View Full Version : advice on glossy reflections and sampling

I have an object with a metal looking phong shader. i have been messing with the glossy reflections and samplings for a ridiculous amount of time with no luck. it is reflecting an environment map in a the current render pass. I can get a blurry reflection that looks quite nice, but i cannot make the reflection stop flickering noise. even with a sample settings of 20 it does not eliminate it. I have been all over the manuals. it mentions the word glossy 2 times in the entire manual. one for toon rendering and once it says play with the glossiness of an object.

any advice that will reduce flickering would be awsome.

In V3 I used insane samples of like 200... it's better in 4, but you'll need to up it alot.
