this model was made for a friends game called "die orks" he is planning to develop.
it took me a few month to complete because i worked in my limited free time on it.
i love the warhammer, confrontation and blizzard style and always wanted to create a similar character.

this is really cool. i like the character as well as the texture... some animation yet? is there a developmentsite concerning "that" game, or more models? btw. mühlheim near KA?

This looks great, both technically, and the character has quite a bit of charm. And, by the looks of him, it was fun to make :)

Very expressive , it looks like a warcraft wise orc ( if this is possible ) , nice modeling and great texturing .

this is one of the best lowres model i've ever seen.. Nice mode and textures. I assume the texture you were started with photograph isn't it? then paint the shading and attaching different sections of dirts? amazing job. i like this rather than blizzard all hand painted texture.

Well, it looks fantastic, but it looks exactly like Blizzard. If I was making an original game, I'd insist on some originality.

argh, i hit return accidentally...

no, animations will come later.....first he has to find one to do it :)

now you can see a small render of the wireframe with the new "from concept to 3d"-link i posted above.

yeah, it was fun. first i started, i have´t known how it will turn, but than, after the model made big steps and becomes better and better i couldn´t keep my hands off it for a week.
its a great feeling to see your own idea growing like a baby.

i haven´t used much photomaterial. only for his face and beared i used some skin and hair underlays. the rest was handpaintjob and the use of ps-filters for creating structures, dirt, variations.

you are right, every game should have a look ones own and not a copy.
but i think, the character has his own quality. the ingame graphics of blizzards games (warcraft3, wow) are more simple, rich in contrast, have a nice disneystyle and superb colors and design. the cinematics are more realistic. so i don´t see, that my orc is neither a copy of the ingamemodels nor the realistic cutscene characters.
in addition nobody knows if the game will be ever finished, its the idea of guy, he starts it as a hobbyproject and i made the first figure for him.

of course they coordinates are crazy, the texturespace has to be efficient and not looking good :)
it´s cause im making many variations only with some polys copying and than changing the texture there. so you have not to use much space for a whole face. it is enough to copy some uvws from the mirrored face to free spaces on your texturepage und change it to get rid of the symetry.
