Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 / 480 x 640 OR 800 x 600 /600 x 800
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

Hey everyone, Its my first post in almost a month. Ive been lurking but havent been able to post due to some personal projects.

1 hour pencil and paper, 5 mins photoshop.
Feed back would be nice since im new to drawing robots.

08 August 2004, 07:30 PM
Not much to crit about the bot. Other that he isn't airborne ofcourse.

08 August 2004, 09:10 PM
I think I get it! :lightbulb "Flight" as in fleeing from another big bad robot. If the other robot were closer, you could have the steam coming out of his ears, though it's clear enough that he's "steamed". I really like the sad facial expression, but can't make out his pose. Is he bent over like a hunchback or is his torso rounded and his head comes out of his chest like a turtle?

08 August 2004, 09:18 PM
Lol, I read fight but even still this image doesnt really apply. Its just what kind of poured out.

I didnt really layout the pose and just went at it in pieces so its kinda funky. I had imagined the robot was bent over but it probably looks more like his head pokes out like a turtle.

Great topic! Nevermind the flight thebigxer, I like Steam Driven Fight as well :)

Thats wicked!

I love that you chose a cow. Every time i see a image of a cow thats fairly strange I always think of Earthworm Jim.

I really like the clowds and the pose of the cow.

2 hours, Wacom, PSP7
My version of a steam driven flight :)

08 August 2004, 05:06 AM

Guess it's not very aeorodynamic (nor fast). Let's call it YF-17 Bumblebee, piloted by the reckless Isamu Dyson Fatperson.

What happened to Goro, Stephen S., Kirt, Telliot, Garma, Ephesus and the rest of the gang? Should we make a requiem sketch?

Great sketch Sir Patrolco. I guess most of the guys are recovering from Siggraph. I think they'll return soon.

08 August 2004, 06:08 PM

About 1.5 hrs ps/wacom
The "design a contraption" topics are challenging, but fun. Cool stuff, people!

08 August 2004, 04:48 AM
Steam driven flight.. or not. about 2:30 on a wacom in photoshop

08 August 2004, 11:16 AM
heres mine, 50 min photoshop

08 August 2004, 11:43 AM
2 hours, wacom, photoshop & painter

08 August 2004, 03:03 PM
don't know if this one is qualify or not, but here it is, 2 hour in photoshop.
Great entry all!!:)

08 August 2004, 03:48 PM
SalamanderCoral: nice moody pic. Great style.

Androgs: Certainly qualifies in my book, good entry!

08 August 2004, 05:31 PM
Androgs, it only applies to the topic at hand if the steam truly is powering the ship. If the steam is just for show and there's another force causing the flight then it does not, in fact, work for the current thread. :wip:

08 August 2004, 05:44 PM
really great job SalamanderCoral! i get a warm fuzzy every time i look at it.
Which app was the linework done? was it painter? I havent had a chance to try it yet. your rainbow is really well done.:thumbsup: vbmenu_register("postmenu_1511544", true);

08 August 2004, 08:48 PM
Supervlieg: Hi. Thanks! Your cows rock, as usual, and I think that in these last entries you've proved yourself as a versatile artist, congratulations!.

SalamanderCoral: I like it a lot.

Sir Patroclo

08 August 2004, 10:48 PM
Thanks for the kind words Sir Patrolco

08 August 2004, 05:21 AM
Thanks for the comment, Supervlieg and PowerChild for the explanation.:D

08 August 2004, 08:31 AM
Supervlieg: your cow is pretty cool:)

Divideby0: the linework was done in photoshop, the coloring in painter and PS...

Sir Patroclo: thanx:)
