View Full Version : mirrored normal maps on game models

I just ordered XSI, and plan on using it for producing game models, using next-gen techniques involving normal maps etc. I know different 3d apps and game engines handle normal maps differently, and I have a question about XSI's implementation. I want to be able to map objects with some mirrored geometry, especially on characters, and wonder if there are issues with generating and displaying normal maps withen XSI. Often mirroring geometry causes normal maps to display incorrectly, but not always, and sometimes there are workarounds.

Any insight about this? Of course I'll look into it on my own but maybe some folks have already worked through this issue with XSI.
