well all this AWESOME works.. got me motivated to give this a shot...
i started today...
this is only the moceling stage...
eventually i want to roto it... so it will be like a steady catapult..

Wow! Nice modeling so far. I look forward to seeing this one in action! And if you roto it, that'd be awesome...I dont think anyone in the challange has yet done that.

well im wokring on it.. started back today ( cuz yesterday i had been up 39 hours for this never ending project.. wich i hope its finally done..
anyways.. back to the challenge..
i nbegun work on the dynamic.. i knew id have troubles and alas... i did..
but i think i got it figured out
this is a playblast of my dynamics test..
problem was getting both axis to work properly ( arm axis and weight axis) but i got it.. looks a bit messy. but works

ok applied that knowledge to my main treb.
and this is what i have ( i made proxy obejst and did the timulation to those..
the complex geometry is parented to the Low rez, so that simulation is fast :)

i gots the catapult to shoot... right now i have a nail constrain on the ball with than is keyed off.. but i also mangaed to get the pin to release by pure centrifugal force.. so i'll try and make the sling shoot out the ball instead.. :)
hope it works..
and my ball flyes for 750 mts ( i think that's close to half a mile or something...

well i mangaed to get my catapult working how it should...
im gonna start workin the texturing, shading, and landsp[ae design today/. hope it turns out ok..
ps.. thanks to everyone on the Outpost challenge cuz it was a great ref for me to begin this part :love:

i got this so far... ttok a while to render. so i think it'll be more of an animatc than anything else,, for the deadline... but anyways.. here is my progress
ohh btw.. i am not a creature modeler,, but i do have this creature from the free models Cgtalk has provided, and i want to use it, i just don't know who's is it.. if anyone can help me oput,. so that i can give credit when i use it,. it will be much appreciated
the model name is called "tahoro"

well still working on it...
took me a while to get the damn wall to crush... but i found out that my prob was having 2 rigid body solvers... and i had to get wrid of the walls one so that the ball would actually collide with it...
here is a new animatic... what do u guys think?...what can i add to it? or remove or change or fix..
i wanna have the character pulling the string.. still ne to rig it.. so its not on the shot..

Lookin good! Only one critique. When it is spinning in the air, it should rotate about the center of mass rather than the handle. It would have a slight wobble, but it would pretty much be the center of the ball itself.

tx Flipped, im got it fixed.. :) kudos to that..
well i have been working mostly on the lighting.. cuz its a pain to get the lighting right "exterior" Gi type in the size of my scene.. i dunno why.. maya just sometimes likes to act up..
but.. after some tryouts.. and tests.. i imported the main scene to a allready lit scece in mr with out FG or GI, just a point light with Area and a Ambient light to more or less semy fill..
adn it works like a charmn.. fast renders..
and nice look..
i have no idea of how to model charcters.. but i do have this model. " tahoro" but i dunno where i got it from.. and its great.. if anyone know's who's is it.. plz let me know.. so that i can give credit to him.. cuz man.. this model is AWESOME!!,

WELL I REALLY ENJOYED THIS CHALLENGE... its kinda like the old day challenges... no prizes nothing special... just do it for fun... and i seem to find it more rewarding that way.
anyways... i am not sure if i can have this rendered in time. so ill just post an animatic with sound and cammera cutting. i kinda like it personally, but anwyays..
