FINAL ANIMATION - uploaded: 08-24-2004 ( (simple render) ( (same but playblast)

here we go!

this is what i've done so far... ( (divx)
sorry for the avi, haven't got sorenson or quicktime here at school.

the character will be waving for his life just before he hits the ground.

now critic away! :wavey:

nice blocking. But seems a little too simple, what about adding one second bar where the character could rebound on, or something like that ? it's just a proposition. Or if you not have enought time you can continue on this one it's quite pretty good ;)

update... just the fall this time ( (divx)

Demilliac: thanks for your comments!
your right, some more swinging around and another bar would be great!
but like you said, not enough time this time...

Yeah that second fall really adds a lot. The first one looks like they were planning it or trying to dive or something. Keep up the good work

Nice one, lookin much better, although the guy looks a bit too stiff as he spins around, I know that they get points for that but in yo case I think it would look better if he alraedy starts loosin it half way through the spin, for exemple one leg lagging behind, getting out of shape, kind of an antecipation to the dreadful fall.

diddo on that idea. the legs need to have some lag or some asymmetry in them. have them show some weight. also, the pause in the air might be too long and the fall is too quick. It looks like you were going for a cartoony feel but I think it's a little too much time in the air.

other than that, looks good.

... and then it was time again (

thanks all for your replys!

reckon i'm getting close to the final animation now...
but please feel free to give comments, ideas and critic!

ok... you have some more time now ;p just go ahead and add an asymetrical bar ! hehehe
Overall your animation is quite good enought for me. Nice job !

well here it is! ( (simple render) ( (same but playblast)

guess i consider this to be the "final" version of my animation.
sure there are things that could be improved, but one has to go on!

this time i managed to encode with sorenson 3, but i'm experiencing
some framejumping when scrubing back. anyone know how to fix?

please say what you think!

Really nice animation James. I am not experiencing any frame jumps from my comp by the way.

I am too using lowman for this animation. I am just curious... how do you animated the spin around. Did you actually do some re-rigging to lowman or used IK arm and then keyed the root and rotated the spine joints slowly one by one. Just curious.

Overall, I am quite impressed!

Hi, great job. I think the jumping onto the bar and swinging work really well, he'd definately get a perfect score for that bit :applause:

The only bit I'm not sure about is the fall. He comes off the bar so well, that when he stops prematurely to drop it looks wrong. His momentum looks like it should carry him round correctly, but strangely it doesn't. Minor I know but it's the only part that doesn't really hold up...

good stuff

James...looks good....the timing is working for me...I like the pause before he hits the ground...nice cartoony feel to it. Only thing that bothered be was the twinning of the legs and arms when he flies over the bar...but in gymnastics I guess that's what they really go for so I probably wouldn't change it at all. Good job man:)

I like this a lot, really strong build up pose and he holds for the right amount of time before hitting the ground. Good stuff !
