View Full Version : 3D Render for CS
08 August 2004, 07:00 PM
I have mostly been using 3D max for 3d rendering, but I heard there was a render in ps7. I have only had CS, and was wondering if there was a place to download the 3d render plugin. I searched google & these forums, and couldn't quite find my answer, but if this has been asked repetetively, I apologize. Would appreciate if a link or any information was emailed to me at Stoned4Life@SG-Designs.net.

Wow, that the first I've heard of it. LOL, I don't believe such a thing exists and if it did I doubt it would come anywhere near the sofisitcation and power of the real 3D renderers in Max. Which version are you using? and why are you looking for an alternative to Max's renderers?

I believe there was a filter called 3D Render that came with PS, not sure if it's still in CS though (the only flter I've used in forever is Clouds) It didn't render anything but.

You're not thinking of the 3D Transform filter are you?
Because that does nothing you're hoping it would.
There have over the past few years been a few 3D plugind created for PS that will allow you to import 3D models and apply lighting, texturing (very basic), and positioning to the model. But i haven't seen them updated for a couple versions; since PS6. One was bought out by Metacreations, who in turn was picked up by Corel. I haven't seen Corel do anything with it though. The other one i don't recall it's name. Not sure the company is still around.
I'd suggest a Google for this.
Here's a couple links i found:
(this is the one bought up by Corel, from Metacreations; who bought it up first)
Check at Corel's site... it might still be an active part of the KPT plugins.

3d transform is on the PS CS cd, it's not installed by default for some reason

Yes, there are plugins to render 3D models in Photoshop, but only render; it's not possible to model anything.

If you are talking about the 3d transform filter, here's how you get it back. Go into the goodies folder on the PSCS installation cd. In one of the folders in the goodies folder (I believe it's either called filters or plugins) there should be the 3d transform filter. Copy and paste it into the photoshop cs directory on your computer for plugin filters.
