hope i can make it through this...
here is the idea any way.. well... i will keep it a secret for a while longer...

3 pole vaulters.
This looks interesting!
08 August 2004, 07:38 PM
heres a rough anim start.
do crit on any thing thats seriously wrong.. did not finish the animation.. its just clamped splines for my blocking stage..
there you go.. the first half of my "idea" for this one.. instead of runnin in.. i thought this guy would catapult him towards the pole.. (abandoned the run as the dead line was just 2 weeks.. but now i kinda like this idea..)
chao.. more stuff later..
08 August 2004, 04:50 PM
hi guys ... heres the update for today..
going pretty bad.. only doing 25 to 40 frames a day..feeling bad bout it.. but i promise i will do more..
still no inbetweens and curve adjustments.. just blocked poses with clamped splines.
as always... tell me ways to improve..

d_jnaneswar....it looks really good so far....the only thing throwing me off right now is the head bobs....on the first step back it looks a little odd...it gives it a bit too much forward antic on the push back I think....try and get that across through the spine and I think that'll look better...other than that...good job...keep going man...deadline has been extended:)
It's been suggested by a friend that we should all finish these up and get em off to NBC and see what they would do with em...think it's a great idea myself...i know i'd love to see em played. Possible? probably not...worth a try...why not? :)
08 August 2004, 02:46 AM
about head bobs: i also thought that it is a bit too much..even the second one... I will keep in mind and reduce during my straight ahead run..
yeah.. would be cool to see em on nbc.
neways.. heres the update:
again.. a bit refined..nothing much.
08 August 2004, 05:00 AM
hey- funny concept-
i think the gag might work better if he was really straining at the full extension. I notice the rubber wobbles a little bit at that point, but I think that's the point where his pose would be really leaned back and the rubber bit stretched thin-
also - maybe push progressively harder as he goes back further.
nice stuff- can't wait to see more-
08 August 2004, 12:49 PM
thx coop.. i arched the back more now.. check it out guys..
i think that it looks as if hes hitting something above cuz the sticks moving toomuch as he leans back on the last pulll.. will try and reduce that.. should I?any more suggessions?
again.. still did not have time for the jump.. will do soon..
08 August 2004, 02:41 PM
I'm still thinking there isn't a feeling of tension at the end of the push...he leans back...but then he leans forward again before he gets shot off....give him some shake in his legs when he's leaning back and don't have him lean forward...give him a "C" shape when he's getting shot out of the frame...I think it would add to the cartoony nature of it....great job though...I love how different all of our ideas are...hehe...nice work:)

heres an update again..
thanks there remi..
check the new files out.. its looking better now:
08 August 2004, 09:41 AM
eh eh nice one dude.
i would sugest some wobbly noise on the pole, so we can feel the tension.
well done, cant wait to see the end bit.

Love the idea and the situation.
Don't really know why but, for the capatult thing, I prefer your last wip, maybe the pole position is more adapted.
Considering the flying, it appear too linear and the character don't seem to have so much speed. Like gru said, try to add some noise on the pole and on his body to exagerate at maximum the speed feeling. May be the background is translating too slowly too.
Just my opinion ;)
Good work, keep working ! I'd love to see this one finished !

gru: in the flying one im gonna make the bg move back a lot more and make him have a bit of torque over his shoulders and hips and have a tiny movement on this hands as if airs hittng it and the pole is dragging. ne suggessions on the catapult thing?
demilliac: but im still not convinced with the catapultthing. The wip before this one, i thought he should look in the direction before he shoots off.. but as remi pointed out.. it looked as if theres no tension..
now i kept him pulling it back and back to feel the tension but am not getting the shoot off right.. well.. now that i see that the last pull is a bit fast.. i will slow it down and then lower the pole.. may be... will post that in my next wip.
remi: ne suggessions on this on?
thanks guys.. if i keep doing these anim sessions and 10 sec club dialogues (and may be with animation mentor ;) ).. i will certainly get good at it in a year or so.. right nnow dont have a job so have lots of time. must get myself working more.
09 September 2004, 03:44 PM
I like the new catapult better....I would make that lean a moving hold...so he keeps moving back slowly(you could probably pull it off with some spine movement) and i'd also shake the knees a bit faster...the take off looks good though...good job
For the flying...I would add some really quick motions there...give it a feeling of lightspeed:) the backround could use some speeding up I think....I like the antic going into the pole grabber...ok that sounded sick...but you know what I mean...great job man...keep going:)

hi there remi..

09 September 2004, 11:09 AM

nice start with the animation.
will keep an eye on the progress.
all the bestMate!!
ps- something with the codecs....could only play the mpg's
09 September 2004, 05:16 PM
hi there maxman,
the others are just divx.. wonder why you couldnt play them..
by the way.. why dont you join this session? did not see your work newhere.. would love to see how you animate.
see ya round..
ps: my update will come over soon.
09 September 2004, 05:44 AM
Generi and Package Man know that i would have loved to be there. but the work here had got me buried neck deep. I have been asking for a dialogue based session and Ali ( the mod with the funniest avatar ) had mentioned that he would want to have it for the next session. I hope we get Gollum or Mike ( M Inc.).
i plan to get a site up for myself.
would you know of a site where i can upload my animations? i've been dying to get some c&c.
09 September 2004, 09:38 PM
just first pass.. but here are the new files.. two more shots and im through..
still keys are linear.. not liking the tweens of the comp.. thats a lot of work there.. and then need to check for better arcs and offset stuff... mebbe remove some keys and get better accents.. all that will be in the second pass...
this is the order in which to view the files. all are divx.
the next two shots i will prob do tomorrow and the upload..
here's a link to web resources.. http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=49775
check out redrival..its free... pretty good if the anims are small.. only downside to this is no ftp ability.. got to use the site's file manager.. works for me neway..
would really love to see your work..
as per dialogue animations.. im still waiting to download 10 secondclub file this month.. i love those...as of now.. im kinda week on acting.. i become technical suddenly and loose the acting part of it and in the end it all looks stupit...so im getting the technicall out of the way by doing lots of non dialogue animations.. practising on dialogue ones too tho..
I would love to animate sulli (m.inc). One of my all time fav chars(in terms of being animated well)..
09 September 2004, 04:18 AM
nice concept with the ending part.
will wait for the second pass.
