...I thought of it right when I saw the topic first, but didn't get to it and by the time I did a quick doodle I had a friend next to me, showing him openCanvas and forgot. When I remembered the original idea I couldn't resist...haha! :D
I was frauning a lot looking at all the hot rods and thought...hmmm...smartasses, but then I realized OH MY GOD, HAHAHA, the word makes no sense outside the States..HAHAHA...funny and sad....all of them should get a free go again...it's a FUN topic!

The theme is
"Hot rods from hell" or "Hot ROADs from hell"?:curious:
everyone draw car! Maybe my english need a revision
08-22-2004, 07:55 PM
...there are only a few classic designs for Hot Rods, usually distinctable by small front tires, big tires in the back and a huge engine preferably sticking out the hood. They are build to have one hell of an accelleration....they are often ordered by stars and other millionaires as roadster type of cars to show off, but geeks and freeks get a big kick out of spending their paychecks on building a hot rod for themselves. In Germany think my neighbor even converted his old VW beetle into a hot rod...so often it is a conversion of old cars into these monsters.....but by now you may have seen two tons of possible designs in the sketches above...hehehe....cool funny stuff!
08-22-2004, 08:22 PM
The guys that own these type of cars call them the hot rods from hell.
But individual interpretations are far more interesting than the original thought! Well done everyone.

Before anyone asks, i ripped the whitewall tires off of google (with some modifications) because i got lazy... and time was REALLY running out... The rest was done without any references.

Hot rod from heck.
6 hours, Freehand MX and photoshop

Great one Rasdasa!
SteveV, Thats awesome! Too bad about the composoting. The anti-aliasing edges and the flames kinda ruins the neatness of the car.
08-23-2004, 08:49 AM
That's the way I set them up super, exported from FreeHand with anti aliasing off for the hard edge lines needed for screenprinting.
I see what you mean, I had a white base under it and it was 1 pixel too big, giving the jaggy edges...gone!
08-23-2004, 08:59 AM
I meant the anti-alias edges around the shadows of the car. But seem to have fixed them now
I still dont like the background though. The car is imo good enough to be placed on a sober (white, perhaps red) background. The background is a bit distracting right now.
I really like the car though. That has to be said :D
edit: Right on!
08-23-2004, 09:08 AM
No worries super, I just wanted to add some flames to go with the hell theme!
08-23-2004, 12:28 PM
That's what I'm talkin' 'bout, Stevie! :scream:
