Hello everyone, couldn't think of anything special today , all the good ideas were stolen:) so I bring you a simple devil,

45 min , wacom, PS

08 August 2004, 12:08 AM
This one was a real challenge for me because I suck at backgrounds... ...I just can't picture their elements the way I can those of figures or vehicles.
Made with Painter 7, as always, and took about an hour to complete (dang I'm slow!)

08 August 2004, 12:55 AM
Ok... i took "storm" literally... here's the fireSTORM :D

PS CS w/ tablet... 20-25 min.

Enjoy! :)

08 August 2004, 01:08 AM
Drumwhore - that's out of this world. If you'd be so kind, what brushes did you use?

Dargon - Great silohette (oh man, definitely can't spell that word), love it

Mathew_er - nice first post, love the look of the flame

acc9340 - welcome to CGTalk! (I haven't seen your previous 4 posts). I'm actually from Ithaca. Cold, rainy, wet, miserable Upstate New York - represent.

1 Hour in PS w/ WACOM - about forty minutes spent on that little guy, still doesn't look the way I want him to, the jerk.

08 August 2004, 02:08 AM
Russell_Collins- nice work for not having much experience with backgrounds. This forum is a great way to improve on such things!

08 August 2004, 02:56 AM
lol, i must have a terrible dirty mind... the first thing that came to mind for both of the sketches ive done have been like rated R; anywho, here's the second sketch:

lol, 15 mins, photoshop... i dont even know if i actually tried on that one! :D

08 August 2004, 03:19 AM
So he brings his own *grin*
Some funny and wicked shit, great work folks.

30-45min sketch and ink, 1:30-2h PS CS W/ MOUSE!!!

Here's mine. Slightly inspired by some game fanart I saw once. 2 hrs, PS/Mouse.

08 August 2004, 08:04 AM
Flatuloso: Thanks :) I used some custom brushes, and a bit of the default hard edged ones (for details like the burning houses etc).

08 August 2004, 09:27 AM

Will try to get a larger version up shortly...

Supervlieg - I like it. You did a nice job on your perspective.
drawMonger - I really like the etch style. Hehee, I did a research paper on the Great Fire of London in 1666 once.
Goblin King - Her neck and stuff could use a bit more shading, but I really like the hair.
Dargon - Well ya stole my first idea =p. I love it. Oh what I wouldn't give for a tablet...
made in uterus - Simple, but nice. I hope that guy doesn't live near me...
MustardWash - Good job. I especially like the hole.
acc9340 - Nice shading on the man. I certainly can't draw hands that well. Though I wonder what he's looking at.
Drumwhore - Very pretty. I especially love the clouds in the top left, and the bomb planes are a nice touch : ).
Frenkie - Nice first post. Makes me think of an oil fire on water.
andrewley - Yay another first sketch. I like your colors, man, and the little dude standing off to the right.
majofo - I like that idea. Nice job.
mathew_er - Very nice : ). Good job on your flames.
PaemrI - Nice job. I'm a bit jealous 'cuz I'm horrible at drawing people.
Russell_Collins - I really like it. The flames feel very big.
DreamMaster - For some reason, one of those objects looks like a fly to me... and that made me laugh. I dunno, maybe I'm just crazy O : ). I like your tornado and bright colors.
Flatuloso - Looks good to me. Maybe you could've added a piece of ground and made him have a shadow? Dunno if that would've helped your little man not be such a jerk.
Gremlin - Man that's nasty. Good job comin up with somethin original.
Rasdasa - I like your fire very much. It looks like he's fighting an ice storm.
Augustin[e_CZ - Nice job. I like the noisy sky.
killian - Cool dragon, man; and... if you didn't use a 'premade grass blade brush' (dunno what else to call it, but I guess you know what I mean - one that makes it like copy 'n paste), then please tell me how you did your grass. I like it very much, and for some reason, though I've tried, I can't seem to make mine look like that. Maybe it's 'cuz mice aren't pressure sensitive.

I hope I didn't miss anyone. Good job, all, and thanks Augustin[e_CZ : ).

Well, it took a while due to computer issues. I hate those. Nice images from everyone. Amazing fire effects! Mine is Painter-1.25 hours. Enjoy!

"Storm, you're fired."

I decided that Professor X should fire Storm because he's got way better hair than Donald Trump. PS & wacom, don't know how long. Fell asleep half way through.

i feel so weird finding this the funny part...but LOL you fell ashleep while making it...falling ashleep half way through anything makes it that much more hilarious. oh man it shouldn't be as funny as it is, love the sketch too. hehe.

08 August 2004, 09:13 AM
I know this is werll late and won't win any prizes...but i couldn't resist!!

10 minute sketch and photo collage!

08 August 2004, 01:22 PM
1.5 hours PS

08 August 2004, 02:47 PM
That is beautiful. I love the simplicity of the hues.

08 August 2004, 03:37 PM

Photoshop - wacom - 1 hour 30 min

08 August 2004, 05:48 PM
MVP -- "You can't fire me, you're just paper!!" Nicely done.

captain chapo -- Thanks, glad you liked it. I started doing a really boring, flat looking layout, but in my dream they were talking to each other in this split screen format. Dreams rock!:buttrock:

Mr. T -- Wow!

08 August 2004, 06:01 PM
Thanks Rasdasa!

08 August 2004, 11:00 PM
Andyman, thank you for your kind words!!

Franz, your sketches are inspirational!!

08 August 2004, 07:03 AM
I was away from home so I decided to sketch on paper.
Well, with the only ballpen i have, insteat of drawing fires, I designed this character and named him the title, Firestorm.

Around 1 hr sketch and 20mins in PS7.

Many great sketches here and I'm just lazy to list them out...:D

08 August 2004, 01:00 PM
1hr Artrage/Wacom

Added some more contrast on the final picture I think it helped in the end, started putting my colours down 1st in the top corner as you can pick colours now with artrage. Found it tricky to get the depth right.

Drumwhore - excellent, love the sky & the little trails
Franz - very nice quality of light on this one, did you build up thin layers of strokes?
Mr.T - real nice - like the strokes & the quality of the fire
dck - hehe cool, are the stains on the background from a photo or something?

08 August 2004, 01:59 PM
Kieronh - I havent done too many of those quick sketches, so Im still trying to figure a decent workflow. All I can say is that I start at the horizont and then work my way to the front.
Interesting style you are pushing there. looks like a real painting.

08 August 2004, 02:03 PM
Mr T.- Wicked ass attitude.

08 August 2004, 12:54 PM
