'a
Przy okazji sporo nas tutaj z Polski co nie?

08-27-2004, 09:58 AM
Hehe Faktycznie sporo 'nas' tu:) Co chwila ktos cos zagaduje po polsku:)
And propably a will keep it as a stills, I have many commissions nad can't take time to animate this:( Maybe in future....

08-27-2004, 11:22 AM
Most realistic car- render I've seen for a while ... some really good shit you have here ... Love to see this animated some time, some bumping woofers and some neon under the car ;) Love to see some more bigger renders ...

08-27-2004, 04:41 PM

I wish I have this car....very impressive work, on all, I really like the texturing and the light! bye

08-28-2004, 03:32 AM
Nice model Mang!! Great render too!! Can you give a brief explanation of the setup you went through to get the render in Brazil?

Samples of Image/GI
HDRI map?
Extra lights?
and the setting to do this shtuff!!!

08-30-2004, 03:11 PM
Outstanding work, man.

I would really like to see the wireframe.

08-30-2004, 03:43 PM
Here is the wireframe:-) I'm sorry DanRod, but I don't give those imformation about scene setup for anyone. Cheers.

08-31-2004, 07:38 PM
great work..what can i say i just love watching it

09-02-2004, 01:55 AM
You do excellent work! I wish I could hire you for some work, because that kind of skill needs to be rewarded. Screw all that model crap - I've been to car shows and that is proper! Your console is off the hook, the whole customization looks like the real deal. The shiny reflections look like lights are on it and it has a high buff, like that car should have! Keep up the awesome work!!!

09-02-2004, 07:34 AM
SauronBlue I'm open for interesting suggestions and commisions. Thanks for kind comment.

09-02-2004, 01:09 PM
Very of the best looking cars iv'e seen.....the reflections and the ligthing are impressive.....Great work

09-13-2004, 06:58 PM
Can we expect to see any other car models from you?
This one woke my hunger ;)

09-13-2004, 07:21 PM
I'm workinq on my personal site and portfolio but If You want I could send You my older works on e-mail. Cheers.

wehey! Thanks for showing such stuff around here! CG award certanly! Great job. I like the reflections effects and, mainly, the interior. Kick ass man!

10-20-2004, 06:08 PM
Hi everyone,

for this model I actually had a car designer come up with a concept version of the nissan skyline, didn't just want to exactly copy it, its pretty touch as the skyline is pretty fine as it is, but the outcome was pretty good, you can see the original design sketches below.

I then had Piotr model the car in 3D, and yeh I think we all agree he kicked ass this time, nice work Piotr.

I have done a short animation of the car, you can see it by going to my site ( and clicking on "view our portfolio", its pretty basic but render time is too long to do anything else.

I have included a few more high res renders of the street scene for you too :)

Nice work,
but whats the deal with not giving out hints bout ur rendering setup, this whole thing is supposted to be about helping each other isn't it? People give you crit and comments on how to better your work and you give them insiration for thier own work (hopefully) There are no big secrets about how to setup a good render so why not help the guy out

I'm not trying to flame you here, I like your work, but think its nice to help out others too k?

11-09-2004, 10:41 PM
don really knw wht to say... looks like u took foto wid ur cam... :p
itz just too good... :p

Great Sketches and renders. It's also great in the close shot. Very nice colours and shinnigs. Great work.

12-04-2004, 01:21 PM
Wow! This really looks great!

Love the Skyline, and love it even more what you've done with it! Any chance posting some more wireframes (without mesh/turbosmooth?)? I think we can learn a lot from them!

06-23-2005, 02:21 PM
Really great work. I would love to see one like this on the street. The rendering is simply amazing. 5 stars.

09-24-2005, 12:37 AM
