View Full Version : cinematic environments..

Here are some paintings i did for NCsoft earlier this year.
These early development paintings didn't make it into the cut as ideas changed, so i got permission from them to release a few. There are more to this series, so i'll upload additional ones later. These 4 are all part of the same environment, thus the similar lighting / color scheme.
My painting technique has changed a lot since the time i did these. Looking at them now, they need another pass of detail and refinement....and some figures here and there for scale.
painted / sketched in Painter...
and some initial linework....
and thanks again NC for letting me post these....=)

Hey Feng, these are awsome. You always set such incredible mood with your perspective and lighting. Aways a pleasure viewing your work.
I missed meeting you in person in Denmark, instead after 3 hours of serious tuition I just sat there gobsmacked.

hey, niiiice. great lighting and perspective. i need a lesson on that kind of thing. definately strong moods. nice unique environments. i think your work could use some more texturization or maybe just a more painterly feel. that is totally subjective though. besides that i really don't have any critiques. :buttrock:
it's beautifull :buttrock:
nothing has to say , it's perfect.

I like them all and the two I like the most are "Lobby" and "2nd entrance" since I think you caught the atmosphere very well in those! Grrrreeat! :)

Beautiful Feng...as always. You say you sketched them in Painter...the sketches look so spontaneous...how the hell did you do them in Painter?

Niiiiiiiice, I love it man, really cool.
Just a question, you're feng zhu right? Cool, I love your work!
EDIT: In your other post I saw you've been to Denkmark, is that the 3d festival? I might be going next year, I hope to meet you there :D
As usual feng, your art is brilliant, youve got your own style all right.

I really like the triangular system used to build up the forms of these
I also like the blueish lighting, reminds me of nights with a full moon.
One day I'd really like to see one of your enviroments full of people, curious how
youd handle the crowd or crowds.Somehow I can't really attach a function to all
these great looking spaces(what were they used for, who used them...), but maybe
your concepts just makes me want to imagine a whole working univers behind it.
thx for sharing your work, always good to see em.
