3Delight is a fast, high quality, RenderMan compliant renderer. It is currently available for the MacOS X, IRIX, Linux, Linux PPC and Windows platforms

 users of BMRT should at least try this great Renderman Compliant Renderer 3Delight "FREE!" which is way :p faster++ than BMRT and IMO produces better results i don't know why its not even popular :hmm: well its difinitely worth to checke out. dont let the images in the gallery fool you!..

The coolest thing about 3Delight currently imho is -- besides its speed and the 'low' cost -- the deep shadow map support.
I'm not aware of any other renderer that currently has this.

I recently finished a shot for a client using dsms to do a fly thru ofvolumetric self-shadowing (sphere-based) cumulus clouds which rendered very fast and came out absolutely beautiful.

Thumbs up for 3Delight!
