A form of suicide only allowed to the samurai, it was an acceptance as a Warrior, of one’s failure. The Japanese find an intimate respect for the abdomen, because they believe it houses ones spirit.
To cut the belly was to release the spirit.
The ceremony entailed the act of cutting ones gut, in a ceremonial fashion, from the left to the right so as to release the core of one-self and die honorably.
Usually, the samurai was assisted by a Kaishaku; an individual whose responsibility it was to decapitate the head of the samurai after their gut was split, so as to spare them any needless suffering.
This person was usually the closest friend the samurai had.
some amazing stuff here!
Shoque love your first one!

good excuse for a monster drawing!
painter / 2hr30mins
sorry about the crap compression quality and the big file size...but this type of drawing isn't suited to compression...and i feel i'd be wasting my time if cutting down to 480x480.
nice one supervlieg! Yeah I'm back in town. Glad to be back!
