Sadly, normal-mapping is hard to achieve in maya if you don't know the basics about how the hypershade and connecting material work. I suggest that you google for tutorials on the subject.
If you want to stack a bumpmap with a normal map (or several bumpmaps), then there is a Normal Camera input in the bump2d (or -3d) node (you might have to fool around with the display settings in the connection editor to find it).
Just create a bump-map as you use to do, and stick the output from the normal mapping network (or the out normal from another bump-node) into the normal camera of the bump-node that is automaticly created.
